Redemption from the Abyss: The School Beauty Insists on Pulling Me Out of the Mire
Chapter 13 Transferring Classes
When I returned to the classroom of Grade 11 (8), the physics teacher was still drawing force analysis diagrams on the podium.
Xie Wang ignored the stares from the whole class and walked straight to the last row. He reached into the desk and pulled out the black backpack.
"Sizzle—"
The sound of the zipper being pulled open was particularly clear in the quiet back row.
The chubby guy next to Xie Wang was startled. Seeing Xie Wang start tidying up the few textbooks he'd used as a disguise on the table, his eyes instantly reddened. He sniffed and leaned closer in a low voice, "Brother Wang... did Old Wang really persuade you to quit? He won't even let you attend this last class?"
In Fatty's eyes, Xie Wang's posture clearly indicated that he had been kicked out of the school.
"That's fine... the sooner I leave, the sooner I'll be free."
The fat guy pulled out a handful of his secret stash of chocolates from his pocket and stuffed them all into Xie Wang's backpack, his expression tragic: "Brother, you have to do well over there. If anyone bullies you, just mention my name... although it won't really help. Hey, take these with you, don't go hungry."
Xie Wang paused in his tidying up.
He looked at the pile of colorful chocolates in his backpack, then at the fat boy's hunched face.
Xie Wang's lips curled up slightly, and he reached out to pat the fat man's broad shoulder.
"Don't cry, you won't die."
He slung his backpack over one shoulder and said calmly, "I wasn't reassigned."
"Huh?" The fat man, snot bubbles hanging from his nose, was stunned. "Then where are you going?"
"Go next door."
Xie Wang pointed to the end of the corridor, "Teacher Li told me to go to Class 1, it's quieter there to sleep."
After saying that, Xie Wang didn't explain further. Under the astonished gazes of the whole class, he picked up his schoolbag and strode out the back door.
The fat guy was left standing there, bewildered in the wind: "Class 1...1? Holy crap?!"
……
The corridor is very short, only fifty meters from Class 8 to Class 1.
Teacher Li stood at the door of Class 1, trying to calm his excitement. He had just made a promise to the principal: if Xie Wang could win the gold medal, he would take full responsibility for the class transfer.
Seeing Xie Wang slowly walking over, Teacher Li waved to him: "Xie Wang, zip up your clothes. You're a top student now that you're in Class 1, so you need to change your attitude."
Xie Wang casually zipped up his jacket, still looking like he hadn't slept well: "Teacher, can I go in now?"
Teacher Li shook her head helplessly and pushed open the door to Class 1 of Grade 11.
The classroom was quiet, everyone engrossed in doing practice problems. At the sound, dozens of eyes snapped open.
"Everyone, stop for a moment."
Teacher Li clapped her hands and pointed to Xie Wang beside her, "Let me introduce a new student to our class. Xie Wang will be transferring to our class today to receive intensive training as a student with special talents in computer competitions."
Quiet.
A deathly silence.
Immediately afterwards, whispers erupted in the classroom.
"Who? Xie Wang?"
"That last-place student in Class 8?"
"Has the teacher gone mad? Bringing this kind of garbage in?"
"Look at him, he's got a band-aid on his wrist, he looks like he just finished a fight..."
Those gazes were piercing and direct. Disdain, disgust, shock, and undisguised rejection. In the eyes of these top students, Xie Wang was an anomaly, an intruder.
Xie Wang didn't care about this at all.
He even found it somewhat boring. The reactions of these top students were exactly as he had expected.
"Quiet!"
Teacher Li tapped the blackboard, her face serious. "Xie Wang has an exceptional talent for computers and is a key student the school is focusing on developing. I don't want to hear any gossip. A hero's origins don't matter; his achievements speak for themselves."
The homeroom teacher spoke, which barely suppressed the murmurs below, but the atmosphere of rejection remained strong.
"Xie Wang, you..." Teacher Li looked around the classroom and pointed to an empty seat in the last row, "That's the only empty seat left, you can sit there for now."
That was the last row, in the corner by the window.
And in front of that spot sat Su Qinghe.
At this moment, Su Qinghe stood with his back straight, twirling a black pen in his hand.
The moment Xie Wang walked in, her clear, cold phoenix eyes flickered slightly.
He really came.
Su Qinghe looked at the boy on the podium.
An hour earlier, in the attic, he had rejected her notes, saying he would "surprise" her.
She thought he was just putting on a brave face, since breaking the "last-place elimination" rule at No. 1 High School was practically a pipe dream.
But now, he's actually standing here.
He relied on his own abilities.
Su Qinghe's fingers tightened slightly as he gripped the pen.
She re-examined Xie Wang.
It seems that Xie Wang is smarter and more unpredictable than she imagined.
Xie Wang walked straight through the aisle under the watchful eyes of the entire class.
He walked steadily, his eyes fixed straight ahead.
He didn't stop walking as he passed Su Qinghe.
Su Qinghe didn't turn around; he just looked down at the exam paper in front of him, his expression unchanged.
"Thump."
The schoolbag was thrown on the last table.
Xie Wang pulled out a chair and sat down.
As the sound of a chair scraping against the floor rang out, Su Qinghe, who was in front of him, slightly turned his head.
Their eyes met briefly in the air.
There wasn't much emotion involved.
It was just two equally intelligent people confirming each other's presence in this noisy classroom.
Xie Wang leaned back in his chair, looking at the back of Su Qinghe's head with her hair tied in a high ponytail, and gave a very faint twitch at the corner of his mouth.
He stretched out his finger and tapped it lightly twice on the desk.
"Quite a coincidence."
His voice was very low, only Su Qinghe in front could hear it, "We meet again."
Su Qinghe paused for a second.
She didn't turn around or say anything; she simply lowered her head again and continued working on the complex physics problem.
But she wrote the formulas on the draft paper much faster than before.
On the podium, Teacher Li began her lecture.
The sunlight outside the window was a bit too bright.
Here, I'm very close to her.
This feels pretty good.
