As they talked, the two walked to the gate of Chen Yongqiang's house.

Pushing open the fence gate, a gray wolf cub darted out from behind the house, nuzzling affectionately against Chen Yongqiang's trouser leg.

Zhang Jianguo quickly recognized him: "Brother Yongqiang, this wolf cub is impossible to tame."

Chen Yongqiang bent down and rubbed the wolf cub's head, then turned and went into the house to take down the hunting rifle hanging on the wall: "Tame it slowly, it can eventually be tamed."

At this moment, Lin Xiulian came out of the kitchen. Seeing that there was a guest, she poured a bowl of water and handed it to him, saying, "Brother, have some water."

Zhang Jianguo accepted the gift with both hands, and said very politely, "Thank you, sister-in-law."

This was the first time Lin Xiulian had heard someone address her like that, and a sweet feeling welled up in her heart, but she kept a straight face and simply asked softly, "Are you going into the mountains?"

"Hmm, we've spotted the Wild Boar King." Chen Yongqiang loaded a bullet into the barrel of his gun.

"It's almost lunchtime, why don't you eat before you leave?" Lin Xiulian glanced at the sky, her tone filled with concern.

Zhang Jianguo put down his bowl and continued, "We need to hurry and chase after it, or that beast might escape again."

Lin Xiulian said no more, turned around and quickly went into the kitchen. She wrapped a few still-warm steamed buns in a cloth and stuffed them into Chen Yongqiang's satchel: "Have something to eat on the way, and be careful."

Chen Yongqiang nodded, slung his hunting rifle over his shoulder, and the wolf cub followed him around his feet.

He bent down and patted its head: "Stay home and behave yourself."

The two walked out of the courtyard one after the other and quickly headed towards Heixiazi Ridge.

Soon they met up with Zhang Jianjun, who had been waiting for them, at the crossroads.

Zhang Jianjun had two hunting rifles slung over his back, and a tan dog lay at his feet.

The dog immediately perked up its ears upon seeing a stranger.

When it approached Chen Yongqiang, it suddenly hesitated and sniffed, clearly uneasy at the scent of the wolf cubs on him.

"Heizi, come back." Zhang Jianjun called softly. The dog obediently retreated to his feet, but its eyes remained fixed on Chen Yongqiang.

Zhang Jianjun nodded to Chen Yongqiang in greeting: "Brother Yongqiang."

As he spoke, he took a hunting rifle off his shoulder and handed it to his older brother, Zhang Jianguo, who was standing beside him.

Zhang Jianguo took the gun: "Jianjun knows this area very well. With him leading the way, we can save a lot of trouble."

Three figures carrying hunting rifles walked along the winding mountain path into the depths of the dense forest.

Blackie trotted ahead, occasionally stopping to look back and wait for its owner.

Before long, they arrived at the area where the two brothers had set a trap.

Zhang Jianjun squatted down and pointed to the messy traces in the mud: "Look here."

Chen Yongqiang bent down to examine the area closely. Broken tree branches were scattered on the muddy ground, and several hoofprints were embedded in the soft soil.

He reached out to measure the size of the hoof prints, then picked up a broken branch.

"It's definitely this one." Chen Yongqiang stood up, his tone certain.

"These hoof prints are a whole size larger than those of an ordinary wild boar, and the broken branch marks are fresh. Judging by the depth of its rooting, it must be quite large."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Jianguo gripped his hunting rifle tighter, his eyes scanning the surrounding bushes warily.

Zhang Jianjun patted the mongrel's back: "Heizi, sniff here."

Blackie approached the hoof prints, his nose twitching slightly as he carefully sniffed the lingering scent in the air.

It barked twice, its tail held high in tension, clearly having caught the scent of its target.

Looking at the well-trained hunting dog, Chen Yongqiang couldn't help but think of the little wolf cub in his own yard.

He secretly hoped that the little thing would grow up quickly and become a good hunting helper like Kuroko in the future.

"That beast shouldn't have gone far. Hei Zi has already memorized the smell." Zhang Jianguo looked towards the depths of Qinglong Mountain.

Blackie led the way, and the three followed the boar king's tracks deeper into the dense forest.

While keeping an eye on his surroundings, Zhang Jianguo casually asked, "Yongqiang, did you hunt all the wild boar meat sold at Liang Meie's stall in your village?"

Chen Yongqiang pushed aside the branches blocking his way and did not deny it: "I hunt alone, and sometimes I'm too busy. So I ask her to help me process some scraps of meat."

"She sold them all to our village," Zhang Jianguo said casually.

Chen Yongqiang immediately realized this might affect the Zhang brothers' business: "I didn't think this through. I'll remind her another day not to sell to your village."

Zhang Jianguo didn't take it seriously: "It's alright. We can sell them in town; the price is higher there. Besides, there are plenty of wild animals in these mountains; everyone can earn a living through their own abilities."

At this point, Zhang Jianjun interjected, "Brother Yongqiang, how many wild boars have you hunted this year?"

Chen Yongqiang silently calculated in his mind. Since the system's assistance, at least a dozen wild boars had fallen to his gun.

But he only gave a vague answer: "About four or five heads."

"Brother Yongqiang is truly formidable," Zhang Jianjun couldn't help but exclaim. "Even the two of us brothers combined could only manage to take down four or five of them."

Chen Yongqiang responded modestly, "It was just good luck; I happened to figure out the way around this mountain."

The three chased after the trail, crossing two hills, but ultimately failed to catch up with the cunning wild boar king.

As darkness fell completely, they had no choice but to stop and rest under a sheltered rocky outcrop.

Zhang Jianguo took out his dry rations, took a bite, and said, "This wild boar king is too cunning; it only chooses the difficult paths."

Chen Yongqiang leaned back on the rock and unscrewed the kettle: "It's very cunning. I found traces of it twice, but it got away both times."

"Brother Yongqiang, you're really brave." Zhang Jianguo swallowed the steamed bun in his mouth.

I couldn't help but marvel, "With just a hunting rifle, he dared to chase this big guy all by himself."

The two brothers, carrying two guns, still felt it wasn't safe enough, so they specifically asked Chen Yongqiang to join them.

Unbeknownst to them, Chen Yongqiang was carrying a trump card: a Type 56 semi-automatic rifle, far more powerful than a hunting rifle, which lay quietly in his system space, ready to be used at any time.

Zhang Jianguo finished his steamed bun in a few bites, then patted the crumbs off his clothes: "After you cross that ridge, there's a narrow valley pass. That's the only way that beast can get into the deep mountains."

As he spoke, he used a twig to draw a simple map on the ground: "The pass is flanked by steep slopes on both sides. We can keep watch behind the rocks on the slopes. At night, the mountain wind blows in our direction, so it won't be able to smell us."

Chen Yongqiang glanced at the topographical map drawn by Zhang Jianguo: "This location is well chosen. It's high up with a wide view, definitely a good spot for an ambush."

Zhang Jianjun had already slung his hunting rifle back over his shoulder and patted Heizi, who was lying at his feet: "Shall we hurry up and set off? While it's still dark, we can still see the road clearly."

The three immediately got up, packed their belongings, and followed Zhang Jianguo up the ridge.

Kuroko seemed to understand the importance of the mission, and quietly followed its master without making a sound.

Nearly an hour later, they finally arrived at the valley pass that Zhang Jianguo had mentioned.

The place was indeed as treacherous as he had described. Steep slopes ran on both sides.

The three quickly took their positions, checking their guns and loading ammunition by the moonlight.
