Chapter 28 Please come looking for trouble another time.
Back in his office, Ian looked at his eyes.
The left eye's points have increased to 334, and the second copying ability has appeared.
With the celebrity effect, the three-flight incident, and the aftermath of the Blazer incident, there is expected to be a slight increase in the future.
Posting more news about my relationship with Kate Beckinsale later might boost my popularity; the only downside is that I can't post nude photos.
Ian felt ashamed that he wasn't dedicated enough and couldn't completely sacrifice himself—a true god-level journalist should be able to hang himself on the pillar of shame!
Just then, Lloyd said, "Congressman Brand is here."
Ian nodded. "Please let him in."
City Councilman Riel Brand was a debonair middle-aged man, dressed in a sharp suit with his hair slicked back.
Those who participate in elections must pay attention to their image. You can't be too extravagant, but you also can't be too cheap. You can't be tasteless, and you certainly can't be too rude.
People are visual creatures; they only believe what they want to believe. If you are sloppy, they will instinctively dislike you. Some will even make excuses, saying that you can't even manage yourself, so how can you manage a city or even a country?
It's a ridiculous reason, but the person who said it actually believes it.
Therefore, most American politicians are middle-aged and handsome, and even fat people don't look so greasy.
Sitting across from Ian, looking at the photos in his hand, Senator Brand frowned: "Those bodyguards are all useless."
He appeared very calm.
A good politician is usually also a good negotiator; no matter how hysterically angry they are in private, they always manage to appear calm on the surface.
Ian smiled and said, "First, I need to clarify one thing... I'm not here for you, Your Excellency."
The Member of Parliament sighed, "I understand, after all, it's Marta's house."
Then he looked at Ian: "What do you want?"
Ian replied, "Friend. I just want to be your friend."
Brand gave a dismissive smile: "Nobody makes friends this way."
Ian replied, "Everything happens by chance. At least for now, I'm trying to make up for it. I've given you all the photos."
Congressman Brand laughed and said, "The problem is, how can I believe you didn't keep the film?"
Ian shrugged. "You see, here's the problem. Even if I swear to God I deleted all the negatives, you won't believe me, right? I mean, even if I burned down my house and this newspaper office, you still wouldn't believe me. In fact, from the moment I got these things, I had no way of proving that I didn't keep any copies, but there was no need to."
Brand chuckled softly. "You're right. There's no need for proof, as long as we're friends. So, what do you want as a friend?"
Ian shrugged: "More friends."
Congressman Brand chuckled. "Sounds not too difficult."
He took out a lighter and burned the photos one by one, casually saying, "I accept your friendship. I often host parties; would you like to attend?"
Ian smiled. "That would be wonderful. Do you need any gifts?"
Congressman Brand had already stood up: "No need, especially not cameras and bugging devices."
………………
Five o'clock in the afternoon.
Ian saw that he had almost finished his work and was ready to leave.
He went to the window, glanced down as usual, and then frowned.
After thinking for a moment, he walked out of his office and called out, "Bill!"
A young editor walked over and said, "Boss, I'm here."
Ian beckoned him over and whispered a few words of advice to him.
Bill nodded: "Okay, boss."
After giving instructions to his subordinates, he leisurely walked out of the newspaper office.
He hadn't gone far when a black Cadillac pulled up beside him.
Two burly black men got out of the car, one of them pointing a gun at Ian's back: "Our boss wants to talk to you, Mr. Carl."
Once in the car, Ian saw a large black man sitting inside.
His face was somewhat flat, as if he had been born face-first, but his eyes revealed ferocity and cruelty.
MS13's leader, Crazy Git.
You can tell what kind of person someone is just by their nickname.
Seeing Ian enter, Gitte grinned slightly: "Ian Karl?"
Ian nodded: "Yes, Mr. Gitt."
The latest novel is first published here!
"You know me?" Jitter looked at him in surprise.
Ian shrugged: "You're no nobody, sir. Besides, I personally participated in and reported on the riverside villa shooting. I thought you should have come to me sooner."
This made Jitter laugh out loud.
Jitter looked at him and laughed, "That's certainly part of the reason, but not the whole story."
Ian smiled: "If that's the case, what other reason is there?"
"Charlie Mills," Gitt said. "I asked him to do a little job for me back then."
Ian suddenly realized: "The producer couple?"
Jitter nodded slightly: "Did he say anything to you?"
Ian shook his head with a smile: "You saw the news? In that situation, the only thing I wanted to do was stab him to death. Saying even one more word would be irresponsible to my own survival."
Gitte grinned. "That's what I thought too. The question is, did you get anything out of Charlie Mills?"
Ian shook his head: "No. If I get any important information, I usually either have a good talk with the person involved, or I just reveal it directly."
Ian didn't actually get anything special; it was a bit of an undeserved misfortune.
Jitter frowned slightly. "I believe what you say, but I don't like this answer. Perhaps you should do something to satisfy me."
What the hell do you want?
Do you want me to unzip your pants?
Ian took a deep breath.
Then he chuckled and said, "I suggest you set another time to settle this; not today."
What?
Jitter was taken aback.
Ian turned and pointed behind him: "See that building? The third-floor window."
Jett turned his head and saw through the rear window of the car that a man on the third floor was holding a camera and pointing it at them.
Jitter was stunned.
Ian had already said, "My man. He didn't have a gun, but sometimes a camera is more effective than a gun. Ian Carl got into Mr. Gitte's car, and the next day his body was found in the ditch? You wouldn't want my death linked to you like that, would you? How about threatening me at a different time? At least let my men film me getting out of your car safely?"
He shrugged: "You have plenty of opportunities to threaten my life."
