Chapter 68 Blood Rain Stops
Day 4 of the apocalypse, 08:58 AM.
He knew that the first catastrophe was about to end.
"Xiao Chen, is the rain going to stop? Is the disaster over?" Liang Siqi's eyes brightened slightly, her tone carrying a hint of uncertain hope.
"The first disaster is about to end." Lin Chen's voice was calm and steady.
"...The first calamity?" The light on Liang Siqi's face quickly faded, replaced by a somber expression. "You mean, there are others?"
"Hmm." Lin Chen gazed at the leaden sky and said slowly, "After the blood rain comes 'extreme cold.' Global temperatures will gradually drop below minus seventy degrees Celsius, with blizzards and ice covering everything, like an ice age. And the transition period will only last three days!"
The two elderly people standing behind them listened to these words with deep worry at first, but then their eyes gradually calmed down and became unusually calm and firm.
Liang Siqi trembled slightly, and a bottomless fear welled up in her eyes.
How can humans who have just survived a bloodbath of zombies survive in a frozen hell of minus seventy degrees Celsius? Just imagining it made her fingertips go cold.
"Siqi, pack your things, we need to leave here." Lin Chen's voice pulled her back to reality, calm and composed.
"Leave?...Where to?" She looked up blankly.
"Go to 'Tianshui Garden,' I'm going to build a shelter there. Remember?" Lin Chen smiled slightly, a smile that carried a reassuring power.
"Yes...yes!" Liang Siqi suddenly realized, immediately turning around and grabbing her mother's hand, "Mom, hurry up and get ready!"
Liang's mother didn't move, but looked at her daughter tenderly, tears welling in her eyes, and said softly, "Siqi, you go with Xiaolin. Your parents... will stay here."
"Mom? It's very close, let's go together." Liang Siqi hadn't yet caught the farewell in his words.
"Silly girl," Liang's father interjected, trying to lighten his tone, "It's easier for two people to move around. We're old, and going with us would only be a burden."
He smiled, but behind that smile lay a heavy, almost tragic love.
Lin Chen watched quietly, then suddenly spoke up: "Uncle and Aunt, if you really don't want to go through all that trouble, I have another place I can take you to—a place like a 'Shangri-La'."
"A paradise on earth?" The three of them were stunned at the same time.
Lin Chen didn't explain much, he just stretched out his hand: "Siqi, hold your uncle and aunt's hands, close your eyes, calm down, and don't resist."
Despite their doubts, they did as instructed. Lin Chen's mind stirred—in an instant, the world changed.
This time, he chose a wide and quiet riverside meadow upstream, far away from the area where He Meijiao and the others were.
"You can open your eyes now," Lin Chen said softly, gently squeezing Liang Siqi's palm with his fingertips.
The three of them slowly opened their eyes.
A gentle breeze rustled the tips of the grass, a river murmured in the distance, the sky was crystal clear, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of plants. Compared to the bloody and filthy apocalypse, this place was peaceful and serene, without screams or death.
"Xiao Chen, where is this...?" Liang Siqi looked around in shock, her voice trembling. Liang's parents were also stunned, their faces full of disbelief.
"This is my special space," Lin Chen said calmly but firmly, "a new world that is growing. There are no zombies, and no natural disasters. Uncle and Aunt can live here in peace—that's why I dare to promise Siqi that I can take good care of you."
"Xiao Chen..." Liang Siqi looked at him, then at the heavenly world, and a surge of gratitude and emotion instantly overwhelmed her.
Ignoring her parents' presence, she suddenly threw herself into Lin Chen's arms, stood on tiptoe, and forcefully kissed his lips.
The kiss carried the relief of surviving a catastrophe and the excitement of escaping a desperate situation.
Lin Chen stepped back slightly when she was starting to have trouble breathing, and whispered in her ear, "Your uncle and aunt are watching."
"Ah..." Liang Siqi exclaimed softly, her cheeks instantly burning red, but she still wrapped her arms around his waist and refused to let go, burying her burning face in his shoulder.
