Over the next few days, Chen Yongqiang went fishing at the reservoir, while Liang Meie was in charge of selling the fish. The two of them worked together and achieved twice the result with half the effort.

That day, Chen Yongqiang had just returned from ice fishing at the reservoir with a bountiful catch.

Liang Meie also returned home from selling fish in town. While sorting through her money, she said, "Looks like I'll have fish to sell again tomorrow."

After dividing the money from selling the fish, she brought up something: "Director Yao asked me to pass on a message to you: the TV plane tickets you asked him to find last time are on track."

"Did they say what the conditions were?" Chen Yongqiang had wanted to buy a TV for a long time, and he had already prepared enough money, except for a TV ticket.

"They said some leader wanted to eat snow frog. Where are we going to get it in this freezing weather?" Liang Meie muttered.

"How much do you want? Did you say?" Chen Yongqiang straightened up and wiped the cold, fishy water from his hands.

"It wasn't explicitly stated, but from the tone, one or two definitely wouldn't be enough." Liang Meie carefully put the money away.

"In the dead of winter, the river and lake surfaces are frozen solid, and the toads have long since burrowed into the mud and died. Where can we find such a rare creature? I think Director Yao is deliberately trying to put us in a difficult position."

Logically speaking, this condition is indeed almost impossible to meet.

Chen Yongqiang replied, "I understand the conditions. The fish will still be sold tomorrow as usual. I know what I'm doing."

Seeing his calm demeanor, Liang Meie swallowed back the complaints that were on the tip of her tongue.

This man is cunning; he might actually have some tricks up his sleeve. "Alright, you decide for yourself. That thing isn't easy to get; don't force it if it really doesn't work out."

She turned to go home, but after taking a couple of steps, she turned back again: "Oh, right, Director Yao also said that televisions are in short supply, and they can only be kept until the end of this month at the latest. Once this opportunity is gone, it'll be gone."

There are only a few days left at the end of the month. Chen Yongqiang nodded: "Understood."

After seeing Liang Meie off, Chen Yongqiang didn't rush into the house; he stood in the yard for a while.

"Snow frog...it seems that fishing alone isn't enough."

During the meal, Lin Xiulian murmured, "Maybe we shouldn't bother with the television for now?"

"Snow frogs aren't hard to catch, I know where to find them," Chen Yongqiang replied casually.

Seeing that he was confident, Lin Xiulian said no more.

The next day, Chen Yongqiang changed into a pair of rubber boots, left his fishing gear behind, carrying only a sturdy wooden bucket and an ice pick, and headed straight for the reservoir. Tianlang followed silently beside him.

Instead of going to the open ice surface where he usually cast his line, he walked upstream along the edge of the reservoir towards the tributary stream that flows into it.

About half an hour later, he arrived at a shallow bay far from human habitation.

The sound of flowing water can already be heard here, as the water is constantly flowing and the surface has not frozen.

Chen Yongqiang squatted down by the stream and reached out to test the water temperature.

"It's really cold!" Fortunately, his physical condition was already beyond that of ordinary people.

He stepped onto the pebbles and into the shallow water, beginning to turn over the stones that weren't covered by ice.

His movements were also very deliberate. He didn't just haphazardly overturn the stone, but rather carefully pried up a corner of it, following the direction of the stone, while his eyes quickly scanned the cracks beneath it.

Snow frogs are averse to light, and these cool, shady spots under rocks are perfect for them to hide in during the winter.

He turned over several pieces, only to find some water insects fleeing in panic. He wasn't impatient; he continued searching along the stream, piece by piece.

At first, Sirius quietly followed on the shore, his gaze following his master's movements.

At one point, it suddenly tensed up and turned its head toward the bushes to the side.

From the depths of the withered grass came a very faint rustling sound.

Just as Chen Yongqiang turned over another flat stone, he caught a glimpse of a white shadow darting out of the bushes! Almost simultaneously, the wolf on the shore shot out like an arrow.

Without a word, it rushed out and pounced on the figure, which was a wild rabbit molting.

Startled, the hare desperately fled towards the woods on the slope.

Sirius's speed was astonishing; it closed the distance in just a few leaps and bounds, its figure leaping and bounding between the snow and withered grass exuding a primal, impactful force.

This was the first time it had stopped waiting for commands and chased after something entirely on instinct.

Chen Yongqiang stopped what he was doing, straightened up, and glanced around. He didn't shout, he just watched: Sirius needed a moment like this.

The view was quickly blocked by the trees on the slope, and all that could be heard was the sound of a dry branch breaking in the distance, and a short, sharp flapping sound.

Chen Yongqiang looked away and continued bending down to search for stones. The icy water soaked through his rubber boots.

But he was very patient. Finally, when he turned over a large, dark blue-green rock that was half-submerged in water, he found three grayish-brown snow frogs with black spots on their backs lying in the soft mud beneath the rock. Startled, they burrowed into the mud.

He acted quickly, pinching their smooth backs, lifting them one by one, and throwing them into the thick wooden bucket next to him.

Chen Yongqiang searched a little further and added two more. With five in the bucket, it was a pretty good haul.

Just then, the soft crunching sound of footsteps on snow came from the slope.

Sirius returned, his mouth empty, panting slightly, his chest and abdomen heaving.

It walked to the stream, silently looked at Chen Yongqiang, and wagged its tail.

Chen Yongqiang glanced at it. "Didn't catch it? It's the first time, not surprising. As long as you know how to chase, that's good."

Sirius lowered its head and licked the snowflakes off its front paws.

Chen Yongqiang followed the same method and searched along the stream for a while.

The ice water made his calves numb, but the amount of snow frog in the wooden bucket had indeed increased, and he estimated that it weighed about one or two pounds.

Working in cold water was ultimately unpleasant. He carried the bucket ashore, and with a slight change in his mind, he took Tianlang and the bucket into that warm, spring-like space.

Sirius relaxed and shook his fur.

But this peace didn't last long. When its gaze swept over the wild boar king in a corner of the space, it had the instinct to eat meat.

Chen Yongqiang glanced at the restless Tianlang, said nothing, and walked to where the prey was stored. He cut off a piece of wild boar meat and threw it in front of the wolf.

"Eat up, grow up quickly."

Sirius's attention was drawn to the food. He lowered his head, sniffed it, and began to tear into it with large bites.

Chen Yongqiang strolled slowly around the space, inspecting his "business".

He stopped when he reached a corner where poultry were kept in captivity.

Beside the original few hens, there were now a dozen or so fluffy yellow tufts of feathers, chirping and pecking clumsily at the grains scattered on the ground.

On the other side, in the area separated by netting, the pheasants had also reaped their rewards. Four or five baby pheasants with light stripes on their bodies were cautiously following behind their parents, darting in and out of the spirit field.

Looking at these new lives, Chen Yongqiang's expression softened. Chickens lay eggs, eggs hatch into chickens—the living things in this space were finally beginning their cycle. This was a good omen.

Once the chill had dissipated and Tianlang had finished eating the meat, Chen Yongqiang, carrying his bucket and tools, turned his attention back to the cold, real world by the reservoir.

"Catch a few more and we'll go back." He didn't know how many snow frogs Yao Lina needed, but the more the better.
