Chapter 284 What is the Gap?
The first day of leveling up was a mind-blowing experience for everyone.
Li Wu's leveling method was completely different from what they had imagined.
He wasn't the type to charge in and mindlessly kill everything. Before each battle, he would first observe the terrain, monster distribution, and patrol routes, then gather the monsters together in the most efficient way and wipe them out in one go.
During battle, he will choose different skill combinations based on the number and level of the monsters.
For numerous, low-level monsters, use Explosive Burning Arrows or Chain Lightning Arrows in combination with Multishot Field to wipe them out in an area.
For elite monsters that are few in number but high in level, use Fusion Piercing Arrow for precise kills.
If you encounter an enemy with a lot of health, first use an Ice and Fire Spiral Arrow to slow it down and apply vulnerability, then use Chain Lightning Arrow to chain it.
When you encounter a situation where you need to control the field, use a Swamp Arrow to turn the ground into a swamp, restricting the movement of monsters, and then calmly pick them off one by one.
The whole process was so smooth that it felt like a performance, not a battle.
How efficient is this playing style?
By the end of the first day, Steel Shield had increased from level 30 to level 3.
Two levels.
Two levels in one day.
Keep in mind that starting from level 30, it's considered fast for the average player to gain one level per day.
But under Li Wu's leadership, their leveling speed was elevated to an incredible level.
the reason is simple--
Li Wu's monster-clearing speed is too fast.
Other teams take five to ten minutes to kill a group of monsters, but he finishes it in fifteen seconds. Other teams can only kill a maximum of three hundred monsters a day, but he can clear three hundred in an hour.
More importantly, the monster-hunting route he chose was carefully calculated.
The time interval between each transition is exactly equal to the monster respawn time of the previous spawn point. In other words, when they circle back, the monsters at the first spawn point have just respawned.
Seamless integration.
Zero waiting time.
"How did he know the refresh time?" Zhui Feng asked Hua Zitong during a break.
Hua Zitong glanced at Li Wu, who was checking the bowstring, and her lips twitched slightly.
"He remembered it."
"Remembered? What does that mean?"
"After he completed the round, he memorized the respawn interval of each monster spawn point. Then, based on the distance and movement speed, he calculated the optimal route."
Chasing the Wind: "...Is his brain a computer?"
Hua Zitong did not answer.
She knew, of course, that Li Wu hadn't calculated it by brains. He had the map she'd given him. But the map only marked the locations of monster spawn points, not their respawn times. Those respawn intervals were indeed something Li Wu had observed and memorized himself.
That's what makes this person so terrifying.
He's not just good at dealing damage.
His combat intelligence, observation skills, and execution ability are all top-notch.
the next day.
As the team ventured deeper into the desert, the monsters' levels increased. They gradually rose from level 33 to level 35, and occasionally even encountered level 36 elites.
For team members who are only level 31 or 32, fighting these monsters that are level 35 and above is extremely difficult. The damage reduction and lower hit rate caused by the level difference make every attack feel like a tickle.
But Li Wu's approach solved the problem.
He brought the monster to near-death—down to less than 5% health—and then called for his teammates to finish it off.
The experience gained from landing the final blow is far greater than that from a pure assist.
"Come here! That sand scorpion has only 3% left, you, Bull, finish it off!"
"Roger!" The bull rushed forward excitedly and slammed the hammer down.
Ding!
System notification sound.
The bull's experience bar surged.
"Awesome!" the bull laughed.
But he soon discovered a problem.
"Wait... Guild Master, how do you manage to keep every monster at near-death? If you kill too many or too few, they'll either die or you won't be able to hit them at all, right?"
"What do you think?" Li Wu asked in return.
The bull scratched its head, unable to answer.
Mohen, standing beside him, answered for him: "Because the damage of each of his arrows is calculated by him. He knows exactly how much health he can deal with one arrow, and how much health the monster has left, so he can control it precisely."
"This...this is too insane!" The bull's eyes widened.
Precisely controlling damage sounds simple, but how difficult is it to do?
The battle features critical hits, resistance fluctuations, weakness detection, and elemental advantages—the damage of each arrow is not fixed.
To precisely control output within this randomness requires a near-perfect understanding of one's own attribute panel, skill coefficients, and the target's health.
The bull felt like his brain was about to explode.
But what he didn't know was that Li Wu was indeed making precise calculations.
He had already memorized the maximum health of every monster on the first day. Different levels and different types of monsters had different health values.
He has a precise data table in his mind, and he knows the outcome before each arrow is even fired.
This is not talent.
This was an instinct he had developed after repeatedly defeating the undead army dozens of times in the Arcane Archer's Tower.
After you've dealt with thousands upon thousands of monsters, this data will become as natural as breathing.
The second day ended.
The five members of the Steel Shield group have reached an average level of 33. The five members of the Immovable Mountain group have also reached an average level of around 32.5. Hua Zitong, due to her lower level, has already caught up to level 32.
Li Wu himself had quietly leveled up to level 35.
On the ranking leaderboard, the gap between him and the second-place player has widened even further.
However, hardly anyone pays attention to the rankings anymore.
Because everyone is focused on something else—
Mythic Guild's speedrun record of Scarlet Monastery.
Nineteen minutes and thirty-eight seconds.
This record was so terrifying that the Ironblood Alliance spent two whole days and tried five different lineups, but still couldn't break it.
Their best time is 23 minutes and 11 seconds.
They were almost four minutes slower than the Myth Guild.
The atmosphere within the Iron Blood Alliance has reached rock bottom.
But none of these things mattered to Li Wu, who was frantically grinding monsters in the Tanaris desert.
His attention was entirely focused on the matter at hand.
Early morning of the third day.
Hua Zitong walked over.
"How's their teamwork going?" Li Wu asked without looking up.
"Not bad." Hua Zitong sat down next to him. "The Steel Shield team worked out relatively quickly, after all, Steel Shield, Seven Strings Glazed Glass, and Ink Trace are all old partners. Although Chasing Wind doesn't talk much, he has strong execution skills and has integrated well. Anchor is a little behind, but he is also improving."
"What about the group that's as immovable as a mountain?"
"The command that remains unmoved is fine; it's very stable."
"It's the third day." Li Wu looked at the distant desert. "At this rate, everyone will reach level 35 in two days at most."
"And then you attack Zul'Farrak?"
"right."
"I've already prepared the strategy," Hua Zitong said. "Zul'Farrak's mechanics are much more complex than Scarlet Monastery's, with many aspects requiring teamwork. Especially the last boss—"
She paused for a second.
"Have you all rested enough?"
Li Wu's voice suddenly grew louder, reaching the ears of eight people who were resting not far away.
"Enough! Enough!"
"Here it comes!"
The eight people didn't even have time to finish their water before they stood up and ran over.
"Continue." Li Wu stood up and took down the bow.
"Today's goal—"
"Everyone must advance at least one and a half levels. If you can't, don't even think about sleeping tonight."
Everyone's expression changed.
Then they all gripped their weapons tightly.
