Apocalypse: The Primordial Pearl Recognizes Its Master, Starting with Infinite Space
Chapter 106 The First Residents in the Space
Before we arrived, Bai Xin had briefly explained the possible arrangements.
Lin Chen rescued them from the horde of zombies and built a shelter to protect them—if he truly harbored ill intentions, why would he go to such lengths?
Lin Chen raised his hand and gestured for everyone to be quiet, a faint, reassuring smile on his face.
"Don't worry, everyone," his voice carried a convincing calmness, "that space isn't completely isolated from here. When conditions are right, necessary exchanges and communication will be arranged. Right now, our primary goal is to survive, and to survive better than yesterday."
He turned to the side and pointed to He Meijiao, who was standing quietly to the side: "This is He Meijiao, who will be everyone's liaison officer over there. Her special ability is plant cultivation, which can make crops grow faster and better, and ensure a more reliable harvest. Once we get there, she will work with you. If you encounter any difficulties in life or any technical problems, you can find me through her."
He turned specifically to Li Laosan, the first person to ask a question, and said sincerely, "Uncle, I understand your concerns. Once we get there, if you have any thoughts or needs, just tell Meijiao, and she will pass them on to me. Our goal is to build that place into a new home where everyone can settle down and live a good life, not to lock anyone up."
He Meijiao stepped forward at the opportune moment, nodded gently to everyone, and said in a clear yet reassuring voice, "Hello everyone. My name is He Meijiao."
"Once we get there, we can discuss what seeds to choose, how to plan the land, and what to do about pests and diseases together. I can't guarantee anything else, but as long as we put in the effort and work together, that land will definitely not let us down."
Her words were simple and unadorned, yet they conveyed a deep-rooted confidence that further dispelled the last vestiges of doubt in people's hearts.
Seeing that everyone's emotions had basically stabilized and their eyes showed more expectation than fear, Lin Chen prepared to activate the teleportation.
"Xiao Chen, are you going into... the space?" A familiar voice came from the entrance. Liang Siqi, who had rushed over upon hearing the news, walked over quickly, her face showing a hint of urgency.
"Yes." Lin Chen looked at her, his eyes questioning.
Liang Siqi was a little embarrassed, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes, and she said softly, "I...I want to go in and see my parents. It's been three days since I last saw them. I wonder how they're adjusting over there."
Her voice revealed her longing for her family.
Lin Chen nodded understandingly, his tone gentle: "Okay, no problem. Let's go in together."
He turned to the assembled crowd and loudly instructed, "Listen up, everyone. Now, please hold hands with those next to you and stand as close together as possible. Then close your eyes, relax, clear your mind of all distractions, and don't be nervous or resistant."
Some murmurs and slightly tense deep breaths arose from the crowd, but soon people did as instructed.
Couples held hands tightly, parents held their children's hands firmly, friends supported each other, one after another, forming a continuous line. Everyone closed their eyes, trying to calm their emotions.
With a thought, Lin Chen communicated with the Creation Pearl.
A strange yet gentle spatial fluctuation rippled out silently, enveloping everyone.
The next second, the spot was empty.
"You can open your eyes now."
As Lin Chen's voice rang clearly in their ears, everyone cautiously opened their eyes.
What came into view was not the cramped cave I had imagined, but a vast expanse of lush green fields beyond my wildest imagination!
Unidentified soft green grass stretched to the horizon, a gentle breeze rippled through it, creating waves of green. The air was filled with the fresh, moist scent of earth and grass, and the temperature was pleasant, making the harsh cold outside completely imperceptible.
Above us was a clear and bright sky. Although there was no sun, there was a gentle and even light source illuminating everything.
"This...this is..."
"Wow, this is huge! This land is so fertile!"
"Oh my god, it's really not cold anymore!" she said, taking off her thick winter clothes.
A chorus of gasps and gasps of disbelief rose and fell as people greedily inhaled the clean, warm air, their faces filled with awe and joy.
Lin Chen's mind moved again. In an instant, piles of various crop seeds, neatly categorized and packaged, appeared as if by magic on the open ground beside him, piling up like mountains.
