Chapter 56 Riding an Elephant

……

It's very hot in Southeast Asia!

This is an old street in Chiang Mai.

On the old street, there were seven or eight special agents scattered around. Some were taking selfies, some were squatting on the street stalls picking out bracelets, and some were leaning against the songthaew (shared taxi) drinking soda. They all looked like they were just strolling around, but in fact they were observing the surrounding situation.

Peng Su, as the guide, walked ahead and led the way.

"Master, the west gate of Wat Phra Singh is just ahead."

Chen Ye and Pili pretended to be tourists and walked together.

At the corner of the ancient street, two elephants strolled by slowly, adorned with gaudy decorations, their trunks curled with a string of flowers, and their large ears flapping.

The elephant herder, dressed in flamboyant attire and carrying a POS machine, spoke in broken Chinese: "Friends from the East, would you like to buy a bouquet of lucky flowers?"

The little elephant seemed to understand human nature, and it stretched the flower curled on its trunk in front of the Eastern girl wearing a floral dress.

Pili, wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat, sunglasses, and a stylish floral dress, looked like a wealthy young lady on a sightseeing trip. She linked arms with Chen Ye and said in a high-pitched voice:

"Brother, I want to ride an elephant."

The elephant driver was a dark-skinned middle-aged man. Seeing a customer come in, he smiled broadly and said, "Sure, sure! The two of you can ride together for 300 baht, and we'll go around Wat Phra Singh once."

Peng Su quickly stepped forward and spoke with the elephant driver in a low voice for a while, after which the latter left cursing.

Chen Ye tilted his head and said in a low voice, "I am now a Buddhist monk. Can't you be a little more reserved? Can't you see that Peng Su is starting to doubt his faith?"

Pili: "It would be a real shame to come to Thailand and not ride an elephant."

Chen Ye thought for a moment, "What's so special about elephants? Go back and ride one, be good."

Pili lowered her head, her sunglasses drooping down, her beautiful eyes trembled, and for some reason, some strange thoughts appeared in her mind.

She tilted her head and looked up from Chen Ye's calves, paused for a moment, and finally her gaze settled on Chen Ye's face.

Chen Ye raised an eyebrow: "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Pili: "It's nothing." Maybe I'm just imagining things.

Chen Ye twitched the corner of his mouth. "How inexplicable."

Through this period of time spent together, Pili belatedly realized that, as a female agent, her keen intuition told her that her previous judgment of Chen Ye was wrong!

He may seem harmless, but he's actually quite secretly horny.

This kind of man is very popular with girls; he has a kind of mischievous mystery. It's just unknown whether he's a jerk.

Not far away, a group of tall women, all dressed very sexily, came and paraded through the streets on a large flatbed truck. They swayed their bodies and greeted the tourists on the roadside.

Chen Ye asked, "Those are transvestites, right?"

"That's probably true. Ladyboys are a unique feature of this country."

Several ladyboys blew kisses in their direction, saying, "Sawasdee ka~"

"Want to play?" "Ah baba baba baba!"

There are even people who can speak Chinese?!

Chen Ye quickly quickened his pace.

"Hurry up, this country is too crazy."

Most transgender people are children from poor families.

When he was young, he could stand at the store entrance to attract customers, make movies, and earn money by taking photos with people. However, hormones ruined his body, and his lifespan was much shorter than that of ordinary people.

Transgender people are very pitiful when they get old and lose their value; most of them will convert to Buddhism.

The three walked through the bustling streets and alleys of the ancient city.

Upon arriving at the temple entrance, Chen Ye looked up.

The gilded spire of Wat Phra Singh reflects the sunlight, making it somewhat dazzling.

Unlike temples in China, the temples here are mostly built in gold.

There are two statues at the entrance that resemble dragons and snakes, with scales that look like glass coated with colored glaze, making them shiny and bright.

Pongsu bowed and said, "Your Majesty, we have arrived. This is Wat Phra Singh, built by King Mengrai in 1345. It was originally dedicated to his father and is now the largest temple in Northern Thailand."

