Hogwarts: My Grandmother is the Queen
Chapter 134 The Dursleys
Chapter 134 The Dursleys (Fifth Update)
"Gas?" Draco frowned. "Cooking with gas? Won't that explode?"
"Uh—occasionally, but rarely," Justin said. "But there are electric ones too."
"The Muggle world is dangerous," Hannah whispered.
"But it's also quite interesting," Susan said. "They don't have magic, yet they've managed to invent so many things."
Daphne nodded: "My father said that although Muggles don't have magic, their wisdom should not be underestimated."
Draco was silent for a moment, then asked, "That—electricity, what exactly is it?"
"I can't really explain it," Justin said. "It's something invisible that makes a lot of things move. Light bulbs light up, televisions show images, cars move—"
"Don't trains burn coal?" Pansy asked.
"It's a tram," Justin said. "There are both trolleybuses and trolleybuses, and they're quite fast."
At this point, he looked at Henry: "Your Highness, how do you think electricity should be explained?"
"It's hard to describe," Henry said with a smile, "but I prefer to call electricity the magic of ordinary people," because it allows ordinary people to do many things that only wizards can do with magic.
"That's very apt." Justin's eyes lit up. "This description is indeed very easy to understand."
Hannah suddenly remembered something: "Justin, that TV you mentioned," can it receive signals from other countries?
"Sure," Justin replied. "We have satellite TV, and we can receive dozens of TV channels from all over the world."
"Dozens of TV stations?" Pan Xi exclaimed in surprise. "Don't you guys usually spend a lot of time choosing which ones to watch?"
""
"Yes." Justin laughed. "My dad takes forever to change the channel every time, and my mom always scolds him for it."
They imagined the scene and laughed.
After Draco finished laughing, he suddenly asked, "Then how do you guys know which channel is showing what?"
Justin said, "There are TV guides. They're also in the newspapers."
"A newspaper?" Draco asked, "A newspaper like the Daily Prophet?"
“Yes,” Justin said, “but not some magical newspaper like the Daily Prophet, just an ordinary newspaper.”
Draco nodded thoughtfully, suddenly realizing that the Muggle world wasn't so boring after all.
As the train approached London, they began packing.
Justin stood up, and Cheddarco waved.
"Malfoy, let's talk again next time!"
Draco nodded.
"Um."
Justin walked to the door, then suddenly remembered something and turned back.
"By the way, if you want to watch football, come to my house anytime, and I'll have my dad put it on for you."
Draco's face flushed again, and he stubbornly protested, "I said I didn't want to see it!"
"Okay." Justin chuckled, opened the door, and went out.
Hannah and Susan said goodbye to them and went outside.
Only a few young Slytherin wizards remained in the cubicle.
Pansy looked at Draco and couldn't help but laugh.
"Hey, Draco, you're blushing."
Draco glared at her: "I didn't!"
"You have."
"I don't!"
Daphne whispered beside him, "Draco, if you really want to go, you can go. No one will laugh at you."
Draco opened his mouth, wanting to refute, but found himself unable to refute.
He snorted, turned his head away, and pretended to look at the scenery outside the window.
Henry couldn't help but laugh as he watched this.
"Draco".
Draco turned around.
"Your Highness?"
Henry said, "Curiosity is not a bad thing, and there's nothing shameful about wanting to understand the Muggle world."
Draco was stunned: "You—you don't think what I'm doing is very—"
"What's so special about it?"
Draco considered his words carefully: "Not very Malfoy-like?"
Henry laughed: "What kind of person is Malfoy?"
Draco was stumped by the question.
He thought for a long time but found he couldn't answer.
What kind of person was Malfoy?
His father taught him a lot—how to speak, how to act, and how to uphold the family's dignity. But he never thought about what kind of person Malfoy should be.
Henry looked at him and said, "Who you are is far more important than who you should be."
Draco remained silent for a long time, then he gave a serious "hmm".
"I understand, Your Highness."
The train slowly pulled into King's Cross Station, where platform 9¾ was crowded with parents picking up their children.
Sunlight streamed through the glass windows of the platform roof, making everyone feel warm and cozy.
Henry stepped out of the cubicle and into the crowd.
He wasn't carrying his suitcase; Lucy, who was nowhere to be seen, was carrying it for him.
Draco walked beside him, with Pansy and Daphne following behind.
They walked through the crowd toward the wall that separated the two worlds.
"Your Highness," Draco suddenly spoke, "may I write to you during the summer vacation?"
"Of course," Henry said.
"Then I'll write it for you, it's a deal," Draco said happily.
"I'll be waiting," Henry said with a smile.
Draco grinned.
Pansy chimed in, "I'll write one too! Your Highness, you must reply!"
"I'll write too," Daphne said.
Henry looked at them and smiled gently.
"Okay," he said. "I'll reply to everything."
It took them a long time to all get off the platform.
A withered old guard stood at the partition wall, allowing only two or three people to pass at a time, so that they wouldn't burst out of the solid wall in large numbers and attract the attention of the Muggles.
King's Cross Station was bustling with activity. Passengers with suitcases hurried by, newspaper vendors drank, and the train schedules were announced over and over again on the loudspeakers.
Henry stood on the platform, looking at these familiar sights, and suddenly remembered the things they had discussed on the train.
He saw the Gryffindor trio saying their reluctant goodbyes in the distance, and standing beside them was an ordinary yet extraordinary family.
The fat man at the head of the group had a face that was so red it was almost purple; next to the car behind him stood a middle-aged woman who was as thin as a dove, and it was hard to imagine that the big fat boy standing next to him was her son.
It was the Dursleys.
"Your Highness."
A deep voice came from behind Henry.
Henry turned around and saw Brown, the driver of the royal motorcade.
He was wearing that familiar dark uniform, standing next to a black Jaguar, bowing slightly.
"His Highness the Prince of Wales sent me to fetch you."
Henry nodded and walked over.
Brown opened the car door and bent down to get in.
The car was warm and had a faint leather scent.
"Your Highness, shall we go straight back to Kensington Palace?" Brown asked.
"Let's go back to Kensington Palace then," Henry said. "Mom and my brothers should be home."
Brown bowed slightly, sat in the driver's seat, and started the car.
The Jaguar slowly pulled out of the station and into the London traffic.
(I forgot to set the timer — I only realized it when I got up to go to the bathroom.)
