Water Margin: Gao Yanei is actually a Gal Genius

Chapter 7 'Innate Divine Strength'

Lu Zhishen crossed his arms and looked Gao Jin up and down with interest. "Brother, you've been practicing your moves for over a month. Would you like to spar with me?"

Upon hearing this, Gao Jin blushed. He knew his own limitations. "No fighting, no fighting. Why fight? Let's just compare our skills."

"What methods?" Lin Chong asked curiously.

Gao Jin raised his finger and said, "Whoever can move that stone the farthest, will be the elder brother, how about that?"

In the corner of the courtyard, there was a huge, square, and rather heavy rock.

Lu Zhishen approached the rock, rolled up his sleeves, spat twice onto his palm, and bent down to try it.

The monk's face turned red, and the veins on his forehead bulged. "Hah!" The boulder was flipped over and fell back to the ground, making the ground tremble.

"Brother, your strength is unmatched, I, Lin, am humbled." Although Lin Chong really wanted to compete for the position of the eldest brother, this boulder was simply too heavy. He was not known for his strength, and if he really went up there, he probably wouldn't be able to move it an inch.

Lu Zhishen returned to his seat, his expression now normal. He looked at Gao Jin and asked, "Brother, what do you say? Do you submit or not?"

"Master, your strength is unparalleled! I still want to give it a try." Gao Jin got up and walked to the warhorse tied to the side. He took two iron rods from the saddle and then walked to the rock.

He had been thinking about this for more than ten days, and when he accidentally saw the huge rock in the yard, he had this idea: to move the rock using a lever.

He had already tried this method in the mansion, and it was guaranteed to be foolproof.

An iron rod had been sharpened into a point. Gao Jin inserted the point into the bottom of the boulder and then placed a solid stone under the rod to form a simple lever.

He went to the end of the iron rod that was raised and suddenly pressed all his strength onto the iron rod.

Just like Lu Zhishen before him, Gao Jin's face was flushed and his veins were bulging. Just as he had expected, the boulder was pried over, and the sound of it hitting the ground was like a deafening thunderclap.

He tried again, mimicking the same method, and another clap of thunder echoed in the courtyard. After this second attempt, the iron rod in his hand was slightly deformed.

After throwing the iron rod on the ground, Gao Jin returned to his seat, picked up his wine bowl, and apologized to Lin Chong and Lu Zhishen, saying, "I used some tricks, please don't mind."

"What's there to mind? Brother Gao Jin's move was absolutely brilliant." Lu Zhishen conceded defeat with a hearty laugh, raising his wine bowl.

"Brother, your methods are impressive; I admire you," Lin Chong said, raising his wine bowl as well.

"Brothers, let's drink this!" Gao Jin tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp, silently chanting in his heart.

The abilities that can be extracted and copied are: 'Innate Superhuman Strength', 'Mastery of Martial Arts', 'Military Battle Experience', 'Seemingly Foolish but Actually Wise', 'Good Fortune', and 'Personal Charisma'.

[Congratulations, host, on acquiring 'Innate Divine Strength,' as the saying goes: 'Iron arms shake mountains, gnarled branches crack the earth. A thunderous roar rises, startling even ghosts and gods. A monk's staff sweeps away dust, a fierce wind whips up banners. After guarding the pass to the west, the world roams freely.']

[“Innate Super Strength”: Your strength has increased.]

Gao Jin put down his wine bowl and carefully observed the changes in his body. He, who used to be a head shorter than Lin Chong and Lu Zhishen, had suddenly grown to be the same height as them. Although his physique hadn't changed as dramatically as Lu Zhishen's, he still looked much more robust than Lin Chong beside him.

The most amazing thing is that the other two people seemed to ignore it, as if Ko Chun's physique had always been the same and had never changed.

Feeling the surging power within his body, Gao Jin picked up Lu Zhishen's iron staff and began to wield it in the open space.

This heavy object, weighing sixty-two pounds, was something Gao Jin had wielded before, but he would often find his arms aching and weak after only two or three swings. Yet now, however, it was completely different; he wielded it with the ease that Lu Zhishen usually did, making it seem effortless.

Lin Chong and Lu Zhishen cheered, while the big monk continued to jeer, "You, Gao Jin, have been hiding your true abilities and toying with me all this time, haven't you? You actually have such strength, haven't you? Have you been unwilling to spar with me before?"

Gao Jin wasn't the kind of person to betray someone after they've served their purpose. His friendship with Lu Zhishen wasn't solely based on his admiration for Lu's abilities, but also on Lu's genuine generosity and honesty.

