Chapter 28: The Extravagantly Luxurious Glory Manor

"Falkenhausen" - this is an ancestor of Lü Buyi, going back five generations.

This also marked the beginning of intermarriage between the Far Eastern Lü clan and the Hohenzollern clan, who shared the same sacred bloodline.

That ancestor was a playful person who had sailed with Zheng He's fleet on several voyages to the Western Ocean and experienced almost the entire Age of Exploration.

Because he married a noblewoman from the Hohenzollern family.

So he had a sudden inspiration and gave himself a German name, which is "Falkenhausen".

This ancestor was extremely indifferent to the extraordinary world and his responsibilities as the Holy Blood of the Dominion, but instead had a deep affection for the mortal world, especially for his cross-sea travels.

This later became one of the reasons he built the "Falkenhausen" financial empire.

After generations of management by the Far East Lü family, by the time of Lü Buyi's father, "Falkenhausen" had amassed nearly one-tenth of the world's wealth.

It's ironic that a holy bloodline family, which is almost extinct above the extraordinary level, actually has such an asset in the mortal world.

In the original main storyline of the BE universe, Lü Buyi did not exist.

Therefore, after his elder brother died, and with no one to succeed him, Falkenhaus was taken over by his sister-in-law—who was also the elder sister of Lü Buyi's nominal fiancée.

About twenty years later, Falkenhausen will be passed on to Lü Buyi's young niece.

It wasn't until the final volume of "The Secret Service Agents" that his niece returned her eldest son to the Far East Lü family, finally getting the item back to its rightful owner.

The main plot of the fifth installment of "The Secret Service" revolves around finding Falkenhausen's treasure, which left a particularly deep impression on Lü Buyi.

However, now that Lü Buyi is present, all of the above is essentially null and void.

After his elder brother's death, he took over everything from Falkenhausen, which became his identity in the mortal world.

This identity has helped him a lot, both in the past and now.

"Master, please forgive my intrusion—" Lu Buyi, who had been resting with his eyes closed, opened them as Gu Yu approached.

Looking at Gu Yu, who had a headache, Lü Buyi waited quietly for his explanation.

"While this question may be somewhat redundant, given that you rarely pay attention to matters of the mortal world—but Master, do you still remember the annual Sea City Trade Agreement Summit?"

Lu Buyi's answer was of course no. He was already so busy with the affairs of the Command Council that he didn't even have time to date. How could he possibly have the energy to pay attention to these superfluous things in the mortal world?

Even Falkenhausen, the world's largest financial empire, was almost entirely entrusted to his retainers to handle in their spare time.

"So, what does this have to do with my schedule?" Lu Bu asked doubtfully.

"If you are arriving in Haidu as someone from an extraordinary world, then of course it doesn't matter."

Gu Yu adjusted her glasses and continued to explain:

"But since you're here in person as the current leader of Falkenhausen, that makes a slight difference."

Lu Buyi stroked the scepter of desolate bones in his palm, his expression unchanged.

"Be more specific."

"Because you chose not to conceal your itinerary in order not to arouse suspicion, all the managers under Falkenhausen knew your destination... I explained this to you from the beginning."

"so what?"

"Unfortunately, because the annual Far East business event, the Haidu Trade Agreement Summit, had just opened, a considerable number of Falkenhausen's executives were gathered in Haidu."

At this point, Gu Yu paused and truthfully relayed the requests made by the responsible individuals during the communication.

"They wish to pick you up at the airport and pay their respects at your residence, Rongguang Manor."

"That sounds like a hassle. Could you help me refuse?"

"It's possible, but that would probably seem too inhumane."

Gu Yu continued, knowing that his family patriarch had never cared about such matters, so he explained in more detail:

"Most of the leaders of Haidu are veterans who witnessed the horrors of your purge six years ago. I think they want to pay their respects to you because they are afraid of making a mistake somewhere and angering you."

"From a long-term development perspective, you would prefer to meet with them first, as it would be easier to appease them and stabilize Falkenberg's internal structure..."

"After all, you, patriarch, don't want to waste time on another major purge, do you?"

Lü Buyi was not a tyrant who only acted arbitrarily and made his own decisions; otherwise, he wouldn't have had so many people following him.

Gu Yu's words made a lot of sense, and Lü Buyi also didn't want Falkenhausen to run into trouble.

So he closed his eyes and nodded slightly.

"Then let's meet," Lü Buyi said.

"So that they won't have any second thoughts like those people before them."

After understanding Lü Buyi's meaning, Gu Yu bowed and withdrew, then opened the communication device to convey the patriarch's message.

[Heraswalg] was fast, but the elders who received the communication were even faster.

Upon receiving the communication, they immediately put down all their work and canceled all other commitments.

Then they all converged on the artificial island belonging to Falkenhausen next to the sea city.

Hundreds of private yachts illuminated the dark sea, and in the early hours of the morning, not a single Falkenhausen executive dared to slow down for a moment.

In the end, they all gathered at the Glorious Manor, where flickering lamplight swayed in the shadows of the trees.

This is the largest manor in the Far East, covering approximately 1500 hectares and boasting a palace complex exceeding the size of twenty Forbidden Cities—

In the mundane world, leaders from all walks of life who came to participate in the "Haidu Trade Agreement Summit" and their younger generations all stood on that vast helipad.

Even though I was exhausted, and even though it was this season, the mornings in Haidu were unbearably hot and humid.

But no one dared to rest or relax.

This is not an exaggeration. One elderly man, who was so old that he needed a wheelchair to move around, preferred to have his child support him rather than sit down and wait.

Why?

Why are they so trembling with fear, so terrified of His arrival?

Because no one can forget the great purge that the contemporary "Falkenhausen" launched six years ago.

For centuries prior, even if one lost an internal competition, even if there was betrayal or leak of secrets—

The worst punishment the leaders could give was being sent to mine coal in Africa.

But this young leader was different. Heaven knows how he managed to wipe out all of their familiar old friends, their entire families, men, women, and children, leaving no one alive.

I recall the scene where all those people's skulls were cut off and piled up, and they knelt before that small hill.

All the elders present who had witnessed that scene couldn't help but tremble slightly.

—Above the sky, the whistling sound of wind breaking through the air announced the arrival of the modern-day "Falkenhausen".

The moment the [Heraswalg] landed safely and the cabin door slowly opened.

All eyes were drawn to the iconic scepter of desolation.

There was no doubt anymore; it really was that person who came in person. I dared not even consider what their purpose was in coming—

Everyone present, including those bewildered young people, had their fathers press them down to kneel on one knee.

The elderly men at the head of the group still followed the etiquette from over a hundred years ago, bowing their heads and shouting...

"We extend to you the most sincere and sublime greetings in the world—our Lord, our King, our Sovereign."

"Our supreme... Falkenhausen!"