Lin Chen smiled and said to the still-shocked elderly couple, "Uncle and Aunt, please settle in here for now." With a thought, a fully equipped RV appeared on the grass. "Siqi and I will go and move all our belongings in."
The two returned to reality and within minutes they had taken everything the Liang family could carry—furniture, clothes, photos, and especially the books that Liang's father treasured—into their space.
When they returned to the Creation Pearl, Liang's parents had already begun quietly sorting through the old things they had moved in. Each of those yellowed pages and old-fashioned ornaments carried the weight of bygone years.
Lin Chen and Liang Siqi helped tidy up for a while, and then Liang's mother gently pressed her daughter's hand: "Lin, Siqi, you two go and attend to the important matters outside. We can take our time tidying up here."
Lin Chen put down a rather old porcelain vase he was holding and stood up. Liang Siqi also understood—her parents were now safe, but the outside world was at a critical juncture where every second counted.
He took out a motorhome and placed it by the river: "Uncle and Aunt, please settle in first. I'll build you a comfortable house here in a while."
Lin Chen also left behind a large amount of fresh ingredients and clean water.
"Mom and Dad, we'll head out now," Liang Siqi said softly.
Lin Chen took her hand, and in a flash, the two were back in the spacious and quiet living room of the Liang family home.
"Come on, I'll take you to meet the others." He put his arm around Liang Siqi's waist and headed straight for the Tinglan Hotel without delay—Li Ya and the others were already waiting there to gather.
The bloody rain had stopped, and an eerie silence hung over the streets. A dozen minutes later, the hotel came into view.
The hall was packed with nearly 500 people, more than 300 of whom were new faces than yesterday, yet the atmosphere was orderly.
Li Ya's eyes lit up the moment she saw Lin Chen. Without hesitation, she ran over and flew into his arms like a bird returning to its nest, completely ignoring the stares of those around them. Lin Chen smiled and caught her, giving her a tight hug.
Immediately afterwards, Su Yun, the twin sisters, Liu Feifei, and others surrounded him, each taking a hug. Even the usually reserved Liu Feifei blushed instantly when he gently embraced her, lowering her head and stepping aside.
Li Ya then noticed Liang Siqi next to Lin Chen, blinked, and gave a bright smile: "Sister, are you also with Brother Lin?"
Looking at the group of beautiful women with different temperaments in front of her, especially Li Ya's youthful and radiant beauty and natural intimacy, Liang Siqi felt a slight blush on her face and nodded: "Yes...."
Li Ya immediately took her hand warmly: "Welcome, sister! Come, let me introduce you to everyone..." As she led Liang Siqi into the crowd, she was a little surprised: Brother Lin only brought one person back this time?
Once everyone had calmed down, Lin Chen looked around and asked, "Xiaoya, is everyone here?"
"All rescued, Brother Lin," Li Ya reported solemnly. "Yesterday we rescued 325 people from the two universities, plus our original sisters, and two who volunteered to stay at the hotel. Most of the other survivors left in a hurry after the blood rain stopped. We took the hotel's inventory; they would have been waiting to die if they had stayed."
"Alright." Lin Chen's expression hardened, and his voice echoed throughout the hall. "Now, everyone, let's move out. Destination: 'Tianshui Garden'."
The group soon arrived at the grand yet dilapidated gate of Tianshui Garden.
Many zombies that had poured in from the streets roamed the neighborhood, their hoarse growls echoing between the empty buildings.
Lin Chen quickly distributed weapons to the new members and arranged for "veterans to mentor newcomers," with Li Ya in overall command, dividing them into small teams to clear out the zombies one by one.
This will be their future home, and it must be completely eradicated. All survivors found inside the villa were gathered and taken to the central landscaped plaza.
Lin Chen himself circled the entire perimeter of the community, taking out a large number of empty heavy containers from his spatial storage to build a sturdy and tall temporary defensive line.
After the construction was completed, he went to the square. Of the 61 villas found, only about fifty survivors were discovered.
Among the crowd, several women with exceptional looks and poise stood out – after all, this was a top-tier villa district in Guangzhou, and its residents were all wealthy and influential, including many meticulously groomed and strikingly beautiful women.
