Le Bao didn't sleep well last night. She had a nightmare in the middle of the night and woke up crying, looking for her mother.

"You guys go to sleep. You have to get up early for work and school tomorrow. I'll carry her."

Lu Jianguo told the three of them to go upstairs to rest. He didn't have to get up early and could stay up all night with the little guy.

"Dad, don't push yourself. Call us if you need anything."

After the three left, Lu Jianguo sat on the sofa, picked up a blanket from the side, covered Le Bao with it, and quietly kept her company.

He was telling someone to wait for her response.

"Lu Chenyue, I have a lot of photos of Le Bao when he was little on my phone. I'll send them to you once they're fixed."

Tang Wanning did not respond to Lu Chenyue, but changed the subject.

"it is good."

The room darkened, leaving only a sliver of hazy sunlight filtering in from the window, softening the surrounding contours.

The two lay side by side, the air so still they could hear each other's breathing, long and shallow, their breaths mingling in the air.

Neither of them moved or spoke. A deep, unspoken affection lingered in their silence.

The sound of their heartbeats quietly drowned out their breathing, one beat after another, in sync with each other's rhythm, spreading out in the dim light.
