Chapter 85 Reaching the Summit

Chapter 85 Reaching the Summit (Part Two)

Strangely, for some reason, Lynn did not encounter anyone else until he reached the top of the mountain. Apart from the monster lairs that appeared from time to time along the way, Lynn basically swept through them all and cleared out all the monster lairs along the way.

Is it because there aren't many wizard apprentices? I don't think I've killed many myself.

Lynn looked at the exit of the maze ahead, his face full of confusion.

He remembered that the wizard Harlem had mentioned there would be some special competitors, but he hadn't met any yet, perhaps because they weren't on the same track.

Upon reaching the summit, Lynn looked around. He had arrived relatively late, and when he reached the top, a large crowd had already gathered.

The mountaintop was a wide-open plain, larger than he had expected.

In the center stands a grand hall with a strong metallic style.

The palace's exterior walls are made of a special alloy.

At the mountaintop, a large number of people stayed on the summit, while countless others sat on the open ground.

Fortunately, the open space at the top of the mountain was large, and although there were many people, quite a few were standing there.

Lynn looked around curiously and found that there seemed to be quite a lot of people on the mountaintop.

The goblins ranged in number from dozens to hundreds, and were dispersed into various groups.

The different teams were scattered and sitting in different places.

Lynn silently counted; there were at least several hundred teams on the mountaintop.

Assuming each team has at least one wizard apprentice, there must be at least several hundred wizard apprentices on this mountaintop.

The cacophony echoed across the open plain atop the mountain. If a goblin is a sharp-eyed duck, then a flock of goblins is a flock of ducks, and on the mountaintop, Lynn felt as if he were in a duck's nest.

The palace gates remained closed until nightfall, when a wizard in a white robe emerged from them.

The white-robed wizard's face was half covered by a metal skull and the other half by human skin, with eerie blue flames burning in the eye sockets of the metal skull.

"Everyone can take out their points cards." The wizard's voice was not noisy, but very clear, and it clearly spread throughout the entire mountaintop area.

Then the wizard lifted his white robe, and countless dark shadows flew out from beneath it.

In an instant, it soared into the sky, blotting out the sun. The flapping sound echoed through the night. Lynn looked up and saw the dense, swirling black shadows above him, which seemed to have transformed into a metallic storm.

Lynn took out all the papers with points printed on the back from his spatial ring.

The swirling metal storm overhead was already raining down large numbers of dark shadows.

One of them flew towards Lynn, getting closer and closer.

Lynn could see it more clearly as she got closer.

This is a dark blue metallic bat with two wings; it only appeared black because it was too far away.

The metal bat used its lower claws to pick up the paper, then leaped into the sky and merged into the swirling storm above.

"The points have been tallied. Everyone can use their points tokens to redeem items. The list will be announced later," the white-robed wizard said. As soon as he finished speaking, the swirling storm above his head surged into his wide sleeves like waves returning to the sea.

Lynn couldn't help but take a few more glances. No matter how he looked at it, the white-robed wizard's thin body didn't seem like it could hide so many metal bats.

After speaking, the white-robed wizard returned to the palace.

And some wizards also came out of the palace.

Some apprentices rushed over to the wizard upon seeing him.

Lynn spotted Harlin in the crowd at a glance. Harlin came out and waved to Lynn in the distance.

Lynn saw another wizard apprentice approaching Harlin, but Harlin seemed a little impatient. After saying something, the apprentice stood aside.

Lynn quickly led his goblin followers over, and as they got closer, he noticed that the apprentice next to him was looking at him.

"Professor Anglie," Lynn said.

Harlin frowned. "From now on, call me Harlin when we're out in public."

"Yes, Wizard Harlin," Lynn said.

Harlin gave Lynn a deep look. "Whatever."

"You didn't get first place this time," Harlin said to Lynn.

Lynn was not surprised that Harlin knew the answer.

It's normal for formal wizards like them to know more than wizard apprentices.

"I know, it's a bit of a shame. I've found that challenging monster lairs is the slowest way to gain points. The fastest way to get points is still to just snatch them from other wizard apprentices." Lynn said with some regret, as he hadn't encountered any wizard apprentices during the last third of the journey.

Otherwise, if I could have won a few more rounds, my score would definitely have been higher, and I wouldn't have been just fourth place.

Because the points difference between him and the first place is not that big.

It's a bit of a pity about Lynn, but it's not too bad.

Because the first place winner's reward is no different from his, except that he has an extra spot to enter the wizarding faction of the Mechanical City.

Judging from the conversations of the wizarding apprentices around him and the reactions of some wizards present, this Mechanical City should be considered a large force even in the wizarding world.

However, the name sounds rather serious, and this organization, judging from its name, must have made significant achievements in alchemy.

Although Lynn is an alchemist, he does not want to specialize in just one subject.

Lynn was also interested in wizarding disciplines such as bloodline studies and mutation studies.

He might even create his own discipline in the future.

Lynn was curious: if he created a new discipline in the future, would his daily tasks also provide him with knowledge of that new discipline?

If it cannot be provided, does that mean that the knowledge behind that door also has an end, and that it also needs to create new knowledge on its own?

"Hmm, this is your student certificate." Harlin took out a white demon badge from his pocket and handed it to Lynn.

Lynn took the badge and found that it felt a bit like bone.

A sharp pain shot through his fingertip, and a drop of blood fell into the badge. The white demon badge in his hand parted its lips slightly, emitting a low, sinister laugh.

Lynn cautiously released his grip.

"It's just a matter of entering your personal information. From now on, you'll be a student at the Abyss Wizarding Academy," Harlin said.

Is it really that simple?

Lynn looked at the white demon badge in his hand.

"You can carry this badge with you from now on; it will represent your identity. Wearing this badge will also make things much easier when you go to the Abyss," Harlin said.

Upon hearing that going to the Abyss would be much more convenient, Lynn immediately put it away.

"Go check what you can exchange for later. You can exchange for anything that interests you," Harlin said.

After a pause, Harlin added, "If you really don't find anything you like, you can exchange it all for magic stones. Magic stones are a form of hard currency among wizards. After you've exchanged them, we can set off."

"Lord Harlem Wizard, may I join your wizarding faction?"

A wizard apprentice who had been standing nearby for a long time came over, looked at Lynn with envy, and then said to the wizard Harlin.

"You're not qualified," Harlin replied outright.

"But I'm ranked third in points, which is higher than his," the apprentice asked somewhat unwillingly.

Upon hearing this, Harlin simply smiled meaningfully.

"You got third place because your ability is third, while he got fourth place because his points were only enough to get him fourth."

My points are only enough for me to get fourth place?

Upon hearing this, Lynn was instantly stunned. He suddenly realized why he hadn't encountered any other wizard apprentices along the way.

You wizards with thick eyebrows and big eyes are actually involved in shady dealings!

I'll finish the last chapter around midnight tonight.
