Hogwarts: My Grandmother is the Queen
Chapter 149 Gentle Diana
Chapter 149 Gentle Diana (Fifth Update)
"Are you hungry?" Diana withdrew her hand. "Here, have something to eat first."
She took Harry's hand and turned to walk towards the restaurant.
Harry followed behind, his steps a little unsteady.
The moment he stepped into the restaurant, his eyes glazed over again.
Several plates of desserts were laid out on the table, including a strawberry tart with red strawberries piled on a golden crust and sprinkled with icing sugar, like snow falling on a small hill; there were also chocolate chip cookies, lemon cake, and a plate of apple pie.
Harry swallowed hard; he was indeed hungry. He hadn't eaten properly at the Dursleys' house for the past two days.
"Sit down, what are you standing there for?" Henry said from the side, finding a chair and sitting down himself.
Harry hesitated for a moment, then sat down opposite him.
But Harry had already pounced on the dessert plate.
His chubby little hand reached for the biggest strawberry tart, and just as he was about to succeed, Diana gently patted his hand.
"handwashing."
"I've already washed it!" Harry said, covering his hand that had been slapped, looking aggrieved.
"Wash it again."
Why?
"Because you were playing outside just now, touching the Norbert, the railing, and the grass," Diana said. "Are you sure your hands are clean after washing them?"
Harry looked down at his hands, thought for a moment, and then pouted.
"—Not clean."
"Then go wash again." Diana said seriously.
Harry left reluctantly, glancing back every few steps, his eyes still fixed on the plate of strawberry tarts, as if afraid they would run away.
Harry watched this scene and suddenly felt a little dazed.
Is this what royalty is like?
This looks no different from an ordinary family's house.
The mother asked the child to wash his hands, and the child went reluctantly. After washing his hands, the child ran back, grabbed a piece of strawberry tart, and stuffed it into his mouth.
Wait, Harry's back.
He ran incredibly fast, his hands still dripping wet, but he had already grabbed the strawberry tart.
"Delicious!" he mumbled, his mouth stuffed full, his cheeks bulging like Ron eating a chicken leg.
That's definitely very flashy.
Diana smiled helplessly and handed him a napkin.
Wipe your hands and wipe your mouth.
Harry took the paper, wiped it haphazardly a couple of times, and then grabbed a second one.
Diana turned to Harry, smiled, and said, "You eat too, don't be shy."
Harry nodded, reached out and picked up a chocolate chip cookie, taking a bite.
The cookies were still warm, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The chocolate chips melted in his mouth, sweet but not cloying, so fragrant that he almost swallowed his tongue.
He had never eaten such delicious cookies before.
Dursley's pastries? Forget about it, those are for Dudley.
Occasionally, there would be some left over, but it would be crushed into pieces, and he would have to eat it secretly, being careful not to be discovered.
But this cookie was for him. He could sit openly at the table, with no one glaring at him or scolding him.
He took another bite.
"Do you like it?" Diana asked.
Harry nodded, his mouth still full of cookies, unable to speak.
Diana smiled, a smile that was incredibly gentle.
"That's good. Eat more, you've gotten so thin."
As she spoke, she patted Harry's head and tidied his hair, showing no sign of disapproval that he hadn't groomed himself for days.
Harry looked down at the cookie in his hand and suddenly felt a lump in his throat.
He didn't know why. Maybe it was because the room was so warm, or maybe it was because the snack was so delicious. Maybe it was because the gesture of patting his head reminded him of his mother, whom he had never had.
Perhaps it was because all of this was so much like the home he had imagined.
He suppressed the sourness and continued eating.
After finishing the cookies, he took a slice of lemon cake.
The cake was very soft, and the sourness of the lemon and the sweetness of the frosting blended together, making it refreshing and sweet.
He then took a strawberry tart. The strawberries were very fresh, the tart crust was very crispy, and the cream was very smooth, sweet but not cloying.
If Ron were here, he would be overjoyed.
"Um—" Harry pointed to the plate of apple pie, "What's this?"
"Apple pie!" Harry shouted. "You have to try some!"
Harry picked up a piece and took a bite.
The outer crust is crispy, the filling is soft and chewy, and the sweetness of apple and the aroma of cinnamon blend together to create a refreshing and delicious flavor.
He closed his eyes and slowly savored the moment.
"How is it?" Diana asked, her voice tinged with anticipation.
"This is the best thing I've ever eaten in my life," Harry said, opening his eyes with a serious expression.
"Then eat more. There's still plenty left," Diana said with a smile.
Harry took another bite.
As he was eating, he suddenly realized that Henry was gone.
"Where is Henry?" he asked.
"The study," Harry said, his mouth full. "He always goes to the study, I don't know what's so fun about it."
"He must be talking to his grandma," Diana said. "His grandma gave him a lot of tasks during the summer vacation, not only to complete his Hogwarts homework, but also to complete the schoolwork of ordinary people, from middle school to high school."
"Even princes have to do homework?" Harry was incredulous. "And they have to study the same subjects as ordinary people? From middle school to high school—good heavens."
"Of course," Diana said with a smile, "but he canceled all his studies today because you're here."
"However," she continued, "I'm glad he has a friend like you."
Harry was stunned.
"friend?"
"Yes." Diana looked at him gently. "He invited you to our house. What else could he be but a friend?"
Harry opened his mouth as if to say something, but nothing came out.
friend?
That's true. Ever since he reported the troll incident to Dumbledore, indirectly saving the three of them's lives, they felt that Henry was different from ordinary Slytherins.
Not only that, Henry had also saved him in a Quidditch match, and Harry had long considered him a friend.
but----
Having gone through so much today and arrived here, Harry suddenly hesitated. He wondered if someone like Henry, whose status was so different from his own, would truly consider him a friend. It wasn't for any other reason than a slight sense of inferiority.
However, Diana's gaze and Harry's enthusiasm just now made him think that maybe—well, maybe they really are friends?
"I—" his voice was a little hoarse, "I don't know how—how to be a friend."
Diana looked at him, her eyes showing no surprise, only gentle understanding.
"Take your time learning," she said. "There's no rush."
Harry looked down at the strawberry tart in his hand.
"I've never—never had any friends," he said softly, almost inaudibly. "At school, nobody wanted to play with me. My Uncle Vernon and his family called me a freak because strange things always happened to me. Then I went to Hogwarts, and I met Ron and Hermione, but—"
