Cataclysm: Undead Dragons and Zero Empire
Chapter 3 Death
Lin Ziming's injuries were beyond saving.
While the Celestial Dragons are physically powerful and resilient, their bodies, still underage, are far too fragile in the face of the Zerg Tyrant.
The dragon scales and muscles were still repairing themselves at a rapid pace, struggling to save its life. The process was so fast that it was almost invisible. However, the organs inside its body were even more difficult to heal themselves. They had been corroded by the biological missiles fired by the Zerg Tyrant, and decay was inevitable.
The severely wounded Tianlong parents and their brethren did not choose to save Lin Zimo. They needed to seize the fleeting opportunity and, after completely destroying the Zerg Tyrant's body, quickly turn around and attack the Zerg Queen together, trying their best not to let Lin Zimo's fall be in vain.
The Celestial Dragons value reproduction highly, and their attitude towards time and mission is even more noble. This great mission has been chosen by the Celestial Dragons for this empire, so life is not worth cherishing.
The scales of victory have tipped, the Zerg's defeat is a foregone conclusion, most of the Dragons will survive, and the only loss seems acceptable.
The Zerg remnants are being cleared out by the destroyer fleet, the corrupted planets will be purified by the Titans' planet-destroying weapons, and the lost dragon carcasses can be used for research. It seems like a perfect victory.
Until Lin Ziming's life finally came to an end.
The instant Lin Ziming's consciousness entered eternal slumber, intangible, black and red flames ignited from his bones, like an inconspicuous black sun in the starry sky, waiting to burn everything.
Centered on Lin Ziming's corpse, like poplar catkins piled up on a lawn being ignited, the pace of everything withering suddenly accelerated, like a grand funeral, lighting fireworks, letting the cold and dark universe remember this moment of brilliance.
Space is dying, higher dimensions are falling into lower dimensions, shrinking into the microscopic realm, and a vast dividing line, like a waterfall, sweeps across the starry sky at a desperate and constant speed.
All ships urgently initiated the warp drive procedure, and the young dragons also spread their wings and left this land of death. Only the dragon parents left last, gazing at their departed children.
The center of the star system shone brightly, as the energy of this celestial body was rapidly released. The sun, which should have been in its prime, was rapidly dying. Its spectrum changed drastically, and it destroyed itself along with the planets in the star system, until it became a desolate graveyard, waiting to be discovered by future generations.
The warp also could not escape its fate of death, like a punctured ball, constantly pouring out filthy psionic energy into the real universe. The rainbow-colored rift and the waterfall of dimensional collapse complemented each other, forming a picture of despair.
The death of time seemed even more unremarkable. The warships that were slow to initiate warp would become Lin Tianmo's casualties along with the Zerg who had just been engaged in a deadly battle, because they could no longer cross the line drawn by death.
Lin Ziming's remains were burning, and the dragon scales, flesh, and organs were disappearing. In the end, only a skeleton was preserved, just like a specimen displayed in a museum.
The torn remains of the Zerg Tyrant hung on Lin Ziming, burned and melted by the black and red flames, gradually merging with the skeleton.
Just moments before they were locked in a fierce battle, they were now buried in the same place. This star system was their shared coffin, much like the ancient wars where all the corpses were mixed together in a campfire and burned and buried together.
The subspace continues to bleed, like a body suffering from hemophilia. The veil between it and the present universe is scorched by death, becoming incredibly fragile, like an overturned palette where the once rainbow-like colors are transitioning towards black and constantly eroding inward.
The anomaly here seemed to have attracted the attention of the warp, as large amounts of black mud overflowed from the warp, and every elementary particle was screaming wildly, trying to satisfy its hungry appetite.
This consciousness was so purely eager to devour everything that it actively touched the flames on Lin Ziming's body, like a finger touching a candle flame, instantly retracting in terror.
However, death has already tainted it, and decay is the inevitable end for it. Even immortal beings will be treated the same in the face of death.
After an unknown amount of time, the flames finally went out. After all, the vast universe could not provide enough firewood in the limited space, and Lin Ziming's body was swept into subspace by the tide of black mud.
There is no longer any concept of direction, and time is also chaotic. This aimless drifting is like every life trapped in the subspace, where everything is unknowable. Lin Zimo may even drift back to before his own birth.
Death is a journey to eternal sleep, and Lin Zimo embarked on this narrow path, going further and further away.
As time flows by, this unknown journey has finally come to an end. The probability is like a butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the continent, stirring up a typhoon on the other. This typhoon sweeps up a pile of scrap metal, which then falls to the ground and is pieced together to form a working machine. Perhaps only the eternally sleeping dead have the chance to try their luck.
Lin Zimo emerged from the subspace and continued his journey in the ever-changing starry sky. The skeleton of the young celestial dragon traversed unimaginable distances, allowing him to pass through star systems in such a vast universe and even witness the destruction and rebirth of the sun.
Most of the time, he is enveloped by cosmic background radiation. Occasionally, he passes through pulses generated by supernova explosions. He has also been bathed in the radiation of neutron stars and white dwarfs. Once, a black hole captured him, but he successfully escaped without falling into the event horizon.
During this journey, Lin Zimo's skeleton, the black mud soaked in the warp, and the remains of the Zerg tyrant melted into his body became like steel being repeatedly forged by a hammer, increasingly indistinguishable and fused into one, smoldering like a blackish-red ember.
Time became the most worthless frame of reference. Lin Ziming encountered good luck again. He entered a magnificent nebula where a new star had just been born, a new member of the cosmic family.
A star's adolescence is quite short in terms of lifespan, and Lin Zimo just happened to break in at this time, with the matter inside the nebula colliding with Lin Zimo's body.
Gravity played a crucial role; Lin Zimo's mass was so prominent in this nascent Heng star system that it was like the first core when it froze, attracting matter to him and piling up on his remains.
This process is also very long, starting with small amounts of matter, like watching coins roll into a pocket, dust slowly turning into rock, and rock forming strata.
The high temperature at which the star was born gradually cooled, and the matter exposed to solar radiation no longer remained molten. With Lin Ziming's remains as the center of mass, a planet took its proper orbit and began to revolve around the young sun.
After many more years, the newborn planet had plenty of water, and its surface was like a boiling pot of soup, with falling comets bringing it more and more water vapor.
Numerous volcanoes cover the planet's surface, like a teenager in puberty. Sulfur-laden smoke erupts from fissures, and magma constantly spews from the strata. The solidified volcanic rocks float on the magma ocean, constantly breaking and reforming until they cool into isolated islands.
This marked the beginning of the continents' formation. However, during this process, a slightly smaller planet was captured by the Sun's gravity and crashed into the still-cooling native planet.
This was a collision that caused both sides to collapse. A large amount of matter exceeded the critical velocity, the two planets merged, and Lin Ziming's remains were shaken, burying him even deeper.
Rocks with suitable speeds did not become new comets, but instead formed a series of rings in the orbit of a new planet's satellite. This was another test of patience in the gravitational game, with the rocks attracting and colliding with each other, eventually coalescing into a moon. Tidal locking accelerated the planet's stabilization.
In this epic of creation, life quietly sprouted, the most basic organic matter appeared, and then, after countless hours of trying to catch the luck that Lin Ziming once had, self-replicating organisms also appeared, and life began its long run.
This miracle of life was undoubtedly a magnificent flower that bloomed on Lin Zimo's skeleton, a symbol of death and the end.
Lin Ziming's remains were immersed in the iron-nickel circulation of the Earth's core. As the forests were renewed and the trees were buried layer by layer into the Earth's crust and turned into coal mines, his remains experienced their first tremor after death.
