Chapter 98 Material (2)

Lynn walked over with her notebook. Ido was sitting in the first row, on the left side. There was an empty seat to her right. A short, fair leg was draped over that seat. Ido only moved her leg back when Lynn came over.

"I saved this especially for you; I knew you'd be late," Ido said casually.

"Thank you," Lynn said politely.

The classroom was quiet, and the apprentices sat quietly in their seats doing their own things.

Lynn glanced back at the apprentices standing in the last row, then looked away, but couldn't help glancing at Ido one more time.

This young heiress seems to have quite a background and influence; otherwise, she wouldn't have reserved a spot for herself, with so many apprentices standing rather than daring to sit down.

Although Lynn spent most of her time focusing on her own things.

But he had been here for some time, and he gradually gained a deeper understanding of the dog-eat-dog atmosphere of the Demon City.

The strength here refers not only to physical strength, but also to background, tactics, connections, and wealth.

The intermittent coughing echoed in the classroom, the source of which was to my right, occupying the very middle seat in the first row.

Sitting to Lynn's right was a pale-faced, dark-circled, and refined-looking young wizard.

Noticing Dawyn's gaze, the wizard on his right covered his mouth and coughed softly, forcing a kind smile onto his face.

"My grandmother's health has been deteriorating day by day ever since she became a witch, as she often stays up all night."

Watching the refined young wizard speak eloquently.

"My liver is about to give out, but you look so healthy, how do you maintain your health?"

"One hundred push-ups, five hundred squats, and then a ten-kilometer run every day," Lynn casually remarked.

Sitting on the left, Ido couldn't help but roll her eyes when she heard Lynn's boastful words.

This guy is making it up; she's never seen Lynn go for a run.

Unless I'm attending a lecture or running out of lab materials, I basically spend every day in the lab.

The reason she knew this was because once, when Lynn's experiment reached a critical point, Jim was not in Demon City at the time, so Lynn asked Ido to help him purchase some experimental materials.

It was during that visit that she was able to tour Lynn's laboratory.

There was nothing interesting, just cold walls and mechanical experiments.

He gave her the feeling of being like her father.

"Is that so? It's a pity I don't have that much free time," the young wizard next to him said regretfully.

Judging from his regretful expression, he seemed genuinely disappointed about it.

On the podium, spatial ripples flashed.

Then, under everyone's gaze, a woman wearing a long dress and with long, emerald-green hair that reached past her shoulders appeared on the stage. The woman wore an exquisite crown on her head and exuded a rich green natural element.

"My name is Mebetessa, and I am the instructor for this course, 'The Making of Wizard Towers and My Experiences'."

Lynn was startled when he heard the name and stared in shock at the woman on the podium.

If the Abyss Wizarding Academy doesn't have two official wizards named Mebetessa, then the wizard in front of us must be the owner of that giant elven tree.

"Before we begin this lesson on building and sharing wizard towers, let me ask you a question: What is a wizard tower?"

Mebetesa said.

Many apprentices in the classroom raised their hands in unison.

This opportunity to perform and showcase oneself before a formal wizard is not to be missed.

For most apprentices, the most direct contact they will have with wizards in their lifetime is in the classroom at a wizarding academy.

"The Wizard's Tower is the place that holds the truth of wizards."

"The Wizard Tower is a powerful weapon for wizards in war, used to conquer other planes."

"You're both right. The Wizard Tower is essentially a product of the wisdom of wizards. It's just a tool, so there's no need to mythologize it too much," Mebetesa said.

"But have you ever considered how wizards survived before the Wizard's Tower existed?"

Upon hearing Mebetesa's question, the lecture hall fell silent.

Before the Wizard Tower existed... how long ago was that? Did the very first wizards not have Wizard Towers?

Without the Wizard Tower, the wizard's power would hardly have reached its current level.

"I know, it was the wizards of the Third Era who created the Wizard Tower," Ido said, raising her hand.

Mebetesa nodded. "That's right. As we all know, we are now in the Seventh Wizarding Era. There were six eras before the Seventh Wizarding Era. Wizards created the Wizard Tower in the Third Wizarding Era."

"But the existence of Wizard Towers does not mean that wizards did not create similar works. Floating cities, planetary terraforming, and artificial Titans—these large-scale creations still allowed wizards of that era to exert their power to fight beyond their level."

"These are all things made by wizards of that era. Wizard towers are similar achievements. The original wizard towers did not have the wonders they have now. It was through the improvement and creation of generations of wizards that the wizard towers became more and more powerful."

Mebetesa said.

"So the wizard tower was originally a tool created by wizards to fight against and capture enemies."

"If it's a tool, why is there only one Wizard Tower?"

"Because we don't have the money to make a second one," a wizard in the back row said quietly, raising his hand resentfully.

