Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold

Chapter 29 Split Operations

"We'll be parting ways from here."

Standing on the forest path, Carlos spoke to the others.

At that moment, looking at the three female genitals in front of him, he suddenly felt a sense of unease.

"By the way, I just realized, you guys all seem to be girls? I feel really uncomfortable here. Wouldn't it be better if the gender ratio in the group was more balanced?"

"Is there a problem?" Vlame glanced at him, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Do you still have those kinds of thoughts?"

"Uh..." Carlos decided to remain silent and ignore the gaze that Sylvia was casting at him from beside him.

"We'll meet here then, or I'll come find you." Celia showed no interest in their conversation and went straight to moving on to the itinerary.

"Then I'll follow my senior master. Goodbye, Master." Sylvia waved to Volamey instead of going with Celia.

"What's going on?" Vlame stopped in his tracks, puzzled by his disciple's behavior.

She assumed the other person would follow her.

"Because I don't want my senior uncle to be alone, and I'm also very curious about the place where he used to live," Sylvia said.

"That works too." Vlame nodded. "But now that you mention it, I'm a little curious myself. How about we get our things first, and then go together?"

Despite being told that, she didn't think it was a bad thing to learn about Carlos, since she hadn't completely completed the task Celia had given her yet.

"Oh, it's alright, I'll go with you." Sylvia pushed Vlame towards Celia. "I'm all grown up now, Master will just have to listen to my retellings from now on."

"Stop pushing me, stop pushing me." Vlame was quite exasperated with her behavior and could only say, "I'll just leave."

Only after Sylvia let go did she look at her disciple with a puzzled expression, but in the end she followed Celia away.

"Hey, wait for me!"

After dealing with her master's affairs, Sylvia turned around and realized that Carlos's figure had almost disappeared, but her magic detection could still detect it. She quickly ran and finally caught up with him.

"Honestly, why are you walking so fast?" Sylvia complained.

"I just get a headache thinking about what's going to happen next." Carlos ignored her excited look at him, which was now filled with the prospect of being alone with her. "Get ready, we're taking off."

"Huh? What?"

Carlos didn't explain to Sylvia, nor did he need to, because the next second their bodies rose into the air and sped away into the distance.

What is incredibly complex for humans is effortless in the eyes of Carlos, a demon.

"Whoosh, this is so exciting! Is this what it feels like to fly?"

Sylvia, who was being carried away, screamed and shouted.

Fortunately, this place is relatively close to where Celie lives, and the surrounding monsters have been cleared away, so even if you shout randomly, you won't encounter any danger.

"Wait a minute! This isn't right!" After the initial excitement subsided, Sylvia suddenly realized, "Can't you just carry me and fly? Why are you treating me like an object to be moved around? It's such a waste of magic!"

"What's this talk about saving magic power? The consumption isn't much anyway," Carlos said earnestly. "Besides, there are differences between men and women, you should be mindful of that too."

"Tch, even more traditional than my dad."

Hearing Sylvia's mutterings, Carlos's face darkened, but he didn't want to argue about it, as it was really unnecessary.

"By the way, there's something I'm curious about, Carlos. Tell me the truth, is your relationship with Master really that of senior and junior brothers and sisters, as you said before?" After a while, Sylvia asked.

She never believed this claim from the beginning. After all, she had spent so much time with Vlame since childhood. If there really was a senior brother, she couldn't possibly not know about it.

As a child, Vlamé wouldn't have kept so many things from her.

"It was fake before, but it's real now." Carlos no longer intended to treat her like a fool.

"I'm very interested in this experience, so please tell me if you have the chance," Sylvia said like a curious child.

"Don't think that I'll answer you just because you ask." Carlos felt it was a dark history, "just like you didn't tell your master about your confession to me."

"Do I look like the type to actively create rivals for my love life? Of course, I can't say something like that!"

"A love rival?" Carlos asked, puzzled by the word. "Why do you think that?"

Vlame isn't like Sylvia, who's love-struck. She knew her demonic identity from the beginning and even went through what she did. So, she's in a completely different situation from Sylvia.

"Don't worry about it. I'll stop it even if the chances are slim." Sylvia crossed her arms. She had lost interest in [flight magic] and started talking about her favorite thing at this age. "It's my intuition."

Can I say you're annoying?

"You're not human."

"..."

Carlos remained silent.

There's nothing wrong with what he said, but why does he feel like punching her?

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say anything bad about you. In fact, not being human is a good thing to me."

Why do I feel like hitting her even more now?

However, Carlos still asked, "What do you mean by 'it's actually an advantage'?"

"Because the competition has lessened," Sylvia explained with a smile. "I imagine you, as a demon, wouldn't easily tell others about this, right? At least very few people know about it, so doesn't that give me a much better chance?"

"Besides, I think even if you're incredibly cold, you'd probably feel a little bit attracted to someone as stubborn as me, right?"

In the darkness, though her expression was obscured, Sylvia kept her eyes fixed on Carlos, waiting for his reaction.

"You answered completely wrong." Carlos sighed. "If you were to encounter a real demon, he wouldn't even be moved by such a thing, let alone be tempted."

"Oh~" Sylvia smiled knowingly. "First of all, if I were to encounter that kind of demon, I definitely wouldn't like him. Secondly... I just overheard some very valuable information."

So, Carlos didn't consider himself a true demon?

Sylvie thought for a moment and then decided to keep this information from Vlame for the time being.

For no other reason than to wait until she successfully takes over.

"Alright, since you've been so honest, I'll answer you honestly too." Carlos paused for a moment. "Your answer just now is a deduction."

"No way—!" Sylvia immediately looked like she wanted to hug his leg, but since she was in the air, her movements were restricted, so she could only express her emotions in words.

"Why are points being deducted?!"

"Please! As long as I don't lose points, I'll do anything!"

Carlos ignored her, but he never expected that she would say something like that.

That's quite a dream. He even said he'd do anything, but in his opinion, if he actually agreed, it would be a reward for Sylvia.

Let's keep quiet for now.

Not long after, Carlos stopped.

"Have we arrived?" In the darkness, Sylvia could see the outline of the village by the moonlight. Her tone was very calm, as if she wasn't the one who had just been shouting and begging for forgiveness.

"We've arrived, but..." Carlos hesitated for a moment, "It's getting late. Let's stay here for the night and move on tomorrow morning."
