Qiu Yingying is reborn and bound to a learning system.
Chapter 107 Getting Ready to Go Out and Play!
The car came to a steady stop at the entrance of the Joyful Song residential complex. Meng Yanchen opened the car door, his movements slow yet composed.
The wound on his back had mostly healed. Meng Yanchen's gaze fell on Qiu Yingying as he waited for her to get out of the car.
"Let's go." Qiu Yingying pushed open the door, picked up her small bag, turned to look at him, her eyes filled with natural concern, "Take your time, no need to rush."
Meng Yanchen nodded, and the two walked into the residential area side by side. He deliberately slowed his pace, making each step shorter than usual, matching Qiu Yingying's pace and keeping in sync with her rhythm. He boldly took her hand.
Stepping into the elevator on the 22nd floor, Qiu Yingying pressed the button for the 22nd floor, then turned to look at him: "Is your back alright? I'll clean it up later, you can just sit here and talk to me."
"I'm not that delicate." Meng Yanchen squeezed her hand, a faint smile on his lips. "Washing tables and folding clothes is no problem. It's good to stretch your muscles. Lying down all the time is boring."
Pushing open the door to 2204, a faint smell of dust wafted out. Sunlight streamed in through the French windows of the balcony, casting dappled shadows on the floor. A thin blanket she hadn't had time to fold up before leaving was draped over the sofa, and a half-finished book lay on the desk. Everything remained exactly as she had left it, only covered with a thin layer of dust.
"I'll go get the cleaning tools." Qiu Yingying let go of his hand and quickly walked towards the balcony cabinet. Meng Yanchen didn't stop. He walked to the desk, picked up the dry cloth next to him, and gently wiped the tabletop. His movements were very light, carefully avoiding the sticky notes and books on the table, brushing away the dust little by little, and even putting the water glass back in its usual corner.
When Qiu Yingying came out carrying a vacuum cleaner and disinfectant, she saw him bending over to tidy up the thin blanket on the sofa, his back ramrod straight, clearly consciously controlling the range of motion. "Hey, I'll fold that," she said quickly, walking over and taking the blanket from his hands. "You go wipe the bookshelf; you don't have to bend over, it's perfect for you."
Meng Yanchen didn't argue, obediently picked up another rag, and walked to the bookshelf. The bookshelf was filled with her favorite books, as well as a few small ornaments. He gently wiped the books while paying attention to their order, afraid of messing them up.
Qiu Yingying was vacuuming the floor from the living room to the bedroom. The hum of the vacuum cleaner was mixed with the occasional whispers between the two of them.
"I was reading here last time, and I fell asleep while reading. The book fell and hit me on the forehead, giving me a bump," Qiu Yingying said with a smile, pointing to the carpet next to the desk.
Meng Yanchen turned to look at her, a smile playing in his eyes: "I remember, you were the one who messaged me later to complain that you were in pain all morning."
Qiu Yingying blushed slightly and scolded him, but her hands didn't stop moving. "You were just too engrossed in reading."
After cleaning the floor, Qiu Yingying started wiping the furniture; the two worked together seamlessly.
It was already evening by the time the room was completely cleaned.
The floor was gleaming, the bookshelves were neatly arranged, and the blanket on the sofa was folded squarely. The air was filled with a faint smell of disinfectant, but it couldn't hide the refreshing feeling of being brand new.
"Finally clean." Qiu Yingying slumped onto the sofa, letting out a long sigh of relief, fine beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. Meng Yanchen walked over, took a tissue from the table, and bent down to wipe her clean.
"Are you hungry?" He straightened up, his tone casual. "Let's go out to eat."
"Yeah! Let's go eat at that casserole restaurant." Qiu Yingying's eyes lit up, and she instantly perked up. "I haven't had it in ages. I used to always get a takeout when I worked late. Their tomato and beef brisket casserole is super delicious."
The two walked downstairs hand in hand, a gentle evening breeze carrying the lingering warmth of late summer.
Elderly people were taking a walk and children were playing in the neighborhood, and the streetlights slowly came on.
The casserole restaurant wasn't big, but it was clean and tidy. The two found a seat by the window, and the waiter handed them the menu. Qiu Yingying skillfully ordered a tomato and beef brisket casserole, and then ordered braised pork with green beans. She looked up and asked him, "What would you like to eat? Something light, please."
