Huayu: Starting from retirement, sweeping across the domestic entertainment industry
Chapter 78 Does Li Ran's face hurt? [Please continue reading]
After taking a shower, Li Ran picked up his phone and saw that it was 3 p.m.
He thought for a moment, then opened Liu Haocun's WeChat and started typing.
The older brother stopped there: "I'm planning to try and appease you; I hope you'll give me face."
He stared at the screen for a few seconds, but there was no response. Just as he was about to put his phone down, a message popped up.
[You broke your arm? You're so concerned about saving face?]
Li Ran smiled and was about to reply when another message arrived.
Is that roasted fox still around?
Li Ran raised an eyebrow. Burning a fox?
It took him two seconds to realize that they were talking about Xiao Hu.
Is it Hu Lianxin?
This time it took a little longer to arrive.
Tell her not to run away.
Li Ran looked at these five words, unsure of what they meant.
Don't run away? Are you coming to settle scores with her? Or are you just venting your emotions?
He sent three question marks, but received no reply.
He waited another two minutes, but the screen remained silent.
The bathroom door opened.
Hu Lianxin came out, her hair half-dry, and her cheeks flushed from the hot water.
She walked to the sofa, sat down naturally next to Li Ran, and leaned on his shoulder.
She suddenly remembered something, looked up at him, and said, "By the way, Mr. Long found me some new film and television resources. Did you get them for me?"
Li Ran looked down at her and shook his head: "I didn't tell my aunt. What resources?"
He actually knew what was going on.
After Long Danni asked those questions at the company that day, she should have already started making arrangements. After all, she's his girlfriend, so he should at least show some appreciation.
"Oh, I thought you were the one who got it for me."
She paused for a moment and then explained, "Douluo Continent, the male lead drama starring Xiao Zhan from our company. President Long put both me and Zhai Xiaowen in it, and I play Zhu Zhuqing."
Li Ran fell silent. (This refers to the novel "Douluo Continent".)
Of course he knows about this show.
When the show aired, it trended on social media repeatedly, but most of the comments were negative. People criticized the special effects, the plot adaptation, and the female lead's acting.
Another terrible drama.
However, the show is indeed quite popular, and for Hu Ge to appear in such a big IP is a great opportunity to gain exposure at this stage.
He nodded: "Not bad, a big IP, and with Xiao Zhan leading the way. At your current stage, it's good to get some exposure."
He paused, then added, "I'll mentor you again if I have any good projects in the future."
Hu Lianxin nodded, a slight smile appearing on her face: "Right? I think it's pretty good too."
Just as the two were chatting, the door was opened.
Li Ran looked up and saw Liu Haocun standing in the entryway, his chest rising and falling slightly, as if he had run up.
Her cheeks flushed with excitement, and her doe-like eyes widened as she stared intently at the two people on the sofa.
Li Ran was stunned.
No, did he come here to challenge me to a solo duel because he was so angry?
Hu Lianxin was also stunned.
She sat up straight, looking at the girl who had returned, her face full of confusion.
Liu Haocun strode in and stood in front of the two men.
Her gaze fell directly on Hu Lianxin's face, filled with barely suppressed anger.
Hu Lianxin subconsciously stood up and met her gaze.
The two were about the same height, one 1.65 meters and the other 1.67 meters. Standing there, they actually looked evenly matched.
Li Ran spoke slowly, trying to keep his voice calm: "What are you two trying to do?"
Liu Haocun glanced at him, a warning in his eyes: "Shut up. I'll talk to you later."
After saying that, she glared at Hu Lianxin.
Hu Lianxin glared back at her, showing no sign of backing down.
Liu Haocun suddenly spoke, his voice carrying the distinctive strength of a Northeastern accent: "What are you looking at!"
Without thinking, Hu Lianxin blurted out, "What are you looking at me for!"
Liu Haocun grinned.
There was no kindness in that smile, only an unwavering certainty that "you're finished."
She swung her arm back, a prelude to taking action.
Seeing that things were not going well, Li Ran's body reacted faster than his brain.
