America: The Cremator

61. A series of deaths and a bizarre space!

Suddenly, a red light entered Su Long's field of vision. He looked up and carefully searched for the source of the light, and found that the red light was actually coming from the abdomen of the butterfly.

Upon closer inspection, a brighter diamond-shaped frame was found deep within the red light, firmly fitted onto a small area in the center of the abdomen.

It seems this is the new ability after the enhancement of spiritual vision, which can directly see through the weaknesses of strange things. If it is paired with a revolver, it may be able to exert several times the advantage.

"I never expected to experience what it's like to be a big brother in real life," Su Long chuckled knowingly. "It wouldn't make sense not to take advantage of a situation."

Having said that, he immediately lifted Sirius up and aimed at the butterfly's weak spot.

Even more coincidentally, Sirius's diamond-shaped floating crosshair is exactly the same as the diamond-shaped square that shows the weak point, as if it was born to help Suron aim.

However, just as he was about to pull the trigger, the butterfly's eerie wings fluttered gently, and the whole world, along with itself, turned into an oil painting splashed with solvent—everything blurred in an instant.

The dazzling, mesmerizing light violently swept over Su Long's body, and his consciousness was completely overwhelmed by this torrent. His vision blurred, and he lost consciousness completely.

The next instant, a strong smell of rust filled Su Long's nostrils, and he was suddenly awakened to find himself standing in a dimly lit train tunnel. The tunnel was extremely narrow, and if a train came from the opposite direction, there would probably be no room to dodge.

Su Long activated his spiritual vision to survey his surroundings, but unlike before, he couldn't see through the illusion directly; the scene under his spiritual vision was still that of a tunnel.

"So it's not an illusion, but reality... This is troublesome."

The next moment, a blinding white light appeared in the darkness, followed by the screeching sound of metal wheels rubbing against rails, and the muffled roar of some kind of heavy machinery.

The white light rapidly expanded, illuminating the entire tunnel in the blink of an eye. A huge and menacing locomotive was hurtling toward him with unstoppable force.

"Holy crap!"

Surprised by what he saw, Su Long immediately turned around and prepared to run forward along the cold railway tracks.

But he quickly calmed down and thought about it carefully. How could he possibly outrun a train?

So he gritted his teeth, turned around, and activated his spiritual vision to its maximum, carefully observing the oncoming train in an attempt to find a way out of the predicament.

Finally, everything in sight dimmed, except for the driver's head, which flashed a blinding red light—a diamond-shaped frame!

Without any hesitation, Su Long immediately raised his gun, aimed, and pulled the trigger.

Gunshots and the sound of shattering glass were successively drowned out by the roar of the train, and the driver's head exploded as expected.

In an instant, the entire world came to a standstill, and fine cracks quickly covered the entire world before it crumbled inch by inch.

The dazzling light made it impossible for Su Long to open his eyes. When the light dimmed, he found himself wrapped in an airtight bag. He tried to move, but found that his limbs were as heavy as if they were filled with lead. He tried to shout, but no sound came out of his throat.

A moment later, he felt himself being pushed by a force and squeezed into a narrow space.

Just then, he finally regained control of his body. He struggled to unzip the plastic bag and was greeted by a cold, narrow metal space.

This is a fucking crematorium!

"Shit!"

Su Long cursed under his breath and quickly activated his spiritual vision, but he couldn't find any weaknesses on the ceiling or on either side. Just as he was about to turn over to look for them, the sprinkler head above his head suddenly started spraying cold liquid, and a strong smell of gasoline instantly filled the entire space.

"Fuck!"

Su Long cursed and moved even more hurriedly, but he still couldn't see the diamond-shaped frame he wanted on the bottom plate of the crematorium. So he looked up and finally spotted the red light on the hatch of the crematorium.

Su Long quickly pulled the trigger. The next moment, space shattered again, and the light once again obscured his vision. He didn't know how much time had passed, or it seemed like only a moment had passed, when a strong smell of blood suddenly filled his nostrils.

He suddenly opened his eyes and found himself standing on a "mountain of flesh".