"I'd like a tofu casserole," Meng Yanchen said, handing the menu back to the waitress. His gaze fell on her face. "Just order what you like; whatever you like will definitely be delicious."
The casserole was quickly served, steaming hot. Qiu Yingying picked up a spoon, scooped up a spoonful of soup, and brought it to his lips: "Try it, is it still the same as before?"
Meng Yanchen opened his mouth and drank it, the warmth sliding down his throat. He nodded, "Hmm, not bad." He also picked up a spoon and scooped a piece of beef brisket for her. "Eat slowly, be careful it's hot."
The two chatted as they ate, and the conversation naturally turned to their vacation. "We still have ten days of vacation left," Qiu Yingying said, her eyes sparkling as she chewed on her beef brisket. "Staying in Shanghai all the time is boring. How about we find somewhere to go on a trip?"
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Meng Yanchen put down his spoon, looked at her, and said, "I've already spoken to the company. We'll go back together after you finish this ten-day vacation. Let my dad continue working; he's rested long enough."
"Really?" Qiu Yingying's eyes lit up even more. "Where are we going? We thought about the beach, but it seems a bit chilly there this time of year."
"Where do you want to go?" Meng Yanchen listened patiently. "I haven't gone out to play in many years. Let's find a fun place to stay."
"Let me think about it." Qiu Yingying rested her chin on her hand, pondering seriously. "How about going to Yunnan? Andy and the others went there last time. I've always wanted to go to Dali and Lijiang, to see Erhai Lake, and stroll around the ancient city. It seems like the pace is slow and it's a good place to relax."
"Yunnan is great." Meng Yanchen nodded, his eyes full of approval. "The climate is pleasant, the scenery is beautiful, and the itinerary can be arranged more leisurely, without having to rush." He had actually already looked up several places suitable for recuperation, and Yunnan was among them, but he wanted her to make the decision.
"Then let's go to Yunnan!" Qiu Yingying clapped her hands, her tone excited. "We can go to Dali first, stay in a guesthouse by Erhai Lake, watch the sunrise in the morning, take a walk along Erhai Lake in the afternoon, and eat local snacks in the evening."
"Okay." Meng Yanchen smiled and agreed, reaching out to wipe the soup from the corner of her mouth. "I'll have my assistant book plane tickets and guesthouses tonight, trying to choose places that are close to tourist attractions but also quiet."
"Okay!" Qiu Yingying's eyes sparkled; it had been so long since she'd gone out to play. "Where we go isn't important; what's important is that you're with me."
Meng Yanchen's heart skipped a beat. He felt like her sweet talk skills were maxed out. He took her hand on the table and gently stroked the back of her hand with his fingertips: "Well, it's mainly because you're here with me."
After finishing their hot pot meal, the two walked back hand in hand. A gentle evening breeze dispelled the daytime heat. "I'm really looking forward to it," Qiu Yingying whispered beside him. "Just thinking about going out to play soon makes me so happy." Meng Yanchen was also very happy.
A barely perceptible smile flashed in Meng Yanchen's eyes as he subtly changed the subject: "I bought a house in Ode to Joy. I'll take you to see it after the renovations are finished, so I can be closer to you." Just as he was preparing to confess his feelings, he bought three apartments on the 21st floor and combined them into a large single-level apartment, which was currently under renovation.
【Ugh, those evil rich people! I need one of these!】
The elevator doors opened, and Qiu Yingying didn't ask any more questions. She smiled and pulled him out of the elevator: "Okay, let's see how your new home is then."
Back in room 2204, Qiu Yingying began packing for her trip. Meng Yanchen sat on the sofa, watching her busy figure while sending a message to his assistant, instructing him to book flights to Yunnan and guesthouses by Erhai Lake, specifically emphasizing that he should choose rooms with balconies and views of Erhai Lake.
"Done!" Qiu Yingying placed the packed suitcase in the corner.
"Okay, the flight is booked for 10 a.m. tomorrow." Meng Yanchen turned and left, his voice gentle. "Get some rest. I'll pick you up tomorrow. We have to get up early tomorrow."
"Okay," Qiu Yingying replied.
