Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold

Chapter 36 Visual Attack Magic

The losing side must teach their strongest spell to the other side.

"How can you be so sure that's my strongest magic?" Frilian retorted.

"Even if it isn't, I'm still planning to learn this." Carlos stroked his chin and nodded. "Just imagine, when I use this move, how will I appear to others..."

As he spoke, he took a deep breath, his eyes filled with shock:

"What?! He blocked my full-force attack with just his gaze?!"

Frillie: "..."

She looked at the others who had entered after the barrier was lifted, and said with a hint of helplessness:

"You all heard it, right?"

"He's always been like this," Vlame said with a hint of helplessness. "However, that spell just now was indeed quite remarkable. What was it called?"

"I can also use visual attack magic," Celia said, for reasons unknown. "It's so disappointing, Carlos, that you could be attacked by such magic."

"I'm not injured! Besides, you didn't teach me this spell, so what use would it be even if I did?" Carlos scoffed. "Does that mean you won't teach me if I don't ask?"

"Looks like I can't just teach you magic so easily anymore." Celia walked past him. "You don't act like a proper apprentice at all."

"I was just kidding." Carlos quickly caught up with her. "Master, you didn't take it seriously, did you?"

"Master?" he asked tentatively.

"Master!"

"Frilian, lead the way." Celia ignored Carlos's intentions. "It's time to look at the grimoire."

"Thank you," Frillian said softly as she passed Carlos. "If it weren't for this battle, I wouldn't have realized that my fighting style had this problem."

While probing is a safe approach when there is no intelligence, it can also make it easy for the opponent to exploit the information gap and strike a fatal blow.

If you're determined to eliminate the opponent, you have to go all out from the very beginning.

"Don't forget, since you lost, it means you're not yet capable of protecting this place," Carlos replied softly. "There are many incredible individuals among the demons, and they won't choose to fight alone like I have. Do you understand?"

Frillie did not answer.

She went to Celie's side and silently led the way.

Frillie knew that Carlos wanted her to lead everyone to move away from here.

Putting aside why a demon would care about them, just the idea that she wanted to convince everyone... Frillie thought it was simply unrealistic.

"This is it."

After a while, Frilian led them to the front of an unremarkable house.

"I feel like we're just taking advantage of Master's power to act recklessly right now." Carlos put down his luggage, watched Celia walk into the house filled with numerous magic books, and stroked his chin as he said, "No, it's not just 'feels like,' this is clearly something only bandits would do!"

He feigned shock as he looked at his hands: "I've become a bandit?"

Inside the room, Celia was looking for some magic books she hadn't read before when she heard Carlos's voice coming from outside.

She turned to look at him.

Carlos naturally noticed Celia's gaze, and at the same time, a familiar repulsive force came from her. Carlos did not resist and was pushed away heavily.

"Stop being so noisy. You can stay here and work for me." After saying that, Celia picked up her magic book and stopped looking at him.

Carlos stood up, rubbed his backside, and muttered, "Forced buying and selling, isn't that still banditry?"

After he finished speaking, he fell into thought.

No, we can't use our previous way of thinking to understand this situation.

Since Celia had the ability to kill them all, but didn't, and was willing to sell him as her labor in exchange, this in itself was a sign of goodwill.

Holding absolute power, yet still willing to speak politely—isn't that quite kind?

Carlos nodded, having successfully completed a moral lapse in his mind.

"That's right, Master is kind."

"What are you muttering to yourself?" Just then, Frilian walked over. "The magic you want to learn is very difficult. I'll teach you slowly later."

Carlos nodded again, omitting the fact that he could learn it successfully if the other person kept performing, and instead asked:

"When are you planning to persuade them to leave? You defeated opponent?"

"It's just one loss, don't get too cocky." Frilian also had her own pride.

"What do you think I'm using to fight you?" Carlos shook his head with a smile. "You may not have used any of your techniques, but I have too. Besides, I have far more magical power than you. Although I said that before, it's undeniable that magical power is the foundation of everything."

Frillie was silent for a moment, then asked, "I'm a little curious why you're all limiting your magical power?"

Not only was the elf stronger than herself even after the magic was suppressed, but the same was true for Vlame and Sylvie next to her. Although their magic power was not much greater than hers, what was the point of doing such troublesome things all the time?

"To mislead the opponent about my strength and also enhance my control over magic, although I'm not very skilled at it yet, it's amazing you could see that." Carlos glanced at Sylvia, who was rushing towards him, then suddenly turned to Frilian, "Wait, how did you change the subject? You still haven't answered me when you're going to persuade them!"

Frillie turned her head away and muttered under her breath, "You found out."

"What are you talking about?" Sylvia, who had just asked Vlame a few questions out of curiosity, finally arrived.

"We're discussing when and by what means she intends to persuade the elves here to move south," Carlos replied.

"I have a question," Frilian said, staring into his eyes. "Why are you so concerned about our safety? Even if we die because of the demon invasion, it shouldn't concern you much, right?"

The elf is really straightforward; he can even ask such a question directly.

"..." Carlos was silent for a moment. He had no intention of fooling the other party. Under their gazes, he said softly, "Because I am still a member of the demon race, and I don't want anyone else to suffer because of the demon invasion."

He turned to look at the houses in the distance, and Carlos could imagine Celia searching for the grimoire inside.

"Sylvia, you must have noticed Celia's reaction when she saw Frilian's parents, right?" He chuckled softly. "Although I don't know what happened to her, I know that Vlame's parents died at the hands of demons. Tell me, how can I face my own race?"

"But it's different," Sylvia said softly. "Like I said before, my mother also died at the hands of demons, but I know you are different from those demons who only know how to kill and deceive. I hope you won't take their mistakes onto yourself. If one person kills another, it's the killer's problem, not the problem of all humanity."

"Sylvia, although I didn't refute your statement before, I have something to tell you now." Carlos took a deep breath. "The demons' slaughter of humans is widespread, and your statement just now cannot stand under these circumstances. However... thank you for your comfort."

This is his honest opinion.