No, it's a mountain of corpses, a mountain made up of corpses in all sorts of ways—as far as the eye can see, the whole world is filled with endless corpses, a continent of corpses, and countless mountains of corpses on that continent!

Moreover, every corpse whose face could be clearly seen had a Sulong's face on it!

A pair of empty eyes stared at him, as if silently asking: Why are you still standing here? Why don't you join us!

Looking at this horrifying scene that resembled hell, Su Long remained silent for a moment, then suddenly burst into laughter in anger.

"You went through all that trouble just to show me this?"

He activated his spiritual vision to scan his surroundings, but did not see the red frame. So he slowly raised his hand, and a golden flame burst into flames in his palm.

"In that case, let's just burn this place down."

The next moment, the golden primordial fire, like a flood bursting its banks, swept outwards from him in all directions.

Golden flames swept across the world, and countless corpses melted away the moment they came into contact with the flames, just like snow melting in the sun, leaving not a trace of smoke behind.

In just a few seconds, the entire world was reduced to just Su Long and the scorched, blackened void beneath his feet.

Looking around at the empty space, Su Long sighed softly, "If you're so capable, send me some real corpses. Just that one attack alone should have netted me over a million experience points."

As soon as he finished speaking, the gray sky above began to spread and shatter rapidly, like an oil painting splashed with solvent.

The entire world collapsed completely, and Sulong's consciousness returned.

He was still standing in that dimly lit living room, the landlord's stiff body still leaning against the sofa not far away.

A wet, slippery sensation came from his cheek—the butterfly made up of countless human knuckles was quietly resting on his face, its two deep, swirling eyes staring right at him.

Su Long's eyes instantly turned cold. With a slight thought, the primordial fire covering his left palm surged and engulfed his entire arm along with his sleeve.

The next moment, he raised his burning arm, clenched his fists, and punched the butterfly on his face hard.

"Get out of my way!"

The burning fist slammed solidly into the butterfly's body, which was made of intertwined knuckles.

"Sizzle—"

Large amounts of white smoke rose up, accompanied by a pungent smell of burning protein.

The butterfly let out a strange, piercing shriek. Its left wing and abdomen were completely destroyed by the primordial fire. The remaining part of its body quickly turned into a pool of flowing ink, merging into the surrounding space and disappearing without a trace.

Su Long slowly lowered his arm, and the flame in his palm went out.

The mental shock from experiencing several life-or-death crises came crashing down on him like a tidal wave, causing a slight throbbing pain and dizziness in his brain.

He immediately pulled out his Raphael from his waist, took a big gulp of beer, and the familiar coolness rushed into his brain, which calmed his dizziness considerably.

Once his thoughts had cleared somewhat, Su Long re-examined the completely sealed-off room.

As the butterfly mysteriously disappeared, the spiritual threads that had been interfering with perception, like spiderwebs, also vanished, but all the doors and windows remained sealed after being "melted."

Su Long walked to the landlord's body, squatted down, and began to examine it carefully.

This time, he noticed a plastic medicine bottle without any label and several black solid pills scattered in the gap between the sofa and the wall.

The medicine bottle and pills were extremely crudely made, like products from some underground workshop.

Su Long activated his spiritual vision and saw that the dark pills, which looked like they were made of mud, were constantly emanating a black mist that was strangely similar to that of the butterfly.

He picked up the simple medicine bottle and found a line of distorted letters on the cap that were almost unrecognizable, pressed out by a poor-quality mold.

Su Long carefully examined the words for a long time before he could barely spell them out.

"dream."

He immediately thought of the new hallucinogenic drug that Elena had mentioned on the phone, which was related to strange powers.

It seems that my unlucky landlord attracted that terrifying butterfly because he took this stuff... or rather, the butterfly came out of the landlord's stomach!

Unfortunately, my phone has been destroyed, so I can't notify Elena immediately...

Wait, as if he suddenly remembered something, Su Long raised his left hand and looked at the tattoo-like black mark.

It seems I have other means of notification...

"Captain Elena, I'm sorry."
