Cataclysm: Undead Dragons and Zero Empire
Chapter 45 Judgment
"Warning! Unknown energy source detected. It is recommended to stop the current command execution!"
The fleet anchored in planetary orbit sounded alarms one after another. This civilization had never seen the power of psychic energy before. This power was so unfamiliar to them. They had only heard some legends about it from their suzerain state.
Their civilization originally set foot in the stars with lofty ambitions, boasting of its immortal achievements that surpassed those of its ancestors. Even at the beginning of the formation of their space fleet, there was a heated debate within the community about whether their race was the only intelligent life in the universe.
However, after encountering their first alien civilization, they discovered that they were merely at the bottom of interstellar society, only slightly higher than slave civilizations. Their overconfident declaration of war against other civilizations has become a laughing stock to this day.
After being humiliated on the battlefield, they offered a subjugation agreement to the more advanced civilization that ruled their star system. The agreement did not even include the obligation of the suzerain state to participate in the defensive wars fought by the vassal state; otherwise, they would not have had to struggle so hard here.
They could have quietly developed their technology by exploiting resources, but the universe seemed to have no favor to them. For some reason, a genocidal civilization appeared in this star field. The insect swarm that devoured the bee colony caused them to lose their cities and land, making their already impoverished territory even more desolate.
Fortunately, the swarm of killing bees has no diplomatic strategy. Their attacks are indiscriminate, and the surrounding civilizations have become comrades in arms, holding the line together and barely stabilizing the current stalemate.
Faced with such tenacious vitality, they had exhausted all their efforts to suppress the enemy on this planet. If they stopped the orbital bombardment, the enemy would surely return soon and sweep across the starry sky.
The fleet panicked at the unknown behemoth that had forcefully intervened in the war and hurriedly reported the anomaly to the civilization's central hub.
If they had set foot in the Star Sea at the beginning, given the arrogance of their civilization at that time, they would probably have launched an attack without hesitation, directly firing electromagnetic projectiles at that movable keel with coil cannons, or using fusion nuclear missiles to try to eliminate this obstacle in the path of civilization's development.
However, after being a vassal state for so long, their pride had long been worn down by the constant setbacks they encountered in the starry sea. They now knew very well that these unknown giant beings wandering in the starry sea always had all sorts of strange temperaments and could easily destroy their inferior civilization.
News of the undead dragons has already spread throughout this galaxy, but their civilization is not yet qualified to know, so they wisely chose to observe from the sidelines and witness the power of psionic energy firsthand.
The insect hive was dragged directly to the surface. The planet was experiencing a global earthquake far more violent than any human civilization had ever experienced. Continental plates shattered into dust, mountains turned into abysses, and numerous volcanoes erupted collectively, with lava columns shooting straight into the sky.
The Death Faction spent countless generations building the altar in an attempt to change the possibility of this prophecy. Ultimately, under Terence's leadership, they successfully delivered a cry to the dragons that had awakened from their eternal slumber, saving their home planet.
When the insect hive broke through the Earth's crust and flew into space, a deep abyss, visible to the naked eye from space, appeared on the planet's surface, like a punctured ball leaking air.
This cave leads directly to the Earth's core, where lava cascades down like a waterfall. If you were to jump into this abyss from the surface, even free fall would feel incredibly lonely and long.
Given the mass of this planet, it probably has no chance of returning to a complete sphere unless a drifting planet of similar mass collides and merges with it.
Lin Ziming held the twisted and deformed insect hive in the planet's orbit. He couldn't see any beauty in the structure. The writhing flesh and chitin formed a combination that looked somewhat like a starfish and coral, and it gave up struggling under the restraint of psionic energy.
Biological evolution should follow the principle of self-consistency, with each life inheriting countless generations of genetic changes, and even exhibiting some harmony. However, Lin Ziming felt that these predatory bee swarms were hastily completing their work, appearing quite crude.
