Reborn in America: I Have an Equipment Slot

Chapter 9 The Enthusiastic Mr. Roosevelt

3 pm.

Irving stood in the blazing sun for an hour, waiting foolishly outside the bookstore.

Irving picked up his phone and glanced at the string of unanswered numbers; he was completely dumbfounded.

"Fuck! It was supposed to be 2 o'clock, it's already 3 o'clock and she's still nowhere to be seen. Women are all the same, no matter what country they're from, they have absolutely no sense of time!"

Irving took a deep breath and glanced at the time.

After dialing again and seeing no answer, Irving decided to wait one last 10 minutes.

If Tina doesn't show up in 10 minutes, he'll find another way to get Professor Smith's contact information.

No sooner had Irving thought this than, by sheer coincidence, Tina appeared at the traffic light intersection not far away.

"Hey Owen, I'm so sorry, I had something to take care of right away. I'm so sorry you had to wait so long."

Tina rushed over and saw that Owen's forehead was covered in sweat. She quickly took a pack of tissues from her backpack and handed it to him.

"To be honest, I thought you were playing a prank by calling me over."

After taking the tissue, Owen wiped his sweat and glanced helplessly at Tina.

Seeing that Tina was also covered in sweat, and her shirt was soaked, his anger subsided somewhat.

"Forgive me, Owen, I really didn't mean to."

Tina caught her breath slightly, then led Owen toward a side alley: "I live here. If you don't mind, would you like to come up and have a bite?"

Is it convenient?

"Of course, I just contacted my roommate. She has to work this afternoon and won't be back."

Upon hearing Tina's words, Owen raised an eyebrow and subconsciously swallowed.

He took the initiative to arrange a meeting, and after meeting, he went straight to her place... Although he already knew that American girls were always passionate, open, and dared to love and hate, he was still a little unaccustomed to it.

However, Irving did not refuse.

After all, they've already extended the invitation. If I refuse outright, wouldn't I seem useless, just a strong physique all I have?

Tina led Owen to their lodgings, opened the door, changed her shoes, and went into the room.

Contrary to expectations, Tina's accommodation was more like a larger dormitory room than a single room.

It has all kinds of home appliances, but they are all public.

"What would you like to drink? Beer or iced cola?"

Tina hung her backpack in the crowded room, took off her trousers, revealing her slender thighs, leaned against the refrigerator, and looked at Owen with a hazy smile.

Her white T-shirt was already soaked with sweat, and her alluring figure made Irving's heart pound.

Irving swallowed hard, and after a moment said, "Do you have Monster Energy soda? I think what I need most right now is to replenish my energy."

"Of course." Tina stared intently at Owen, raised an eyebrow, and smiled meaningfully:

"But at this time, are you sure you want to replenish your energy instead of expending it?"

Faced with Tina's teasing, Owen subconsciously swallowed.

Although he really wanted to teach Tina a lesson, he suppressed his impulse when he thought about how she had suddenly become so enthusiastic for no reason. He took the soda and gulped down a few mouthfuls to calm himself down.

"Okay, I'm just kidding, Kyrie."

Seeing Owen take a deep breath and stiffen slightly, Tina smiled and then sat down on the sofa: "The reason I asked you out is to ask you for a favor..."

"help?"

"Yes." Tina nodded, letting out a soft sigh.

"Last week, while I was working part-time at a bar, I accidentally offended some black guys, and now they're harassing me every day near the school gate. Owen, can you help me?"

"A Black person? What did you do to offend them?"

Irving frowned slightly. He didn't agree immediately; his intuition told him that things weren't that simple.

"I didn't provoke them at all. They were drunk at the bar and kept harassing me. I didn't agree, so they complained about me."

Tina, sobbing as she spoke, came closer, her eyes brimming with tears:

"Owen, I lost my job at the bar because of those black guys. Can you help me?"

"Don't worry, I won't let you help me for nothing..."

With that, Tina took his hand and led him toward the bathroom.

Tina closed the bathroom door, turned on the tap, and moved closer and closer.

Irving did not refuse, letting her hand press on his abdomen and slowly lift the corner of his shirt to reveal his eight-pack abs.

Tina stared intently.

His breathing was heavy and labored.

He kept stroking his eight-pack abs.

Good heavens, this feel...

Tina exclaimed in surprise, "You must work out often, right? I knew it! You Chinese are either incredibly smart or you all know kung fu!"

Owen took a deep breath, stepped back to stop Tina from taking any further action, and said seriously, "Tina, don't worry, I'll help, but that's not what I want."

Tina was slightly taken aback by the rejection, but after a moment she understood what was going on. She leaned close to Owen's ear and whispered, "I understand. I can give you anything you want."

Before Owen could refuse, Tina wrapped her arms around his neck and eagerly began to kiss him.

Hmm... Having grown accustomed to conservative Eastern women, Owen was momentarily taken aback.

Soon after, the scene switched to a paid mode.

About two hours later.

Irving took Professor Smith's contact information with satisfaction, put on his clothes, and left.

As soon as he stepped onto the street, Irving was preparing to head to "Leo's Secondhand Shop" to deliver his report.

Just then, my cell phone rang.

Irving glanced at it and realized it was a number he had dialed before. He quickly answered and put it to his ear.

"Hey! Hello, Mr. Roosevelt, this is Hathaway. Did you find my wallet?"

Roosevelt? Who is that? Wrong number?

Just as Irving was about to speak, he suddenly remembered that Roosevelt was his pseudonym.

"Oh, yes, I am Roosevelt," Irving quickly replied.

It was only then that he remembered that when he was getting his documents at Leo's thrift store, he had spent $4.25 to find the wallet owner's phone number.

Since he couldn't get through on the phone, he casually typed a message to the other party.

Unexpectedly, it took him until now to call back.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Roosevelt. I'm so grateful you found my wallet and notified me. There aren't many good people like you left in this society!"

Hearing the sweet, excited voice on the phone, Irving suddenly felt a little embarrassed:

"No need to be so polite, Ms. Hathaway."

"Mr. Roosevelt, you have no idea how much your kindness has helped me. No amount of thanks or praise is too much."

The voice on the other end of the phone paused for a moment, then continued excitedly, "Do you have time now? Would you like to come to you now to get my wallet back, or would you like us to arrange a place later?"

Irving glanced at the time and immediately chose to wait for the other party at a bookstore not far away, and described his appearance and attire.

"The bookstore at the intersection of Coral Pavilion Second Avenue and 46th Street...it's only a 20-minute drive, Mr. Roosevelt, I'll be there soon."

"OK, I'll wait for you at the bookstore entrance." Irving breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank you again, Mr. Roosevelt!"
