Reborn in America: I Have an Equipment Slot

Chapter 27 Bullying Honest People?

Upon hearing the sirens, the group of young men who had just escaped the discount store immediately showed signs of panic.

They used both hands and feet to quickly change direction and rush towards the crowded street.

"F**K, get out of my way!"

Some pedestrians who couldn't avoid the collision were accidentally hit and showed their dissatisfaction, but they didn't dare to complain about these "free purchase" trolls.

Looking at the unique scenery before him, Irving shook his head.

He had originally intended to stop the group of young men, but when he saw two fully armed police officers surrounding them from the front and back, he immediately abandoned the idea.

Just kidding, he didn't want to act like a model citizen under the noses of these patrol officers.

After all, strictly speaking, he's not even as good as these little haters right now.

The other person might still have legal status, but he is now purely an illegal immigrant.

While Irving stood aside watching the show, two Dodge police cars had already been lying in wait on the other side of the intersection.

Seeing that the two young men were about to escape, the four police officers immediately got out of the car and drew their guns.

"Hey! Stop right there, hands up!"

"Lie down on the ground and don't move! Let me see your hands!!"

"I'll say it one more time: stay on the ground and don't move! Or I'll shoot!!"

Upon hearing the police officer's angry shouts, the timid young men immediately raised their hands and stood still, too afraid to move.

However, two experienced young men did not stop and ran desperately towards the area with more people.

Seeing this, a police officer decisively pulled the trigger!

With a loud "bang!"

A fleeing Black man was caught off guard and hit in the shin, bleeding profusely. He collapsed to the ground clutching his leg and howling in pain.

The little black guy who had also chosen to run away was so frightened by the scene before him that he panicked and hurriedly dropped the shopping bag in his hand and raised his hands.

They stood rooted to the spot, not daring to move an inch.

"F**K! Why did you shoot? We just wanted to steal some things to sell for food!"

Seeing his companions handcuffed, the black man who led the "zero-dollar purchase" shouted and kept questioning the police.

But the police officers nearby didn't care about any of that. They forcibly handcuffed all the thieves who stole from the discount store and then stuffed them into the car.

When it was the turn of the black man lying on the ground, an older police officer shrugged and said helplessly, "Sorry, Carl, some big shots are coming to Bayside Port recently. You guys are out of luck."

Upon hearing the explanation, the black man named Carl immediately cursed, "Oh! Shit!! I knew I shouldn't have come here!"

The police officers quickly used a first-aid kit to stop the bleeding from the man who had been shot.

Then a group of police cars turned on their lights and sped away with several young men in black.

As expected, the streets returned to their bustling state in no time, as if the scene from before had never happened.

Seeing the police car leave, Irving shook his head, turned around and walked towards the bus stop, intending to find another place.

Since a big shot is coming to Bayside Port in a couple of days, the security situation here will definitely be a key focus for the Miami Police Department in the near future.

It seems I need to find a different location to complete the mission.

As soon as Irving arrived at the bus stop, two young black men rushed over.

One of them even bumped into him by accident.

"Hey buddy, watch where you're going!" Irving said, inexplicably annoyed.

But seeing the other person's apologetic face and nodding apology, Irving didn't hold it against him.

Arriving at the bus stop, I gazed at the palm trees lining the road, and the distant blue sky and azure sea.

Sailing ships and yachts floated freely on the sea, and Irving's mood improved considerably.

The sunlight on my shoulders felt like a vacation.

Irving was captivated by the beautiful scenery for a while, but his smile soon faded.

He only realized after touching his pockets that there was a hole in each of the two pockets of his beach shorts.

Where's my phone? Where's my iPhone 5S?

Wait, it's not just the phone, where did the $200 in my pocket go?!

"WTF!!"

Irving was slightly taken aback, then his anger flared up.

That damn thief even stole my phone!

The local thieves are so rude!

Irving was so angry his face turned green.

Although he knew that Bayside Harbor was a chaotic place with all sorts of thieves and robbers, he had only been there for a short time.

I stood on the street watching a failed "free shopping" event, and in the blink of an eye, my phone and the $200 in my pocket were gone.

Thinking about the phone he had worked so hard to buy, Irving suddenly felt a bit upset.

However, after calming down, Irving thought about the black man who had bumped into him earlier.

Thinking that the two were highly suspicious, Owen did not hesitate at all. After recalling the direction the two had left in, he quickly chased after them.

After walking a short distance, Irving came to a crossroads.

Looking around, Irving noticed two homeless men sitting on the ground smoking nearby. He quickly went over and greeted them.

"Hey guys, I need to ask you something. Did you see two young Black guys walk by just now?"

"Young Black man?" The two homeless men looked at Irving with surprise. "Did your things get stolen?"

"Uh, that's right, my phone and the $200 I had on me were all stolen!" Irving shook his head helplessly.

"Don't worry, buddy, you've come to the right place. We actually know those two black guys," the two homeless men said enthusiastically.

Irving was about to express his gratitude when he saw the two homeless men reach out to him.

The implication of demanding kickbacks is self-evident.

"I'm sorry, I really don't have any money on me, but if you can help me find my phone, I will definitely thank you properly."

Irving reached into his empty pockets, looked at the two men, and smiled helplessly.

The two homeless men exchanged a glance, withdrew their hands, and smiled disdainfully.

One of the Latino homeless men, wearing a felt hat, lay back against the wall on the street, arms crossed, looking at Irving:

"Buddy, it's not that we don't want to help, it's just that we haven't eaten today. These past two days, those new volunteers at the shelter have been acting like idiots; the food they cook is not only terrible, but the portions are also tiny..."

"If you want our help, you should at least show some sincerity, right?"

"Alright, Jim, stop teasing this poor fellow. Here's what we'll do," another homeless man interrupted his companion, looking at Owen and saying:

"$50 each, and we'll help you find those two black thieves. You can pay us after we find them. What do you think?"

Irving frowned. $100 for both of them? That's way too expensive!

He only spent $30 on that iPhone 5S back then. $100? That's enough for him to buy three more.

With that thought in mind, Irving turned around and prepared to leave.

"Hey, stop right there, friend!"

Seeing that Irving was about to leave, the two homeless men became unhappy and stood up to block his way.

"We haven't even paid yet, and you're just leaving like this? Are you kidding us?"

Seeing the two menacing expressions, Irving immediately chuckled:

"Forced sale? Aren't you bullying honest people?"