The Queen of Insects was entrenched in the nest, and psionic energy engulfed her like an ocean. Lin Ziming watched as she made a gesture of submission, which also violated the cluster logic of the hive mind.
As the central hub of the Hive Mind, she is responsible for leading this swarm of killing bees to expand and multiply in the starry sea. She is the commander behind the battlefield and the mother of all offspring.
She was dispatched to the starry sea to regulate the development of the hive, assist the hive mind in its continuous evolution, and send batches of ferocious and howling offspring to the front lines of the battlefield.
Under the integration of will, even the most free-thinking offspring cannot resist returning to the collective, including her, one of the venerable matriarchs.
The honeycomb mind is not a purely conceptual entity, nor are its components products without will. They are interconnected, share knowledge, and possess unparalleled parallelism, which is its advantage in efficiency.
However, in essence, the swarm of killing bees can still be called a civilization, not just a simple monster. The offspring forming the swarm are like individual people forming human civilization.
There is no such thing as "a single tree forming a forest," which is the most important characteristic that Lin Zimo distinguishes between the Devouring Bee Swarm and the Zerg that sweeps across the galaxy.
He had felt the ruthless will of the Zerg, as if he were not fighting against swarms of concrete creatures, but against an abstract concept. These swarms of Zerg that blotted out the sky were merely an extension of that will; they were the true, complete, and unique beings.
To the Zerg will, the Tyrant and the Nest Mother are merely components, not its own members. It doesn't care about any Zerg, just as a human doesn't care about a single cell of their own. The entire process from birth to death is unnoticed.
Now, under the vast psionic energy, the queen insect has broken free from the hive's consciousness. It did not die on the spot, but became a free individual, awaiting Lin Ziming's judgment.
Outside of human civilization, Lin Zimo does not need new followers, even if these swarms of killing bees may have no connection with the insectoid race of the past, and may be a civilization that was independently conceived in the universe.
However, one question remains: how could the power of the Zerg tyrant forcibly control these swarms of killing bees? The only explanation he could think of for the time being was that they were originally products of the Zerg, and were now simply being controlled by a higher-level node.
Unless, there are still some unclear mysteries surrounding Lin Zimo's death back then, and there is still much for him to explore about this universe.
Upon returning to the Star Sea, Lin Ziming immediately began searching for the past. Now, he felt as if he had dispelled one layer of mist, only to have more mist envelop him.
He made his own judgment: since this swarm of killer bees had broken free from hive mentality and possessed free will, it was a new civilization, just like when a rebellion and independence occur on one side during the middle of a war.
Lin Ziming did not respond to the queen's submission. Instead, he banished the swarm of predatory bees, along with all their offspring and architectural achievements, into the sea of stars, letting them find a new home on their own and truly develop into a civilization that could join interstellar society, rather than a genocidal group that only knew how to prey.
The corrupted planet was instantly baptized by psionic energy, becoming a rocky, isolated star riddled with holes, devoid of any flesh or blood, as clean as a dead, lifeless planet.
However, for the fleets involved in the war, they had successfully reclaimed the territory of their own civilization, no longer needing to wage arduous and hopeless battles, and the planet could continue to be colonized after restoration work.
Both sides in the conflict were forcefully intervened upon, and a strange process led to peace, with no communication between the three parties.
This is another outcome besides civilizations ruthlessly killing each other. It's neither particularly good nor particularly bad. Everything has settled down, with no more killing or revenge.
Lin Ziming has obtained the information he wanted. Now he needs to go to the origin of this swarm of killing bees to investigate. This is the only clue at present, to search for traces of that insectoid race... and traces of the civilization for which he once sacrificed himself.
He obtained the core coordinates of the Hive Mind from the Queen, even though the civilization he was at war with was unaware of them.
The dragon appeared suddenly and disappeared just as suddenly.
Civilization trembles, daring not to speak; the planet returns to nature, and the future will be full of life again.