Gao Jin stopped wielding his iron staff, raised the wine jar, and without explaining anything, said directly, "It was my fault, brother. I will drink this jar of wine to apologize to you two brothers."

After saying that, he picked up the wine jar and poured it into his mouth. The wine flowed down the corner of his mouth and soaked a large part of his clothes. He finished the jar of wine in no time.

"Brother is so generous!" "Brother Ko Chun has such a generous heart!"

"Brothers, drink up. I'll show you some tricks to liven things up." The smell of alcohol, heat, and humidity rushed into his head all at once, so he simply took off his clothes and, holding his iron staff, returned to the open space and began to dance.

First, he practiced the kung fu taught by Lu Zhishen twice, but it wasn't very effective, so he switched to the routine taught by Lin Chong, using the monk's staff as a club, and practiced it twice as well.

Suddenly, Gao Jin's mind flashed with various martial arts techniques he had encountered in his previous life. Taking advantage of the alcohol, he didn't care about routines or moves anymore and used whatever came to mind.

The two men at the table watched with gleam in their eyes, thoroughly enjoying themselves and wishing they could befriend Gao Jin as soon as possible.

"Brother, you're really good! I'll join you in a little sparring." Lin Chong, itching to join in, grabbed a broadsword from the side, twirled it a few times, and with a whooshing sound, swept into the arena to fight Gao Jin.

Gao Jin, half-awake from his drunken stupor, wielded his iron staff with unrestrained, effortless skill, each move powerful and heavy.

Lin Chong remained clear-headed, sometimes leading, sometimes dodging, responding to each move with effortless ease, as if playing a game.

Lu Zhishen watched anxiously from the sidelines, wanting nothing more than to enter the arena and have a proper spar with Gao Jin. However, he lacked Lin Chong's skill, and a fight between a brute and a drunkard was bound to result in one of them being injured.

He didn't want to spar with Lin Chong either. His junior brother had already mastered the art of deflecting force to a high level, and it would be pointless to risk his life without doing so.

Left with no other choice, Lu Zhishen could only keep drinking at the banquet, his eyes darting around anxiously, when he noticed that there was another person in this secluded place.

It turned out that outside the low wall of the dilapidated courtyard, a Taoist priest in his forties or fifties was standing, intently watching the two people fighting in the arena, shaking his head incessantly.

Noticing the old Taoist's movements, Lu Zhishen shouted, "You Taoist priest, you look like a shifty-eyed monster, what are you spying on here for?!"

Lin Chong and Gao Jin stopped what they were doing and looked out of the courtyard.

Gao Jin felt the Taoist priest looked familiar, and after trying to recall his past life's memories, he realized he didn't recognize him. He then nudged Lu Zhishen, saying, "Brother, this Taoist priest is here to cause trouble for you."

The old Taoist priest was displeased upon hearing this, but he didn't say anything more. He just stared at Lin Chong with a cold smile on his lips.

Lin Chong frowned: "Chen Xizhen, what are you doing here? I have said before that in military exercises, everyone must rely on their own abilities. Your brother Chen Xiyi was a good man, and I also regret his death."

The Taoist priest called Chen Xizhen remained silent, watching Lin Chong's hand gestures. After a while, he shifted his gaze to Gao Jin, his eyes filled with reminiscence. He scrutinized Gao Jin for a moment, then finally looked at Lu Zhishen.

"Master, is Gao Yanei here?"

Lu Zhishen didn't think the tone was meant to cause trouble, and since they wanted to find Gao Yanei, he wasn't sure how to respond, so he turned his gaze to Gao Jin.

Half-drunk and half-awake, Gao Jin was much more honest, making no attempt to conceal his identity. "I am Gao Jin, the playboy. What does the Taoist priest want with me?"

"Hiss." Chen Xizhen, standing outside the broken wall, gasped, a thought forming in his mind. Had the city of Tokyo gone mad, or had he become insane from cultivating Taoism?

The man stood tall and imposing, with a wolf-like waist and ape-like arms, eight feet in height, his body imposing and his appearance dignified. His eyes shone like cold stars, and his eyebrows were as black as if painted with lacquer. His broad chest exuded an aura of power that could rival ten thousand men; his words were lofty and resonant, revealing a soaring ambition. He was bold and courageous, like a lion descending from the clouds; his strong bones and muscles were like a mythical beast shaking the earth. He was like a demon lord descended from heaven, truly a god among men.

It is said that one's appearance reflects one's heart, so how come this bold and unrestrained man is nicknamed "Playboy"?