A flash.
He stepped directly between the two.
Hu Lianxin was knocked backward by him and fell into the sofa.
Liu Haocun's slaps were already unstoppable...
"Snapped!"
A crisp sound.
It landed squarely on Li Ran's face.
The entire living room fell silent.
Liu Haocun's hand froze in mid-air, his eyes widening even more than before.
She looked at the red mark that quickly appeared on Li Ran's face, her lips moved, and her voice stammered.
"Ah... Li Ran... I didn't mean to... I didn't mean to hit you..."
Hu Lianxin jumped up from the sofa, moved closer to Li Ran, and reached out to touch his face: "Li Ran, are you alright? Does it hurt?"
Li Ran exhaled through his nose.
He glanced at Liu Haocun's panicked face, then at Hu Lianxin's furrowed brows.
Then he spoke, his voice not loud but steady: "Sit down, everyone."
Hu Lianxin paused for a moment, turned her head to glare at Liu Haocun, snorted coldly, sat back on the sofa, and crossed her arms.
Liu Haocun stood still, and said softly, "I really didn't mean to..."
"Go and sit down."
Liu Haocun pouted, obediently walked to the other end of the sofa, sat down against the armrest, kept his legs tightly together, and put his hands on his knees, like a primary school student.
She was so angry that she lost her mind and was only thinking about revenge.
Li Ran looked at the two of them without saying a word.
He'd seen Oda and Coconut fight before, but he'd never seen anyone slap someone right off the bat!
However, neither of them were so perverted as to send each other "short videos" to provoke each other...
He thought about it and suddenly felt like laughing, but he couldn't laugh now.
Liu Haocun had been secretly observing his expression, and seeing that he hadn't spoken for a long time, he finally couldn't hold back anymore.
She leaned forward slightly, her voice soft and gentle, with a hint of pleading: "Li Ran... how about you hit me?"
She blinked her doe-like eyes, looking at him pitifully: "Can you please not stay silent... I'm scared of you..."
Li Ran looked at her.
Those eyes were wet, filled with "I know I was wrong" and "Please pay attention to me."
Just a moment ago it was as fierce as a little lion about to fight, but now it's turned into this.
He slowly began, "Aren't you two childish?"
His gaze swept across their faces: "Kids fighting? And yelling 'What are you looking at?' 'What's it to you?' Three years old?"
Hu Lianxin snorted coldly and turned her face away: "She started causing trouble as soon as she walked in."
Liu Haocun immediately retorted, glancing at her sideways: "Who told you to say those things on the phone to upset me!"
Hu Lianxin, her neck stiff, retorted defiantly, "Who told you to keep making phone calls!"
Liu Haocun raised his chin and said in a slightly louder voice, "I called Li Ran, what's it to you!"
Hu Lianxin sneered, the words on the tip of her tongue: "Li Ran and I are doing..."
"Alright!"
Li Ran interrupted her, his voice not loud, but the impatience in his tone was already unmistakable.
He looked at the two of them and said, word by word, "Let's turn the page, okay?"
"It's my fault, it's all my fault. I'm the one who got hit, you two stop arguing, okay?"
Both women turned their faces away at the same time, snorted coldly, and refused to look at each other.
Li Ran rubbed his temples, feeling a terrible headache.
He turned to Hu Lianxin, trying to keep his tone even: "Xiao Hu, you should go back first. We'll talk another day."
Hu Lianxin spoke directly, her voice firm: "I'm not going back!"
Li Ran didn't speak; he just frowned slightly and looked at her.
His gaze wasn't fierce; it was even quite calm. But after Hu Lianxin met his gaze for two seconds, she suddenly softened.
She knew that look in her eyes wasn't a request for discussion, but a decision.
"Fine then..." she muttered, reluctantly standing up and heading to the bedroom to change her clothes.
……
As she reached the door, she glanced back at Liu Haocun.
Liu Haocun was also looking at her.
Their eyes met, one snorted coldly, and the other rolled his eyes.
