Just then, Mr. Zhou smiled slightly.

The smile was faint, as if a heavy burden had been lifted, or as if one was finally free from the burden.

"No need for that," he said, his voice as soft as the wind. "Thank you."

He took a step back, as if to close the door.

The blond-haired guy panicked, blocked the door, and hurriedly grabbed a shortwave device from the back of one of his underlings.

"Master Zhou, wait a minute!" he shouted. "I... I need to contact our boss!"

My fingers trembled as I pressed the call button. The signal light flashed a few times, and the call connected.

Zhou Tiannian's voice came from the other end, sounding tired and anxious: "What is it?"

The blond-haired guy took a deep breath, his voice trembling slightly: "Boss, we've found him. But... Master Zhou... he's dying."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the communicator, then it exploded.

"Wait! I'm coming right away!"

Zhou Tiannian's voice was urgent and agitated. He hurriedly apologized to Ma Xiaoyan and turned to run away.

When he arrived more than ten minutes later, the henchmen at the door automatically made way for him.

Zhou Tiannian rushed in, but his steps suddenly stopped.

Withered and emaciated. Aged and frail.

The person who once stood in the spotlight and made countless people laugh and cry is now curled up in a corner, like a crumpled old newspaper.

The wrinkles on his face were as deep as if carved by a knife, his eye sockets were sunken, his cheekbones were high, and his skin was sallow and stuck to his bones.

He was huddled inside his cotton-padded coat, looking like a skeleton wrapped in cloth.

The blond-haired boy leaned closer and, his lips trembling, explained what had happened.

He'd already tried his healing powers, but it didn't work... He'd been tormented by the apocalypse for too long, his life force was completely depleted... Only Jiang Yingxue might be able to save Master Zhou's life.

After listening, Zhou Tiannian did not hesitate, took out his shortwave equipment, and almost slammed his fingers on the buttons.

"Boss Lin." His voice trembled, the first time since the apocalypse. "You must save Master Zhou... I beg you."

As he uttered those words, his back bent even more.

Lin Chen listened to the message on the other end of the communicator without hesitation.

He flipped over and mounted Yuanzai, then pulled up the Jiang Yingyue and Jiang Yingxue sisters who were registering their information at the recruitment point.

Before the twins could react, they were lifted onto the bear's back by one on each side, and Yuanzai's four hands flew as they sped towards the port city.

More than ten minutes later, the three people and the bear landed at the door.

The crowd dispersed automatically, and Lin Chen strode in with the twins.

Zhou Tiannian was squatting next to Master Zhou. The henchman who had the healing ability was still desperately trying to output power. The light of the ability flickered on and off, but Master Zhou's complexion did not improve at all.

Lin Chen glanced at it and made a decision immediately.

"The moon's reflection symbolizes the connection of life. The snow's reflection symbolizes the light of life."

He turned to look at the underling who was still casting spells, "Don't stop the healing ability."

The twins didn't ask any further questions.

Jiang Yingyue squatted down and placed her palm on Grandpa Zhou's withered hand.

Pale green threads spread from her fingertips, wrapped around Master Zhou's arm, and burrowed into his chest.

The next moment, Zhou Ye's vital signs, which were so faint they were almost imperceptible, seemed to be steadily supported by something.

It stopped falling.

Jiang Yingxue stood to the side, her hands loosely covering Zhou Ye's body.

Green light poured down from Jiang Yingxue's palm, gently enveloping the aged body, like spring water overflowing a dried-up riverbed, little by little, drop by drop, infusing life into those withered veins.

But Master Zhou's health was too weak.

Jiang Yingxue's superpower was absorbed extremely slowly, like parched land encountering a light rain; the water couldn't penetrate and could only swirl around on the surface.

If it weren't for Jiang Yingyue's life-linking connection keeping him alive, he probably wouldn't even have had the chance to absorb it.

The henchmen beside him didn't dare to stop either. The halo of healing power was wrapped in another layer outside the green light, like a shield or a gentle nourishment.

five minutes.

ten minutes.

twenty minutes.

Master Zhou's complexion finally began to improve at a visible speed.

The sallow color faded, the paleness disappeared, and a faint rosy glow took its place.

The deathly aura that enveloped him seemed to be dispelled by something, retreating little by little.

Half an hour later, he opened his eyes.

My eyes, which had been cloudy for a long time, finally regained some clarity.

He blinked, and what came into view were two identical faces... two pretty little girls, their hands on him, their palms glowing with a soft green light.

The light was warm and cozy, like a quilt that had been aired out in winter, or like being held in your mother's arms when you were a child.

He stared for a while before speaking.

His voice was hoarse, carrying his unique politeness and humility; even in his weakened state, he hadn't lost any of his essential qualities.

"Did you save me?" he asked softly, his gaze shifting between the two girls' faces. "Thank you."

The two sisters simply smiled slightly, nodded, and continued casting the spell.

Zhou Tiannian squatted down beside him, his eyes red-rimmed, and quickly came closer when he heard this.

"Master Zhou, are you feeling better?" His voice was strained, as if afraid that raising his voice would frighten the person. "It was Boss Lin who saved you."

He pointed to the side.

Following his hand, Grandpa Zhou saw a young man standing a few steps away, followed by a round, chubby panda.

The young man's face was calm and expressionless; he simply watched quietly.

Master Zhou glanced at the two girls beside him who were still casting spells, seemingly understanding something, and was about to speak...

Lin Chen shook his head and spoke first.

"Master Zhou, you should thank him the most." His gaze fell on Zhou Tiannian. "He was the one who found us first. Any later, and it might have been too late."

Zhou Tiannian was stunned, his lips moved slightly, and he was somewhat flattered.

Grandpa Zhou looked at Zhou Tiannian, then at Lin Chen, and suddenly smiled softly, his originally aged face instantly coming to life.

"Thank you all," he said softly. "Thank you all."

After another ten minutes of treatment, Grandpa Zhou's life was finally stabilized.

Not only did it regain its previous vitality, it was even better than before the apocalypse.

Jiang Yingxue's life force, combined with her healing abilities, cured all his long-standing ailments.

Zhou Tiannian stood to the side, hesitant to speak, his gaze shifting back and forth between Lin Chen and Master Zhou.

Lin Chen saw right through his intentions.

He smiled, walked up to Master Zhou, and said, "Master Zhou, let me take you somewhere. There's no extreme cold, just like before the apocalypse."

Master Zhou was taken aback for a moment.

Little Yellow Hair had mentioned it before, but he didn't take it seriously.

He's almost seventy years old, and it's already his limit to have survived this long in this apocalypse. How could he dare to dream of a place "like before the apocalypse"?

Zhou Tiannian leaned closer, his eyes still red, and explained, "Master Zhou, don't worry, all of this is true."

Lin Chen nodded: "Once you get there, someone will take care of you. Just relax and don't worry about anything."

Mr. Zhou's eyes welled up with tears.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but his throat felt like it was blocked by something.

In this apocalypse, he had seen too many people fall, and too many people become less than human.

He had grown accustomed to being forgotten and unneeded.

But now, someone has come specifically to find him, someone has used superpowers to bring him back to life, and even told him... there is another place, just like before the apocalypse.

He bent down, intending to bow, but Lin Chen stopped him.

"Master Zhou, please relax and don't resist."

Master Zhou nodded and closed his eyes.

Lin Chen turned to the twin sisters: "Wait a few minutes."

As soon as he finished speaking, he and Master Zhou disappeared from the spot.