He's still a long way from gathering all the materials for the first wizard tower.

“That makes sense,” Mebetesa said. “So the root cause is that the materials needed to build the Wizard Tower are too many for many of you to afford.”

"I happen to have an opportunity here, an opportunity to become a wizard quickly by saving a lot of resources, but I need you to sign a contract with me, that is, to cooperate with me for one hundred years after you become a formal wizard," Mabel Tessa said.

Lynn leaned back. Was this woman a loan shark?

The apprentices in the classroom were in an uproar. They never expected such a good thing to happen. Some of them widened their eyes in surprise.

"My lord wizard, may I know what kind of opportunity it is?" an apprentice asked impatiently.

Mebetesa smiled slightly and took out a seed from her sleeve, its surface engraved with a large number of complex patterns.

This seed exudes an extremely rich vitality, and the surrounding air even faintly evokes illusions of petals, leaves, and grass.

"The seeds of the Elf Mother Tree subspecies can form the framework and structure of the Wizard Tower. Moreover, the Elf Mother Tree is naturally able to absorb the elemental power of nature, so using it can save a lot of materials."

"My wizard tower was built using a subspecies of the Elf Mother Tree, so there's absolutely no question about whether it can be used as a material for a wizard tower. Many people use metal to build wizard towers, but I can tell you that using living beings as the framework of a wizard tower can also have unexpected effects."

"Mebetesa!"

A dignified shout suddenly rang out in the classroom, the voice coming from the distant void.

Mebetesa, standing on the podium, raised her head and looked fearlessly into the void. "What is it, Master?"

"Everyone has their own path, and you can't use your path to influence other apprentices."

"I simply gave them the right to choose; I didn't interfere with them."

Suddenly, space above the classroom cracked open, and a giant black claw engulfed in raging flames descended from the sky.

Mebetesa smiled. "What is the new road, and what is the old road?"

Lynn was close to the podium, so he could see clearly that when the giant claw, burning with raging flames, fell, the surrounding air rippled with layers of water-like folds.

The space was not broken, but was continuously compressed by some great force, eventually turning into a thin sheet of paper.

The figure standing on the paper is Mebe Tessa, who is standing on the podium.

Mebetesa did not resist or cast any spells from beginning to end.

The giant, blazing claws took Mebetesa away and then disappeared from the spot.

Silence returned to the podium.

The apprentices in the classroom looked at each other in bewilderment. How come the teacher disappeared halfway through the class? Would they get their tuition fees refunded?

And does the seed that the witch Mebetessa mentioned still count?

Not all apprentices can build wizard towers; some find it extremely difficult. Upon hearing Mebetessa's words, he immediately set his sights on what Mebetessa had just said. However, that wizard had already been captured, so where could he possibly find him now?

Lynn looked worried. Owl Night and Mebetessa were partners. Mebetessa's capture shouldn't affect the experiments he was involved in, right? If the materials he had obtained got away, all his work over the past few months would have been for nothing.

"Damn it, she wasted so much of my time. I thought there was some real substance, but it turns out it was just to promote her seed. Cough cough cough." The young man with kidney deficiency sitting next to Lynn coughed laboriously, covering his mouth. Listening to his increasingly heart-wrenching cough, Lynn couldn't help but worry that he might suddenly die at any moment.

"Do you know who that guy sitting to your right was?" Ido asked.

"Who?"

"Kolski is currently the most promising apprentice in Demon City to become a formal wizard," Ido said.

"That's quite a prestigious title," Lynn replied casually.

"Because his wizard tower is almost finished, and that guy is quite famous. He comes from the City of Machines."

When Lynn heard the name Mechanical City, his eyes flickered. Ido continued, "He's also an oddball. Most of the wizards in Mechanical City are alchemists and mechanical immortals, but he has hated machines since he was a child and has always been clamoring for immortality of flesh and blood."

"Later, his father was so angry that he threw him into the Abyss Wizarding Academy. You'll know about his wizarding tower if you've ever seen it; it's definitely not like a regular wizarding tower." Ido shrugged.

"Where is your wizard tower? I've never seen your wizard tower before," Lynn asked.

Ido's lips curled into a smile. "You want to see my wizard tower?"

"curious."

"You'll see it soon enough." Ido walked leisurely beside Lynn with her hands behind her back.

"By the way, do you have time? I'm planning to go to the slave market in the Abyss to see if there are any suitable slaves," Ido asked.

"No." Lynn shook her head.

He's too busy to even go to the abyss.

"Alright." Ido sighed. "It's always so boring. It's like you all spend all your time on the road to seeking the truth. Don't you think the scenery along the way is worth pausing for a moment?"

Lynn didn't know how to answer, so he just silently lowered his head and walked forward, quickening his pace.
