"Oh? You hurt your foot? Is it serious?" Lu Weihua's anxious voice came from the other end of the phone.

"It's alright, we have Mom and her safflower oil, it'll be fine in two or three days." Ye Wenxi looked down at her ankle, and indeed the swelling had gone down quite a bit.

"I'll go back and keep you company," Lu Weihua said.

"No, you should stay at school and be with your boyfriend," Ye Wenxi joked.

"What's your boyfriend/girlfriend? We haven't officially confirmed our relationship yet." Lu Weihua hesitated for a moment.

"What? You two were already holding hands? Doesn't that count as confirming your relationship?" Ye Wenxi raised her voice an octave higher.

"Holding hands... doesn't mean anything." Lu Weihua said somewhat unsure of himself.

"???" Ye Wenxi was dumbfounded.

She hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Is it you who disagrees, or him?"

Lu Weihua remained silent for a long time, then slowly let out a sigh.

"I don't know either..."

"I didn't bring it up myself, and neither did he. It's just..."

Ye Wenxi frowned, feeling that something was amiss.

"How about we have dinner together the day after tomorrow?"

"Huh? Eating... um... never mind." Lu Weihua stammered.

"My foot is fine, I should be able to walk again the day after tomorrow," Ye Wenxi explained.

"No..." Lu Weihua lowered his voice, "He was a little embarrassed."

"He doesn't want to eat with me?" Ye Wenxi raised an eyebrow.

"He said he was embarrassed, that he had never experienced anything like this before," Lu Weihua muttered softly.

"Oh... alright then." Ye Wenxi didn't insist any further, then paused for a moment before adding, "What do you think of this person? Do you like him?"

Lu Weihua was stunned for a moment.

"He likes me, that's alright... He's really good to me, very considerate, and always thinking of me."

"So... is he good to you, or are you better to him?" Ye Wenxi asked earnestly, her tone softening.

"He did so many things for me... I didn't actually do anything for him, just gave him things and checked on him occasionally."

"But he absolutely refused to accept them. I even secretly ordered this dress without telling him," Lu Weihua said seriously.

Ye Wenxi recognized the taste; it was somewhat familiar, a flavor commonly found in the 21st century.

But she can't be sure yet.

When that person said "I'm sorry" to see Ye Wenxi, was it because they were genuinely shy, or were they avoiding her?

He did a lot, but never asked for confirmation. Was he really introverted, or was he just pretending to be profound?

Since Lu Weihua seems to have a thing for this guy, she can't be too hasty in making it clear. She needs to consider his feelings and observe him further.

"You...take care of yourself, you know?" Ye Wenxi suddenly changed the subject, her tone becoming serious.

"What? You want me to... um? Oh dear, we haven't gotten to that point yet!" Lu Weihua exclaimed anxiously.

"I didn't talk about inside matters! I meant all aspects! Do you understand what all aspects mean?" Ye Wenxi sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"I really don't know if you're innocent or just stupid. You usually seem to know everything, but when it comes to yourself, you act like an idiot."

Lu Weihua was speechless after being rebuked, and muttered under his breath, "Oh...okay. I won't send him anything else after this dress is ordered."

Then he added, "Actually, it wasn't much money..."

"Also, if he doesn't bring up the relationship, keep your distance from him, understand?" Ye Wenxi instructed, word by word.

"Okay! I understand!" Lu Weihua assured him confidently.

"Why do I have some doubts about you?" Ye Wenxi said quietly.

Lu Weihua stood there, holding it in.

Because Ye Wenxi saw through her.

She actually doesn't really believe in herself.

Logically speaking, holding hands before confirming a relationship is too low-class. Giving gifts before confirming a relationship is too forward. If any of her friends were in this situation, she would definitely advise them to break up.

But...

She just couldn't explain herself when it came to Du Yi.

His hand would slip across her wrist unintentionally, lingering between her fingers, and gently brush against her wrist.

It won't be long, and you'll loosen up just right.

He would then lower his head, looking regretful for his impulsiveness and loss of composure, and whisper "I'm sorry."

The lingering warmth on his fingertips and the flutter in his heart made Lu Weihua's heart skip a beat.

His care was meticulous. Anything she casually mentioned wanting to eat would appear on the table the next day.

She coughed, and he turned around to buy medicine.

She stayed up late studying in the library, and he stayed by her side, saying nothing, only glancing at her every now and then.

Gentle, restrained, and knows when to advance and retreat.

Ye Wenxi held the phone and remained silent for a few seconds.

"Alright, I won't say any more. You know what I mean."

Lu Weihua gave a muffled "hmm".

After hanging up the phone, Ye Wenxi leaned back in her chair and stared at the ceiling.

A voice inside me was already saying: You better come straight to the truth, stop with the pretense, or else...

After hanging up the phone, Lu Weihua tidied his hair and walked out of the dormitory building.

Today she and Du Yi made plans to go to that Russian restaurant on Central Street together.

Du Yi said he helped his supervisor with a project and received a small fee, just enough to treat her to a nice meal, and she was the first person he thought of.

Lu Weihua arrived at the agreed location as promised. Du Yi was wearing a navy blue jacket, a simple style, but clean and tidy, with neat collar and cuffs.

As soon as she stepped out of the dormitory building, she heard him waving from afar.

"Wei Hua!" Du Yi walked quickly over from under the streetlight.

Lu Weihua walked over with a smile.

"Have you been waiting long?" she couldn't help but ask when she saw that Du Yi's ears were red from the cold.

Du Yi shook his head and grinned: "I just arrived a little while ago."

"It's getting colder tonight, why are you wearing so little? Don't you have a thick down jacket?" Lu Weihua frowned.

"Oh, that's broken. It's okay, I'm not cold," Du Yi explained casually, but his bright red nose and the collar he had unconsciously pulled up betrayed his true condition.

"Let's go, I've reserved a table by the window, with a perfect view of the street." He changed the subject, his tone light and cheerful.

The two squeezed onto the bus.

The bus was crowded, so Du Yi stood next to Lu Weihua, using his body to shield her from the rush hour crowds and prevent others from jostling her.

"I'm sorry, Weihua, for making you squeeze onto the bus with me," Du Yi said, bowing his head with a hint of guilt.

"Look at what you're saying, what else would you take besides the bus?" Lu Weihua smiled indifferently and turned to look at him.

Du Yi paused for a moment, then suddenly whispered:

"You must usually... travel by car, right? After all, you grew up in such a prestigious family."

Lu Weihua was stunned for a moment.

After saying that, Du Yi seemed to realize it was inappropriate, and immediately changed his words to make amends, softening his tone and looking somewhat embarrassed.

"I'm sorry, I apologize for my prejudice. Although you are the commander's daughter, you are different."

Lu Weihua smiled and asked, "Then what am I like?"

Du Yi looked at her, his eyes filled with a sincere and touching expression:

"Weihua, you are the most sincere, kindest, and most comfortable girl I have ever met."

"It has nothing to do with whose daughter you are. You are Lu Weihua. You are as bright as a ray of light that has shone into my life."