As he spoke, he pointed to the shoe rack next to him, "You have to take off your shoes before entering the temple, and you can't step on the threshold."

Pili took off her hat and used it as a fan, pushed her sunglasses up to her head, revealing a pair of beautiful eyes, and looked around.

She noticed the worshippers at the entrance were holding flowers, incense, candles, and marigold wreaths, and asked curiously, "What are they doing?"

"It's for offering to Buddha," Pongsu explained. "Thais people have three things to do when worshiping Buddha: offer incense to Buddha, light candles to illuminate the path, and offer flowers to Buddha. Look over there, someone is walking around the Shwedagon Pagoda. You have to go around it three times clockwise for your wishes to come true."

The temple was bustling with the smoke of incense.

The roof of the main hall, Langkawi, is a Lanna-style pointed roof, layered upon layered, with copper bells hanging from the eaves that jingle in the wind.

Inside the temple, believers were meditating, and monks were wrapping threads around their wrists while chanting incantations.

"What's this line for?"

Pongsu said, "It's a blessed thread, 500 baht each. You should get a 20% discount if you buy a package deal. Wearing it on your wrist will keep you safe."

Inside the hall, three large golden Buddha statues sit in the center. Believers kneel or sit, with their hands clasped together and raised to their foreheads. Men kneel with their legs apart, while women kneel sideways with their legs together. After bowing three times, they stand up, and the believers behind them follow.

An elderly monk flicked a few drops of water onto the heads of believers.

Chen Ye asked, "Where is the jade flower?"

"He's in the back, Master. Come with me."

On the plane, Peng Su regarded Chen Ye as the reincarnation of an Eastern Arhat. Although they belonged to the same sect, their cultures were different, and he was happy to introduce the Buddhist rituals of his country to Mr. Arhat.

Passing through the main hall, a completely different world unfolds behind it.

The path was lined with frangipani trees, making it much quieter than the front hall.

"Buddha, follow me, and don't step on those white cloths used for sacrifices." Peng Su led the way.

After walking about a hundred steps, a Buddhist temple came into view.

The hall door was wide open, and Chen Ye immediately saw the jade lotus flower enshrined in the center of the Buddhist shrine. Incense was burning beside it, and wisps of smoke rose from it.

Chen Ye wanted to leap up and snatch it away, but he held back.

Peng Su said, "I'll talk to my master; it shouldn't be a big problem."

He entered the Buddhist hall, bowed to an old monk sitting cross-legged, and began to mutter incoherently.

The old monk was about sixty or seventy years old, wearing an orange-red robe. His face was etched with deep wrinkles, and his eyes were half-open and half-closed. After listening to what Pongsu said, he shook his head and mumbled some Thai.

Peng Su raised her voice a bit and said a long string of words, pointing to a man and a woman outside, her face full of urgency.

As the two talked, their voices grew louder and faster, as if they were arguing.

Pili stood next to Chen Ye and said in a low voice, "It seems unlikely that peace will be achieved."

Chen Ye didn't speak, he just stared at the two jade lotus flowers.

At this moment, Peng Su was so angry that his face turned red. He bowed deeply to the old monk, turned around and walked over quickly, his face full of apology: "Buddha... Master doesn't agree."

Chen Ye: "Just as I expected."

"My master said that this jade lotus is sacred and inviolable, and must not be taken away by outsiders." Peng Su sighed, and then said, "I told him that you are the reincarnation of the Arhat Subduing the Dragon of the East."

"He doesn't believe me?"

"He told me to call the police and even called me an idiot."

Chen Ye frowned slightly: "Pili, you guys go first."

"What are you going to do?"

"Going around in circles is too troublesome. I'll use the Great Shift of Heaven and Earth, and no one can stop me."

Pili whispered, "After you rob it, go to the embassy and insist that it's a cultural relic of our country. Teacher Qin has already made arrangements. As long as you don't kill anyone indiscriminately, someone will back us up."

