Entertainment: A song that brought his deceased wife back to life.
Chapter 261 This is my boyfriend's house, so stop acting like a savior.
Xu Qing stared at the glaring letters "Siren" on the A4 paper for a long time.
Hong Yan was still panting heavily, and even after drinking two glasses of water, she still couldn't catch her breath.
Luo Qianyu leaned over for a look, but couldn't understand the English.
But she understood Xu Qing's expression.
His face was a little pale.
It's not fear, but the feeling is like standing in front of a grave and suddenly hearing knocking sounds coming from inside.
Where is Chen Che?
Xu Qing's voice was very low.
Hong Yan shook his head repeatedly: "His whereabouts are absolutely confidential, there's no way to dig them up. All we found out was that he landed at the Capital Airport yesterday with that soprano, and Chen Che even paid for the car himself."
Xu Qing flipped the A4 paper over, folded it casually, and tucked it under the remote control.
"Okay. You can go back now."
Hong Yan immediately became furious: "What kind of talk is that? You should at least give me some details! That woman's flowery language could really blow the roof off—"
I said, "I understand."
Xu Qing spoke in a calm tone, as if he were asking what to eat for dinner.
Hong Yan had been dealing with him for quite some time, and upon hearing this commotion, she swallowed the rest of her words.
Once everyone left, the room became completely quiet.
Luo Qianyu sat cross-legged on the sofa, tilting her head to look at Xu Qing.
Xu Qing leaned against the window, her fingers casually picking at the edge of the clownfish sticker on the guitar.
Xu Qing remained silent.
Well, not saying anything means you agree.
"Wasn't the code all destroyed? Where did Chen Che get it from?"
Luo Qianyu pressed for an answer.
"The code is gone."
Xu Qing finally spoke, his throat a little dry, "But the music is still there. The Sirens had a set of experimental scores back then, and I wrote half of it and then left it in the archives at Humboldt University."
He paused, then continued, "That incomplete score has a very strange melodic structure, which was originally used to activate the emotional resonance module. To put it bluntly, as long as the frequency matches, it can directly tear down a person's psychological defenses."
Luo Qianyu felt a chill run down her spine upon hearing this.
"How far can it be torn?"
Xu Qing did not answer.
This reaction is even more chilling than a direct answer.
Around 9 p.m., the doorbell suddenly rang.
Luo Qianyu slipped on her slippers to open the door.
The door opened, and there stood Adam Lambert.
This guy was wearing a wrinkled black hoodie, and there were a few drops of ketchup-like stains on his jeans. His suitcase was just lying around his feet. He looked like he had just gotten off a plane and was rushing here.
But his blue eyes were unsettling.
"I must see Xu Qing."
Adam's Chinese was still as broken as ever, but his tone was stiff.
Luo Qianyu simply moved her body sideways, blocking the door completely.
He's asleep.
"This is very important."
"I told you, he's asleep."
Adam was taken aback, staring at Luo Qianyu with a helpless expression: "Little Fish, Chen Che has a bomb that could hurt Xu Qing."
Luo Qianyu's heart skipped a beat, but her face remained tense: "Just report to me if anything happens."
Adam shook his head: "This must be done in person—"
"Just answer whatever Luo Qianyu asks."
Xu Qing's voice drifted slowly from the living room.
Adam glanced at Luo Qianyu, who crossed her arms and reluctantly took half a step.
It really is only half a step.
Adam could only squeeze in by tilting his broad shoulders.
Adam tossed his suitcase into the corner and strode into the living room.
Xu Qing sat casually on the sofa, with two bowls of porridge in front of him, still steaming.
Upon seeing Adam, Xu Qing's first question was, "Have you eaten?"
Adam was completely dumbfounded.
"There's still some left in the pot. The bowls are in the sterilizer; get your own chopsticks."
Adam stared blankly for a long time, finally managing to utter a single word: "Okay."
He obediently ladled out a bowl of porridge and sat down opposite him.
Luo Qianyu immediately sat down next to Xu Qing, arm to arm, her big eyes glaring at Adam, her face saying "Spit it out."
Adam put down his spoon, his face darkening. "Last month, Chen Che ran into people from Deep Sea Capital's European branch at a private dinner in Vienna."
