Apocalypse: The Primordial Pearl Recognizes Its Master, Starting with Infinite Space
Chapter 282 Chen Huaiyong appears
Lin Chen's question made the young man's expression become somewhat unnatural.
He rubbed his hands together, his voice lowering, "Qianqian... used to be my girlfriend. Later, Commander Chen took a liking to her, so I... introduced her to him."
He then added, "But for now, we're still secretly keeping in touch."
Lin Chen looked at his smug expression and couldn't help but click his tongue inwardly.
He cuckolded himself and was even proud of it? This guy really is willing to do anything to climb the ladder.
"Where does she live?" Lin Chen didn't comment, only asking the key question.
The young man quickly gave an address: "The third villa on the north side, the one with sentries standing guard outside."
Lin Chen nodded, his gaze sweeping over everyone present: "Forget what just happened."
Everyone responded in unison, "Yes."
Lin Chen snapped his fingers, and in a flash, he disappeared from the spot.
Everyone's eyes glazed over for a moment, then returned to normal.
Someone looked down and saw that the overturned charcoal brazier was still smoking, and immediately cursed, "Damn it, who knocked over the stove? Trying to burn the house down?"
"Hurry up and start a fire again, it's freezing." The bearded man rubbed his hands together and bent down to pick up the scattered charcoal pieces.
No one remembered the uninvited guest from earlier; it was as if nothing had ever happened.
At this moment, Lin Chen had already silently landed in the shadow of the third villa to the north.
He pressed himself against the wall, his gaze sweeping over his surroundings. Two sentries stood guard at the door, fully armed and alert.
The curtains on the second floor were drawn tightly, allowing only a faint sliver of light to pass through.
After confirming that there were no other sentries, Lin Chen slipped into the villa.
The interior of the villa was more cozy than Lin Chen had imagined.
Warm yellow light shone down from the crystal chandelier, illuminating the leather sofa, mahogany coffee table, oil paintings on the walls, and a piano in the corner.
Compared to the icy and snowy world outside, this place is like another world altogether.
When Lin Chen stepped into the living room, a woman in a silk robe was curled up on the sofa flipping through magazines.
She was about twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with long, flowing hair, a pretty face, slender ankles, and light pink nail polish.
In this apocalyptic world, this exquisite detail stands out starkly.
Hearing footsteps, the woman looked up and saw a strange man standing in the middle of the living room. Her pupils contracted sharply.
She instinctively reached for something under the sofa cushion, her movement quick, but Lin Chen was even faster.
But as soon as she reached out, she met Lin Chen's eyes.
Mind suggestion, activated silently.
The woman's eyes glazed over for a moment, then cleared again.
She sat up straight, placed her hands on her knees, and quietly looked at Lin Chen.
"You're Qianqian?"
"Yes."
"Where is Chen Huaiyong?" Lin Chen asked directly.
"I don't know. He's been sleeping in a different place every night lately, and he never tells me in advance."
Qianqian's voice was calm and devoid of any emotion, "But he will come to me tomorrow night. His personal adjutant delivered the message himself."
"Can you get in touch with him?"
"cannot."
Is he still in this villa area?
"It should be there."
Lin Chen frowned slightly: "What do you mean?"
"He's a person with high standards when it comes to living conditions. Even if he's hiding, he probably wouldn't go to a slum."
Qianqian answered every question without reservation, and her tone remained completely flat.
Lin Chen remained silent for a moment, going over this information in his mind.
Now that he was certain the other person was still in the shelter, he decided to search for them himself first. If he couldn't find them, he would wait until tomorrow night.
He turned and left the villa.
Behind her, Qianqian's eyes glazed over for a moment before returning to normal.
She glanced down at the magazine in her hand, frowned, and felt as if she had been spacing out for a while, but couldn't remember what it was. She shook her head and continued reading the magazine.
Next, Lin Chen began to investigate the villa area one by one.
He searched hundreds of villas one by one, from the basement to the attic, from the garage to the garden, leaving no corner unchecked.
He moved with incredible speed, his figure darting silently between buildings, unnoticed by the patrolling sentries and spies lurking in the shadows.
However, nothing was found.
Chen Huaiyong has clearly disrupted his life rhythm and habits, and even his residence has become completely unpredictable.
Lin Chen stood on the roof of the last villa, gazing at the hazy horizon, his brows furrowing slightly. This person's counter-surveillance skills were truly impressive.
It seems I'll have to wait until tomorrow night.
Soon, Lin Chen returned to Liu Feifei's camp. Liu Feifei, Duan Rong, and Tian Tian were gathered together, discussing something. When they saw him enter, they all looked up.
Lin Chen briefly recounted his experience of the day.
"Isn't this guy too cautious?" Liu Feifei couldn't help but sigh after hearing this. "He changes his residence every day, and even his own subordinates don't know where he is."
"He was a military region commander before, so I'm not surprised by his counter-surveillance capabilities." Duan Rong's tone was calm, but her eyes revealed a hint of seriousness.
Tian Tian tilted her head, somewhat puzzled: "Then why is he so fond of one woman? Such a cautious person shouldn't have such an obvious weakness."
Lin Chen shook his head, picked up the water glass on the table, and took a sip: "Only he himself probably knows."
He put down his cup, his tone calm yet resolute, "However, all the information we have so far is true and reliable. He should be going to see Qianqian tomorrow night."
The three nodded.
------------
The following evening, after dinner, Lin Chen set off alone again.
Night had fallen completely. He found his way to Qianqian's villa with practiced ease, silently slipped into the shadows, and hid himself in the attic above the master bedroom on the second floor.
From this angle, you can overlook the entire living room without being spotted.
Downstairs, Qianqian was clearly dressed up carefully.
She changed into an elegant light blue dress, her long hair was tied up, revealing her slender neck. She sat in front of the piano, her fingertips gently falling, and the music flowed out like water.
In this cold, post-apocalyptic world, this elegance seems somewhat out of place, yet it is captivating.
Lin Chen leaned against the wooden beam in the attic, closed his eyes to rest, and waited patiently.
Time passed second by second.
The piano music stopped, and Qianqian got up to pour herself a glass of red wine. She sat on the sofa, flipping through magazines and occasionally glancing at the clock on the wall. She seemed a little anxious as she waited.
Around midnight, there was finally some movement outside the villa.
Three figures crept over stealthily, their footsteps light, clearly not wanting to alert anyone.
Just as the sentry at the gate was about to step forward to stop them, the leader hissed, "It's me." The sentry immediately shrank back and dared not ask any more questions.
The two men stayed outside to keep watch, while only the leader pushed open the door and entered the villa alone.
"Brother Yong, you're here?" Qianqian stood up from the sofa, her voice tinged with a hint of coquettishness and grievance. "I've been waiting for you until now, I was almost asleep."
Chen Huaiyong took off his hat and scarf, revealing a face with distinct features.
He was in his early forties, with a square face and a sharp, soldierly air about him, but the dark circles under his eyes betrayed his fatigue from the past few days.
He took off his coat and hung it on the hanger, walked to the sofa and sat down, putting his arm around Qianqian's shoulder.
"There's nothing I can do, it's a special time, you've suffered." His voice was low and a little hoarse.