"Hmm, what are you saying? It makes it sound like I enjoy killing people."

Chen Ye tilted his head and asked, "Peng Su, you now have two paths: one, go back with Pili, and after I become a Buddha, I will guide you to the Western Paradise!"

"Second, continue to stay in your country and practice with those fraudulent monks here."

Without hesitation, Peng Su said, "I am willing to follow you and be your devoted follower."

Chen Ye became unusually serious: "Whether I am a disciple or not is irrelevant. Thank you for your guidance along the way. I am a man of my word! If there is an opportunity in the future, I will introduce you to the abbot of Wuxiang Temple, Pili. Take him with you."

Thunderbolt nodded: "Be careful."

This is the style of a secret agent—no melodramatic, sentimental scenes like in soap operas! The woman won't leave, she'll just drag the main character down and cause a bunch of trouble.

Chen Ye watched the two leave, put on a Bluetooth headset, and whispered, "Activate Plan B."

"Superman, a colleague is stationed at the temple gate and can meet you anytime."

"Don't reveal your identities, I alone am enough."

Chen Ye went to the restroom and took out a set of black clothes from his backpack.

When he reappeared, he had transformed into the Black Spider-Man.

Because the dog ears on the wig were too awkward, Chen Jianbin changed to a new wig. This time, he bought an official Marvel licensed one!

As Chen Ye traveled, many monks and believers discussed the matter.

Several monks followed, their eyes wary, and they communicated in Thai.

"Should we call the police?"

"Could it be a prank by tourists?"

"This damned American culture is blaspheming the Buddha's holiness here!"

Chen Ye ignored them and swaggered to the entrance of the Buddhist hall.

Just as the monks were about to step forward to stop him, his aura suddenly surged, and he leaped into the air.

Before the monks could react, Chen Ye had already rushed to the Buddha shrine like an arrow and taken away two jade lotus flowers.

When the monks chased him to the center of the Buddhist hall, they only saw the "Spider-Man" blur in the air, stepping on the edge of the offering table and soaring through the air! He flew directly over everyone's heads.

The old monk turned pale with fright, pointed outside the courtyard, and started shouting incoherently.

After leaving the Buddhist hall, Chen Ye landed on a nearby rooftop.

It raced along the rooftops, rising and falling, then flew onto the street and headed towards the embassy. Tourists along the way exclaimed in surprise at the sight.

The tuk-tuk driver swerved to avoid him, and the parasols of the street vendors rattled loudly in the wind as he passed.

Chen Ye's black figure drew an arc in the air, glided forward, touched the roof of the tuk-tuk with one foot, used the momentum to rise again, and disappeared around the corner of the ancient street.

A crackling sound came from the Bluetooth headset. Following the prompts, Chen Ye arrived at a deserted back alley, quickly took off the Spider-Man suit, and tossed it aside.

The special agents, who had been waiting for a long time and were pretending to be tourists, took the bag, put it in their backpacks, and gave an OK sign.

Chen Ye whistled as he walked out of the alley and headed toward the embassy.

They encountered that transvestite parade vehicle again, with the transvestites whimpering and continuing to blow kisses to Chen Ye.

Chen Ye shivered.

Pili appeared with a grin, grabbed Chen Ye's arm, and said loudly, "You little rascal, where have you been?"

It was as if nothing had happened.

Chen Ye's eye twitched: "Let's go."

"Where to?"

"Go home and ride an elephant."

Pili pouted: "How can you ride it indoors?"

Chen Ye was in a great mood and joked, "You can't ride an elephant at home? What law says that? I'm making you ride one, who dares to object?"

Pili's cheeks flushed red, and she said angrily, "I knew you were just playing me at first... I thought you were so innocent! You scumbag!"

Chen Ye looked completely innocent: "Hey, I have no idea what you're talking about."

Thunderbolt's eyebrows shot up: "You!!"