Xu Qing didn't even lift her eyelids, she just took a sip of porridge.
"Although you've crippled Marcus in North America, his European cronies aren't all dead. They're holding onto the Sirens' secrets, including that incomplete score you left at Humboldt University back then."
Adam lowered his voice: "These people set a trap. They packaged the incomplete score as a 'masterpiece' and secretly gave it to Elena. Elena is a theater fanatic; she only valued the piece's artistry."
"But Chen Che isn't so easily fooled."
Adam tapped the rim of his bowl with his chopsticks. "He knows it's yours. He heard you play it on the streets of Berlin eight years ago, and he still remembers it."
Luo Qianyu got anxious and immediately fired back: "Is he crazy to use this to challenge the opponent? He knows how dangerous this thing is to Xu Qing!"
Adam paused for a moment: "Because the people of the Deep Sea have seized Chen Che's weakness."
"The silver ring on his left ring finger."
Xu Qing finally spoke.
Adam nodded.
"That was his late wife's only possession. She forcibly took it from him at a dinner party in Vienna."
The room fell into a deathly silence for a moment.
Luo Qianyu immediately uttered a phrase from the classic Chinese text.
Xu Qing glanced at her sideways, and she stiffened her neck, glaring back defiantly.
"You think you can force him to be your pawn just because of a cheap ring?"
Luo Qianyu was so angry she gritted her teeth. "Is Chen Che really that cowardly?"
Adam sighed: "He's not being cowardly, he's taking a gamble."
"What are we betting on?"
"I'm betting that Xu Qing can pull through."
Adam stared intently at Xu Qing: "He asked me to pass on a message: 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. If you can't even overcome the challenge of writing your own music, your life is completely ruined.'"
Luo Qianyu slammed her hand on the coffee table: "What kind of brain-dead logic is this? Making people with PTSD rub off their own scabs and calling it 'for your own good'? Can't you broaden your perspective? Who does Chen Che think he is, giving psychology lessons?"
Adam looked at the furious Luo Qianyu and gave a wry smile: "That's what I said to him back then too."
Xu Qing remained calm and collected, his gaze fixed on the old guitar with a clownfish sticker in the corner.
Adam suddenly stood up and walked up to Xu Qing: "Xu Qing, I'm determined to handle this. On the day of the challenge match, I absolutely will not—"
Before she could finish speaking, Luo Qianyu sprang up and stood directly between the two of them.
His small frame, barely over 1.6 meters tall, was taut like a bow; with his chin raised, he exuded an aura of 2.8 meters.
"This is my boyfriend's territory, understand? It's his business, we'll handle it ourselves."
Her voice was still a little hoarse, but her words were clear and forceful: "I appreciate your understanding. But please stop with that savior act; Captain America isn't needed here."
Adam was so angered by this old lady's retort that he took half a step back.
He wanted to refute her, but didn't know what to say, so he could only turn to look at Xu Qing.
Xu Qing sat steadily on the sofa, one hand naturally resting on Luo Qianyu's lower back, protecting her tightly.
That's an amazing attitude; it's clear the wife is in charge.
Adam glanced at the hand, shook his head, and chuckled, "Fine, I'll go."
He picked up his suitcase, walked to the door, and couldn't help but turn back, muttering in broken Chinese, "Your girlfriend, absolutely awful."
The door clicked shut.
Luo Qianyu plopped down on the sofa with a "thump," her domineering aura from just moments ago instantly vanishing, leaving her sprawled like a rag doll: "Oh my god, my legs are weak."
Xu Qing turned her head to look at her.
The girl was pressing her trembling knees down with both hands, her lips shaking.
That burst of attacks just now completely depleted my mana bar.
Xu Qing chuckled and reached out to pull her head to rest on his shoulder: "You looked pretty fierce when you were guarding your food just now."
"Absolutely!"
Luo Qianyu buried her face in his shoulder and groaned, "Laughable! This is my home turf, how can I let an outsider steal the microphone?"
Xu Qing ran his fingers through her half-dry hair and gently smoothed it twice.
The autumn night wind in Beijing was blowing in through the cracks in the window, and it was quite cold.
But this patched-up room was so warm that you didn't even want to move your fingers.
