Reborn to Make Games: My Girlfriend is a Game Streamer
Chapter 33 Innocence and straightforwardness are the greatest enemies of the reborn.
This unexpected gift surprised Jiang Yiting, who was standing to the side, for a moment, but then she was amused by the cute scene and chuckled.
She immediately knelt down, her tone gentle yet teasing: "Little Yezi, why are you bowing so formally when you apologize? Who taught our Little Yezi to apologize so formally?"
As she spoke, she looked up and gave Chen Bainian, who was still somewhat dazed, a wink.
Chen Bainian understood and recovered from his surprise. He squatted down and said softly, "It's okay, Xiao Yezi."
He held the little girl's shoulders, helping her straighten up, and looked earnestly into her eyes, saying, "From now on, if you want to play with 'Big Brother,' you can come up anytime. Even if your Sister Jiang isn't here, you can just knock on my door."
He understood the child's thoughts to some extent, and thus made a suggestion.
"My dad said that when you apologize for something you did wrong, you have to be sincere and genuine!" Xiao Yezi answered Jiang Yiting's question earnestly.
Then she turned to Chen Bainian, her big eyes blinking with anticipation and caution: "Uncle Chen, can I... really come up here to play with 'Big Brother' from now on?"
"Of course." Chen Bainian nodded, then noticed a "serious" question and raised an eyebrow slightly, "But why do you call her 'Sister Jiang' but me 'Uncle Chen'?"
Little Yezi's eyes were pure, and she answered matter-of-factly, "Because you look older than Sister Jiang."
Upon hearing this, Chen Bainian immediately turned to Jiang Yiting, adopting a stance that insisted on getting to the bottom of things: "This is Sister Jiang? May I ask your age? I was born on October 20, 1990."
Jiang Yiting was amused by his childish seriousness and didn't hesitate: "Then I'm older than you, I was born on January 21, 1990."
"Did you hear that?" Chen Bainian immediately turned around and solemnly announced to Xiao Yezi, "If you call her Sister Jiang, then you have to call me Brother Chen. That's fair."
Little Yezi blinked, cautiously confirming, "Then... if I insist on calling you Uncle Chen, will you still let me play with 'Big Brother'?"
"Of course I won't stop you from playing just because of how you're addressed," Chen Bainian chuckled. He wasn't about to hold a grudge against a child.
"Then I'll still call you Uncle Chen." Little Yezi breathed a sigh of relief, then gave her reason, her expression incredibly sincere, "My dad said that anyone with a beard on their chin should be called uncle."
Hearing Xiao Yezi's words, Chen Bainian subconsciously raised his hand and touched his chin.
I didn't go out today, so I didn't shave. I can already feel some slightly stiff stubble.
"Pfft—" Jiang Yiting couldn't help but burst into laughter as she watched him freeze for a moment and then touch his chin. Her shoulders even trembled slightly.
"Uncle Chen, just accept it. Our little Yezi never lies. It seems that some people have to pay attention to their personal image even if they don't go out."
Chen Bainian was speechless for a moment.
The two most embarrassing experiences I've had since my rebirth were being chased all over the neighborhood as if I were a cat thief, and now being recognized as an "uncle" by a little kid—both of them are related to this little guy.
Children's innocence and straightforwardness are indeed a natural counter to all "experienced people".
"Uncle Chen, can I go in and play with 'Big Brother' now?" Little Yezi asked expectantly, ignoring the adults' thoughts.
What else could Chen Bainian say?
Helplessly, he stepped aside and said, "Come in."
"Wait, change your shoes first." Jiang Yiting stopped her for a moment, then turned around and opened her own bedroom door, bringing over Xiao Yezi's personal slippers, along with her own fluffy white slippers, which she naturally put on.
"Teacher Jiang picked a good time to come back. I was just about to make dinner. Shall we have some together?" Chen Bainian said casually as he looked at Jiang Yiting who followed him in.
He meant it as a polite remark, and a casual reminder that it was getting late.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Yiting didn't stand on ceremony at all, and smiled with her eyes crinkling, "That's great, thank you for your help today, Teacher Chen."
As she spoke, she naturally led Xiao Yezi, who had changed her shoes, towards the living room.
"I think you just don't want to start the fire yourself," Chen Bainian said, closing the door and following behind her.
