Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold
Chapter 82 Partners
"Collective wisdom...?"
Carlos did not refuse.
Confidence is a good thing, but arrogance is different. His memories are telling him that "unity is strength."
Afterwards, Carlos copied the magical memories related to the "Magic of Turning Everything into Gold" and gave them to Frilian.
"Amazing..." Frillian exclaimed in amazement as she analyzed the memory. "Magic can actually do something like this."
"Magic, isn't it amazing?" Celia said, slowly shrinking into her sleeping bag. "Come wake me up when it's time to eat."
She had no interest in the [Magic to Turn Everything into Gold], or rather, she knew that it was a magic that only demons could learn.
What Frilian is now trying to figure out is simply how to get rid of it.
……
Attending the villagers' feast was a very boring thing; at least Carlos couldn't get any feedback from it.
He just felt he should come along.
If they come over, their actions become an exchange; if they don't come over, their actions become selfless.
"I'm so full." Frilian was supported by Vlame. She not only had to analyze the memories related to the [Magic of Turning Everything into Gold], but she also had to eat by herself. She had reached her limit.
"Seriously, what's going on here?"
Vlame couldn't help but smile wryly. She was the one who needed help, yet she had to drag her tired body to help Frilian.
Upon arriving at the cabin, Carlos deactivated the [barrier magic] he had set up outside, and they went inside.
"Being very careful." Vlame, who had switched from supporting to carrying Frillie on her back, had a complicated expression. She knew why.
"It's better than doing nothing," Carlos explained. "After all, neither the [All Things Turn to Gold Magic] nor the [Barrier Magic] can guarantee absolute safety."
The magic of the demons is unpredictable. If another spell like the "Disintegration Magic" were to appear and it were to have ill intentions towards the unattended Sylvia, then returning quickly would be essential.
That's why he chose to keep holding the [Spatial Transfer Magic] spell while eating.
In fact, Carlos originally wanted to take Sylvia with him, but he was stopped.
"Are you going to make her your whole life? I'm not saying it's wrong, but you also need some space of your own."
That's what Vlame said at the time.
What's the difference between this and bringing it over?
Vlame sighed inwardly.
……
At night, inside the cabin, Carlos's sleeping bag was some distance away from them.
"I can't sleep..."
Carlos had anticipated this, as he had faced the same problem last night.
He quickly propped himself up, glanced at Sylvia who was right next to him, and then looked at the three people not far away.
Their steady breathing could be faintly heard here.
Even though they knew perfectly well that they had become true demons, they still fell into a peaceful sleep in front of them.
Carlos didn't understand. Was this what mutual trust between team members was all about?
Although he really didn't intend to take this opportunity to do anything.
"Shall we help each other?"
Carlos unconsciously revealed a smile.
"Did I just... laugh?"
Realizing what had happened, he touched his face.
"How is that possible... clearly..." Carlos looked at Sylvie.
He felt this was wrong; how could he laugh when the other person had only been gone for such a short time?
"Would you expect me to laugh?" he asked.
However, the only response was silence.
There would be no more soft embraces now; Sylvia's body was stiff and unable to give Carlos any response.
The familiar scent has also disappeared.
Carlos simply watched her in silence until dawn broke...
"Asleep..." Vlame looked at Carlos, who was completely unguarded and breathing steadily, with a complicated expression.
"He didn't fall asleep until very late last night," Celia yawned. "He probably didn't even realize when he fell asleep."
"Then let's not disturb him here," Vlame said softly. "It wouldn't be good if we woke him up."
She guessed that Carlos hadn't slept well last night either, but he had been so energetic during the day, so she hoped he could rest a little longer.
"What, you're really concerned about him?" Celia glanced at her.
"It's just a junior sister showing concern for her senior brother." Vlamel pulled her master away from there. As for Frilian, she was unlikely to get up at this time.
"Really?" Celia remained noncommittal, then was pulled by Vlamé to wash up and tidy her hair, which had become messy from sleeping.
When Carlos woke up, the others had already packed their luggage.
"Even I'm already up, and you're still sleeping!" Frilian said in surprise, teasing him.
However, Carlos ignored her and immediately looked to his side, where Sylvia was lying quietly.
Then, he looked at Frillie.
"I'm a little sleepy, sorry."
"His sense of humor seems to have suddenly disappeared," Frilian whispered to Vlamé.
"..." Vlame was somewhat speechless. She then got down to business, "Let's go. I've already told the villagers not to come and see us off."
"Okay." Carlos stood up, picking up Sylvia with one arm and carrying several suitcases with the other. "Don't I need to carry all of them?"
He discovered the quantity was incorrect; the rest were in Vlamé's possession.
"Hmm." Vlame nodded, but offered no further explanation.
They got into the carriage.
The carriage was bought locally by Vlame at a very low price, and the driver was Celie.
—Because no one else knows how to ride a horse except her.
Celia has no choice but to go, whether she wants to or not.
I'm going out for a bit.
On the way, Carlos stared at Sylvia's face for a moment, then spoke to them.
"Where are you going?" Vlame asked.
"Kill monsters," Carlos replied. "I feel like I need to vent."
"Alright." Vlamé pursed his lips and continued, "My master and I are here with Sylvia."
"Hmm." Carlos nodded slightly, and his figure vanished instantly. He was going to cause trouble for the nearby monsters.
He didn't know if what he was doing would make a difference, but he was very frustrated and needed an outlet for his frustration.
Since it can't be pointed at humans, it can only be pointed at monsters.
"Frilian, do you remember what Celia once said about that future?"
Shortly after Carlos left, Vlame brought up the topic.
"I remember, but is there a problem with this?" Frillie asked with a puzzled look as she left the world of researching how to undo the [All Things Turn to Gold Magic].
She didn't know why her master suddenly said that.
