Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold
Chapter 32 Frilian
"How come you've used up so much magic power in such a short time?"
Seria said this as soon as she arrived, and at the same time, Vlame handed over the several boxes she was carrying, which Carlos naturally took.
"This..." Before he could explain, Sylvia, who was standing next to him, suddenly shouted.
"Wait a minute! I remember now! Isn't this what my senior master just made?" She strode up to Volamei, reached out and picked up the moon-shaped pendant hanging around his neck. "Was this a gift from my senior master to Master?"
"What's wrong?" Vlame didn't know why his disciple was reacting so strongly.
"That's unfair! It's biased! It's malicious!" Sylvia said, feeling extremely wronged. "The wand I received can't compare to this at all!"
Upon hearing his disciple's words, Vlame looked at Carlos with pleading eyes.
"Alright, alright, I'll give you one for your birthday later, is that alright?" Carlos said helplessly.
To his surprise, Sylvia became even angrier after he said that.
"Hmph, I'm ignoring you."
Is there such a good thing?
Carlos didn't say it aloud, but Vlame's gaze towards him had already become strange.
"What? Let me make this clear, I didn't do anything wrong." Carlos, now carrying two suitcases in each hand, was reminded of his past as a factory worker. "Just because she said that doesn't mean she's right, does it?"
"No." Vlame shook his head, his expression complex. "So, you did something like that for them in that village too?"
Given her intelligence and Carlos's apparent weakness, it was almost self-evident what had just happened in the village.
Celia also watched Carlos with great interest.
"Why not do what you can do? Besides, I think I'm the selfish one."
Why do you say that?
Upon hearing his answer, Vlame couldn't help but ask curiously, and Sylvie also perked up her ears.
As for Celia, she stood aside, seemingly unwilling to interfere.
"Because I went there with a purpose, whether it was to prevent them from possibly dying because of the demons in the future, or to find that feeling of reluctance that I might have."
Even Carlos himself didn't know when he became such a saint.
But that's really what he thought.
"You..." Vlame didn't know how to say it properly.
Even if it were her, she wouldn't have such noble thoughts, because in reality, this is a good thing for that village, and there's no selfishness involved at all.
In addition, Vlamé was quite concerned about Carlos's recent remarks.
"Let's not talk about that. I sensed some very interesting reactions over to the east." However, before she could make a move, Carlos looked at Celia, skipping over the previous topic, "You should have sensed it too, right? That magical power is quite immense."
"Are you planning to go take a look?" Celia asked, observing the different reactions of the other three. "It's up to you. I was just planning to wander around with you anyway."
Carlos looked at her with a smile.
He said he only intended to follow along, but if they really encountered any danger, he didn't believe Celia wouldn't step in.
"I'm not in a rush, and since you said that the demonic power is so great, that person might become our helper later." Although Vlame hadn't found out, she trusted the findings of Carlos and her master.
"Let's go then."
The group of four headed east.
Sylvia truly kept her word; she said she would ignore Carlos, and she really did ignore him the entire way.
Vlame recalled something that had happened before. She remembered walking in this forest with her master, and then Carlos made a fool of himself in front of her master.
Looking back now, was he saying that for his own sake?
Vlame wasn't sure, because she hadn't asked Carlos in person, and perhaps he had already forgotten about it.
……
"It seems we've been discovered." Vlame sensed the astonishing magical fluctuations emanating from not far away.
"Neither of us suppressed our magic, so we were destined to be discovered by the other side," Carlos retorted.
"What are you doing here?" The silver-haired, green-eyed elf entered the four people's field of vision. Her gaze first swept over Seria, and then over the others.
When she saw Carlos, her brows furrowed involuntarily, but she resisted the urge to attack him.
"Demons?"
"Yes." Carlos readily admitted this and dropped the pretense of concealing his demonic features. "My name is Carlos, this is my junior sister Vlame, and this person who doesn't look very bright is her disciple Sylvia. Finally, this is Celia, who is Vlame's and my master. We came here with them to see if there are any ancient magic books, and we have absolutely no intention of invading."
Presumably this was one of Celia and Vlame's objectives, he said so, while also sharing information about his side with them.
The silver-haired elf ignored him and looked at Seria instead. She could sense that Seria was the strongest of the four and that she, like Seria, belonged to the elven race.
"You are very strong, but you are not welcome here."
"It's been a long time since I've seen someone of my kind. I've even forgotten when I last saw an elf, although I had considered this possibility before I came." Celia walked straight up to the silver-haired elf and whispered in her ear, "But do you think I need your permission, the strongest in this village?"
The two elves, who were about the same height, remained motionless in the breeze.
Seria had no intention of taking on an apprentice, even though the elf's talent was quite good.
After all, even if she accepted Vlamed at the time, it was just an act of impulse.
"My name is Frilian." The elf named Frilian glanced at Celia, then looked deeply at Carlos. Only then did she notice that the demon's hands were filled with magical tools, making him look like a laborer. "Come with me."
"Looks like we're being disliked because of you," Vlame said, turning to Carlos with a smile.
"Stop gloating. Don't you think about who dragged me into this? And Master was just stirring up trouble too, wasn't he?" Carlos said helplessly, but he wasn't really angry. "But this elf's talent is really good. It feels like it's almost as good as you, although it's completely incomparable to Master."
Not only could they see his hidden demon identity, but they also directly pointed out that Seria was the strongest fighter among them.
Carlos would never believe it if it weren't for some magical talent.
"I heard everything," Frilian said calmly from the front.
"What? I said it on purpose for you to hear!" Carlos shouted.
"Why take a demon as your disciple?" Frilian turned to ask Celia, her tone tinged with confusion. "Don't you know demons are all deceitful creatures?"
"Your magical skills are too weak, which is why you can't see the reason," Celia said calmly.
"Oh." This was the first time Frilian had been told that her magical skills were too weak, but she really couldn't find the words to refute it.
As the strongest person in the village, she had a clear understanding of the difference in strength between the two.
If it were just a matter of the magic power being slightly weaker, that would be fine, but now it's not just a little weaker, it's a whole order of magnitude weaker.
In the face of absolute numbers, skill becomes meaningless, and besides, she estimated that she was no match for her opponent in terms of manipulating and controlling magic.
If the gap is this large and you still want to win, the only possibility is that the other party wants her to win.
Faced with an opponent she couldn't possibly defeat, Frillie wisely chose to back down.
