Quick Transmigration: Don't Let an Honest Man Become a Villainous Supporting Female Character
Chapter 30 The Female Supporting Character in a Historical Fiction
As darkness fell, Ji Chaoxi was still catching fish in the water. She had caught a big one that she could take home and fry.
She looked back and saw that Qin Du had already started packing his things, so she quickly got out of the river and prepared to leave with her basket on her back.
Qin Du walked in front as always, with Ji Chaoxi following behind at a leisurely pace.
She glanced at the birds flying haphazardly in the sky and her mouth started watering again.
Birds should be edible too...
She walked along the road, sometimes poking the fish in the basket with a leaf, sometimes picking flowers from the roadside.
Suddenly, the ground was empty, and before she could react, a dull "click" of metal snapping together rang out from the grass.
Ji Chaoxi's mind went blank, and she looked down.
At first, she didn't feel any pain, only a constant tightening in her foot. Then, the force gripped her flesh tightly, squeezing her bones.
Ji Chaoxi was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. She felt her vision starting to go black, and the grass and leaves in front of her began to sway.
She could clearly feel that with each beat of her pulse, a piercing pain shot through her wound.
She gasped for breath, the air she inhaled smelling of rust and dirt, and her ears were filled with sharp, piercing noises.
"Qin Ferry!"
Ji Chaoxi screamed almost as she cried. She lay on the ground, covered in cold sweat from the pain. The animal trap was still tightening, and she felt like she was going to die there.
She didn't know how much time had passed when she vaguely felt someone standing in front of her. She sobbed softly, her whole body trembling with pain.
She listened to what the man was saying to her, but she couldn't hear anything. With each breath, her wound ached like salt being rubbed in, and her temples throbbed wildly.
She felt someone prying open the animal trap on her foot. Her face was covered in tears. Soon, the feeling of restraint on her leg disappeared, but she could feel warm liquid flowing from her foot.
"It hurts...it hurts so much..."
She finally saw the person in front of her clearly. Qin Du frowned deeply, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
He was carefully applying thorny grass to her wound, where the bloodstained animal trap, with a thick wooden stick attached, was placed in the most conspicuous spot.
"Qin Du, it hurts so much..."
Ji Chaoxi couldn't help but burst into tears.
She had never been in so much pain before. Whoever put the trap there, she would never let them get away with it.
Qin Du glanced at her calmly, helped her up, and nestled her in his arms: "If it hurts, bite me."
Ji Chaoxi's face was extremely pale. She didn't even have the strength to bite anyone. She just kept crying until she didn't even have the strength to cry anymore. She felt her eyelids getting heavier and heavier.
Qin Du immediately noticed that something was wrong with Ji Chaoxi, and he shook her awake in a deep voice: "Don't sleep."
Ji Chaoxi opened her eyes with difficulty, but after a while she felt sleepy again. Qin Du impatiently pinched her chin, and she winced in pain.
"You can't sleep."
Ji Chaoxi felt even more aggrieved. She said tremblingly, "I won't die. I'm just a little sleepy. I didn't sleep well last night."
Qin Du ignored her nonsense and made her lean on his shoulder, ordering, "Bite, or I'll beat you up."
Fearing Ji Chaoxi might not understand, he added, "Like Chen Yiping."
Ji Chaoxi's face turned even paler, and she bit his shoulder hard. Qin Du was focused on treating the wound on her foot. When the pressure on her shoulder eased, Qin Du clicked his tongue impatiently, and Ji Chaoxi was so frightened that she immediately bit harder.
After treating the wound, Qin Du carried Ji Chaoxi on his back and picked up her bamboo basket and sickle.
Ji Chaoxi kept biting Qin Du until her cheeks hurt, but as soon as she loosened her grip, Qin Du was about to hit her. She was both sleepy and in pain.
Ji Zhuxin was extremely worried because Ji Chaoxi hadn't returned for so long.
She had already searched the mountain, but couldn't find him. She stood anxiously at the door, her eyes red.
In the dim light, a figure gradually appeared. When Ji Zhuxin saw the person on Qin Du's back, she was so frightened that she almost fainted.
She ran towards Ji Chaoxi while crying, "What happened? How did it suddenly turn out like this? She was perfectly fine when I left."
Seeing Ji Chaoxi's weak state, she cried louder and louder: "Pushcart, pushcart, hurry up and get her to the commune clinic."
The villagers nearby quickly prepared a cart.
"Go to the county hospital. The commune clinic doesn't offer tetanus treatments," Qin Du suddenly said, looking quietly at Ji Chaoxi, who was about to faint. "Don't let her fall asleep; she just got caught in an animal trap."
Ji Zhuxin was stunned for a moment, then quickly patted Ji Chaoxi's face: "Don't sleep!"
Lin Yitang had just been drawing water from the pond when she witnessed all of this. Seeing Ji Chaoxi on the verge of death, she put the water aside.
"The cart is too slow, let's take the jeep, it hasn't left yet."
This vehicle was delivering daily necessities to her. Because the terrain of Xinniu Village is quite complicated, we stayed here for one night.
Ji Zhuxin thanked him repeatedly, tears streaming down her face: "Thank you, Lin Zhiqing."
Lin Yitang nodded awkwardly: "It's alright, saving lives is the priority."
She glanced across the street, and Qin Du, who had been standing there just moments before, was no longer there.
The jeep arrived quickly, and Lin Yitang got in with them.
Xie Zhiqing, having somehow heard the news, hurriedly put on his clothes and got on the bus with them. Lin Yitang glanced at him but didn't say anything.
They arrived at the county hospital quickly.
The doctor carefully examined Ji Chaoxi's foot wound: "Fortunately, the application of thistle has stopped the bleeding, and the major artery was not damaged, so there's no need to worry too much."
Ji Chaoxi had regained some consciousness. She leaned against Ji Zhuxin's chest, her face still somewhat pale: "Sister, it was Qin Du who applied the thorn grass to my face."
Ji Zhuxin sighed and patted her head: "Okay, I understand."
She never expected Qin Du to save Chao tide. She used to always be sarcastic and cynical towards their family, but Qin Du had done them an immense favor.
The thought of Ji Chaoxi possibly leaving her caused Ji Zhuxin excruciating pain in her heart. She only had this one relative in the world, and if Ji Chaoxi were gone, she wouldn't want to live anymore.
Lin Yitang sat beside Ji Chaoxi, looking at the wound on his foot, and thinking about the man who had been calm just now, a strange feeling suddenly welled up in her heart.
During his stay in Xinniu Village, Lin Yitang roughly learned about the relationship between the Ji family and Qin Du. Even so, was he still willing to save people?
But after learning his identity, she was afraid of being gossiped about, so she kept her distance from him. How was she any different from the other people in the village?
Xie Zhiqing stood by, wanting to help, but Ji Zhuxin kept him away with a cold face.
Xie Zhiqing paused, his expression somewhat dejected.
