"Rong Jun looks really handsome; he's grown so tall in the last few years."

"Come on, Rongjun, please accept this red envelope. It's just a small token of my appreciation."

……

Amid the shoving, Mao's father was beaming with pride at the praise. He thought to himself that this kid really made him look good, but he still had to be modest and asked Mao Rongjun to go and greet the elders while he stayed behind to deal with the neighbors.

Mao Ning tugged at Su Mian's sleeve, "Sister, let's go inside."

Su Mian nodded, and as soon as she stepped into the room, the system notification sounded.

[Ding-dong – Today's special task has been issued, please complete it carefully.]

A hint of doubt flashed in her eyes. As she was about to start her Chinese lesson (4399), Mao Ning handed her a leather-bound notebook.

"Sister, these are the Mao family rules. Page 17 is for the Mao family's new bride. You need to memorize them. After brother finishes entertaining the guests tonight, you can go to his study and memorize them."

She led Su Mian to the bedroom on the second floor. The room was very large and had white polished tiles.

The 1.8-meter-wide bed doesn't feel cramped at all, and the dressing mirror is made of fine white wood, showing that the decoration was done with care.

Furthermore, the small garden on the second floor that I could see when I was sleeping on the first floor belonged to this room.

She was quite satisfied with the room, and didn't know when Mao Ning left, leaving only a copy of the Mao family rules in her hand.

She sat on the bed and turned to page seventeen.

Upon reading this, she paused for a moment, then opened the wardrobe and found that it was indeed filled with many new clothes. She realized that she probably couldn't wear the one she was wearing anymore, otherwise she would be violating the family rules, and she didn't know what would happen.

So I picked out a beige coat and put it on, with a white floral dress underneath, and I really looked like a lady from a bygone era.

After some effort, I continued memorizing.

The Mao family's back residence and the old house at the end of the rice paddies are off-limits except on memorial days.

Article

Any foreign object should be returned to its original location and its rightful owner.

She only needed to glance at it once to memorize everything, and wandered around the house aimlessly without noticing anything unusual.

The first floor was the residence of the Mao family elders, and the third floor was the residence of Mao's parents and Mao Rongjun. She returned to her bedroom.

I got up too early to get to work this morning, and once I sat down on the bed, I didn't want to move. So I decided to take a nap first, took off my coat, and was left in only my floral dress.

The quilt is made of handmade cotton wadding, and the quilt cover is fleece. It's very comfortable. Su Mian snuggled into it, snuggled against it warmly, and settled down.

The other side wouldn't be so peaceful.

Qiao Yinuo and Tiffany walked for an unknown amount of time before finally reaching the other side of the rice paddy. The closer they got to the house, the colder and more gloomy it became.

Qiao Yinuo gripped Tiffany's arm tightly, looking around nervously. Tiffany kicked the door open, revealing exposed wooden beams and blackened rafters crisscrossing overhead.

Most of the house was shrouded in heavy shadows, making it feel damp and oppressive.

At the far end of the house is a wooden staircase leading to the second floor, and below the staircase is the door to the inner bedroom.

The two moved to the top of the stairs and looked up, but couldn't see anything. Tiffany tentatively stepped on the stairs; they were fairly sturdy, but they didn't look very stable.

"I'll go up and take a look. You wait for me here."

Tiffany turned to Qiao Yinuo and said this, then held onto the sides of the stairs and lowered her body to go upstairs.

Qiao Yinuo waited anxiously, glancing back nervously every now and then, her lips pale.

Damn it, she's most afraid of Chinese horror. That wax figure in the last dungeon scared her half to death, let alone a house of this level.

Suddenly, her ears twitched. She heard a noise at the doorway, low to the ground, seemingly coming from the door frame. But she didn't dare turn around and could only shout "Tiffany!"

Tiffany came down from the attic after hearing the noise.

"What's wrong?"

"There's a sound behind me..."

Tiffany looked around. "There's nothing there. Even the way the door opened is the same as before."

Upon hearing this, Qiao Yinuo immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"There's a bedroom upstairs too, but there's something that looks like a wedding dress in the closet, and a pair of embroidered shoes under the bed. You'll probably be scared, so I'll sleep in the attic, and you can sleep on the first floor."

When Qiao Yinuo heard those things, she got goosebumps and was so grateful that she almost cried. She would never scold Tiffany again; she was too bold.

The two were about to leave the cabin to catch their breath; it was too oppressive inside. As they stepped out of the cabin, Tiffany suddenly grabbed Qiao Yinuo.

Qiao Yinuo: "What's wrong?"

Tiffany's face turned pale as she pointed to the corner by the door.

"How did the embroidered shoes I just saw on the second floor end up here?"

Qiao Yinuo froze. "What...what did you say?"

The two turned around at the same time, only to see a series of footprints on the ground that were the opposite of their own. They were very shallow, but the pattern on the soles of the shoes seemed to be those of the embroidered shoes.

"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!"

Startled, Qiao Yinuo broke into a breakdance and dragged Tiffany into the rice paddy. The cows that were grazing on weeds were so frightened that they ran away with their tails swishing, their screams echoing through the sky.

The twins were still completing their assigned task, which required them to find the imposters hidden among Mao's relatives within a specified time, when screams came from not far away.

Sun Er: "Ah"

Sun Jiu: "Oh"

……

When Su Mian woke up, it was already dark, and the chirping of crickets filled the air. She had even missed the evening's feast.

She rubbed her head, feeling a bit lazy from sleeping. There was no way around it; the bed was too soft, and the plush comforter was much more comfortable than a regular one. She slept until eight o'clock without even realizing it.

There was a large mixed dish on the bedside table, probably a little bit of all the dishes from the banquet, like a rice bowl.

There was a note under the plate.

"Sister-in-law, I didn't wake you because you were sleeping so soundly. Remember to eat and don't forget your tasks for today."

Setting the note aside, Su Mian picked up her plate to eat and couldn't help but sigh, "How comfortable it is to live like this, where everything is done for me. It's a pity it's based on getting married and having children."