Next came all sorts of farm tools—from hoes and shovels to small hand tractors; then came boxes of living supplies: tents, blankets, pots and pans, simple stoves…
To everyone's surprise, amidst a slight commotion, the chickens, ducks, and geese that Lin Chen had previously taken into his spatial dimension flapped their wings and appeared, curiously surveying their new surroundings.
Several chubby little mongrel dogs and a wary tabby cat peeked out curiously; there were even a few adorable calves mooing.
"And livestock!"
"That's great! From now on, we'll not only have grain, but maybe even eggs and milk!"
The flame of hope burned brightly in everyone's eyes.
Lin Chen waved his hand one last time, and rows of sturdy container houses appeared neatly on the edge of the grassland, forming the prototype of a temporary settlement.
"These containers will serve as temporary shelter for everyone. In the future, we will work together to build a stronger and more comfortable home here."
As everyone gazed upon this land brimming with vitality, and then at the tangible supplies and accommodations before them, the last trace of unease in the hearts of all those chosen to come here vanished completely.
Instead, they are filled with enthusiasm and boundless anticipation for the future.
"Meijiao, I'm leaving everyone here to be settled in. I'll come in again tomorrow. If there's anything urgent or that I can't handle, just let me know then." Lin Chen patted He Meijiao on the shoulder, entrusting her with this important task.
"Okay, Brother Lin! Don't worry!" He Meijiao nodded vigorously, finally finding her own value.
Lin Chen then left the settlement with Liang Siqi and teleported towards the place where Liang's parents lived.
Upon arrival, I saw two elderly people sitting in front of the RV, playing Go. Time seemed to flow exceptionally slowly and peacefully here.
"Dad! Mom!" Liang Siqi's eyes welled up with tears, and the words came out of her mouth. Her steps quickened involuntarily. In that instant, she seemed to have turned back into the little girl in her parents' eyes forever.
"Siqi? Xiaochen?" Upon hearing the voice, Liang's mother looked up, and a surprised smile immediately spread across her face. Liang's father also put down the chess piece in his hand and looked over with a kind expression.
The family exchanged brief greetings and shared their recent updates.
Upon learning that nearly two hundred new residents would soon be joining them in cultivating and developing the space, the elderly couple exchanged a glance and spoke almost simultaneously:
"This is great news!" Mr. Liang pushed up his glasses, his tone somewhat urgent. "There are so many people, there must be children among them. Your mother and I are just sitting around doing nothing anyway, let's move in."
Mother Liang nodded repeatedly, holding her daughter's hand: "Yes, Siqi, your father and I have been teaching all our lives. We're not good at farming, but we can teach children to read and write and explain principles. Living together will allow us to look after each other and make it more lively."
Seeing the renewed spark in their parents' eyes—a desire to connect with others and contribute their remaining energy—neither Lin Chen nor Liang Siqi voiced any objection.
They understood that humans are ultimately social animals, and while the two elders had enjoyed their quiet lives here before, they were bound to feel lonely in the long run.
Now that they have new communities and people who need them, this may be a better place for the elderly to settle down.
"That's good. There are more people there, making life more convenient, and we can always find someone to help us if anything happens," Liang Siqi said softly, taking her mother's arm.
So, Lin Chen and Liang Siqi helped their parents pack their belongings. Actually, only Lin Chen was busy; he just had to put all the items into his spatial storage.
The elderly couple were taken to a new settlement and settled in a container house. The RV was also left behind.
As the elderly couple saw the many children with simple, honest faces and innocent eyes, their smiles grew even wider.
"Siqi, you and Xiaochen should have a baby soon. Your parents are still able to help take care of the child." Looking at the group of children, Liang's mother had an idea.
"Mom, what are you saying? It's still the apocalypse outside." Liang Siqi blushed and couldn't help but scold playfully.
"I think your mother is right." Mr. Liang was also smiling at this moment.
"I think what your uncle and aunt said makes sense." Lin Chen nodded in agreement with a serious expression.
This caused Liang Siqi to laugh and joke around.
This made He Meijiao, who was standing to the side, extremely envious.
Lin Chen and Liang Siqi stayed at the new settlement for about an hour before returning to the underground shelter.