Upon closer reflection, it seemed that he had been responsible for cooking and washing dishes on several occasions since the two had eaten together.
The "biggest" reward he received from her was probably a cup of instant coffee and a spicy rabbit leg that's still frozen in the refrigerator and he's too afraid to touch it.
"Teacher Chen." Jiang Yiting, who had already reached the living room, turned around and took the opportunity to order food, "Remember to add some spice to the dishes, don't make them too bland."
"You've got quite a few requirements. If you want spicy food, come in and make it yourself." Chen Bainian said this, but his feet had already turned towards the kitchen.
Eating with one more person simply means having one more pair of bowls and chopsticks, which he would have done anyway.
Jiang Yiting thought about her behavior of "mooching" a meal and even ordering food, and realized that it was indeed a bit excessive. Moreover, she was going to do a live broadcast later, so the task of washing the dishes would probably fall back on Chen Bainian's shoulders.
After settling Xiaoyezi to go see the cat, she took off her coat and put it on the sofa, leaving only her sweatshirt underneath, and then went into the kitchen.
"Little Yezi, will you stay for dinner?" Chen Bainian asked without turning his head as he was rinsing rice.
"Don't worry about her, she went home at 5:30," Jiang Yiting replied, moving closer to the kitchen counter. "What is Teacher Chen planning to cook tonight? Let me see if there's anything I can turn into a spicy dish."
She didn't plan to make everything spicy, since it wasn't just for one person.
We should always consider the feelings of the host country.
"The thawed food is in the sink, and the other dishes are in the refrigerator. Check them yourself," Chen Bainian gestured.
Jiang Yiting glanced at the meat and shrimp in the sink, then turned and opened the refrigerator, immediately spotting the conspicuous vacuum-packed item: "Teacher Chen, you haven't eaten this rabbit leg yet?"
"Hmm," Chen Bainian responded listlessly.
The sight of those bright red chili peppers sent a subtle warning through his stomach.
Jiang Yiting couldn't help but smile as she thought of how he ate the wontons that night.
Yes, he couldn't stand it after just a tiny bit of chili oil.
He probably won't be able to enjoy this spicy rabbit leg.
"That's perfect. I'll take care of the rabbit leg and make a cold shredded rabbit." She happily decided.
Chen Bainian glanced at her sideways. Good grief, she chose the most readily available and simplest option.
Receiving the "accusation" in his eyes, Jiang Yiting felt a little embarrassed.
She glanced at the thawed pork and the green peppers on the stove, cleared her throat, and suggested, "Well... shall I make this stir-fried pork? This one needs to be spicy."
"Can you do it?" Chen Bainian asked skeptically.
In all the days he'd known her, he'd never seen her cook.
"Don't underestimate me, Teacher Chen." Jiang Yiting raised her chin defiantly. "My dad is a proper Sichuan cuisine chef. Although I don't have many opportunities to cook, I have a lot of theoretical knowledge, and I've learned about 70-80% just by watching."
"Okay, then this dish is yours?" Chen Bainian asked with some skepticism, offering his spot in front of the stove.
"Leave it to me!" Jiang Yiting said confidently, rolling up her sleeves and preparing to show off her skills.
Just then, her phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID on the screen—"Brother"—and answered it standing in the kitchen without any hesitation.
"Hey bro, what's wrong?"
A slightly anxious male voice came from the other end of the phone: "What happened with your live stream? How did it become a trending topic? That 'scandal'..."
"Oh, didn't we already clarify? We're just ordinary business partners, doing a show together," Jiang Yiting explained instinctively, her tone relaxed.
"Really just business partners? I thought I was about to have a brother-in-law." The older brother's voice was clearly teasing and inquisitive.
"No way! Brother, don't talk nonsense!" Jiang Yiting immediately retorted, her voice unconsciously rising a little.
At the same time, out of the corner of his eye, he quickly and unconsciously glanced at Chen Bainian, who was chopping vegetables not far away.
She quickly looked away, cleared her throat, and tried to change the subject: "By the way, brother, there's something I'd like you to help me with."
I've recently been thinking about opening an online store to sell some flavors from my hometown.
You and Dad know each other well over there, could you help me keep an eye out and find a few reliable suppliers who can do drop shipping?
Could you send me some local specialties that are easy to store and can be sent as samples to try first?
