Chapter 74 Wizard's Network (Part Two)

Through the information relayed by the iron earthworm, Lynn learned that there were five ripples on the ground in the open area after the corner ahead.

However, Lynn also knew that he had been exposed. The shattering of the illusion made him aware that there were people with malicious intentions ahead, but it also made the five people in front of him aware of his existence.

The five waves represent five people.

The other three turned green upon seeing this. They finally realized how to unlock the chains: they could unlock them as long as the legs were gone.

Lynn summoned a goblin he had subdued from the alchemy lab. "I'll give you a hand signal, then you can go out first. Remember to hide once you're out," Lynn told the goblin.

The goblin, whose name Lynn didn't know, nodded shakily.

Lauren, standing next to Lynn, hesitated for a moment before volunteering, "Master, I can go out too. I'm tough and can take a beating."

"Not yet," Lynn said succinctly.

Lauren nodded quickly, then turned back to keep an eye on what was behind him. In this maze, he had to be careful not only about what was in front of him but also about what was behind him.

After preparing a new spell, Lynn gave the goblin a look.

He understood perfectly, covered his head, and rushed out.

An arrow flew fiercely from around the corner.

Following closely behind was a churning mass of acid.

The goblin's shoulder slumped, and the flying arrow struck its arm precisely, causing it to stumble and fall to the ground.

The acid flew a distance and landed on an open ground not far away.

Lynn turned and went out, casting a Lesser Fireball spell at the last wizard apprentice.

The last apprentice, bound by the Earth Ring spell, became a perfect target.

Turned to ashes in a brilliant explosion of flames.

With no more wizard apprentices left, only two followers remained.

The swordsman was still struggling. A thin layer of energy covered the surface of his longsword. He swung the sword and kept cutting the chains on his feet, managing to cut some small nicks.

But judging from the thickness of the chains, they were still a constraint he couldn't break free from anytime soon.

The wounded goblin, clutching his arm from which an arrow was lodged, slowly walked over.

"Not bad." Lynn tossed another Goblin Engineer's Legacy Token to the goblin.

This is the reward it deserves.

The archer was about to continue shooting when an iron earthworm emerged from the ground and swallowed his body whole.

Lynn thought the combination of Earth Ring and Iron Earthworm seemed like a pretty good tactic.

Lynn's gaze fell on the last swordsman.

This swordsman must have been quite old, appearing to be close to forty. He had a thick beard around his cheeks, a robust build, and wore rather exquisite leather armor. His gaze was calm and composed.

Noticing Lynn's gaze, the swordsman stopped his futile movements.

There was no fear in his brown eyes.

"Please let me choose a dignified way to die," the swordsman said calmly.

"Okay." Lynn did not refuse and stood behind Lauren.

The swordsman held his longsword level and aimed it at his own neck.

A splash of blood appeared, and the swordsman fell.

These followers, whose entire families reside in the noble's territory and have been carefully trained as servants since childhood, are not necessarily unparalleled in their loyalty to the noble, but they are unlikely to defect under normal circumstances.

Looking at the corpses scattered on the ground, Lynn felt that something was missing. Looking around, Lynn suddenly realized that he had not yet seen their goblins.

The three wizard apprentices should have at least three goblins. Even if something unexpected happened along the way, they couldn't all have died, unless they had spatial items that could carry goblins.

Lynn squinted as he examined the bodies of the three wizard apprentices.

He made the iron earthworm vomit up the corpse of the wizard apprentice it had swallowed.

The slimy corpse fell to the ground.

"Go and loot the corpse, and take all the ornaments and miscellaneous items," Lynn said to Lauren and the wounded goblin.

Lynn turned to look to the side, where there was an entrance.

That should be the monster's lair.

It's estimated that these people were either preparing to explore the monster's lair, or had already finished exploring and had just come out when they bumped into their own phantom.

Lynn instructed the iron earthworms to continue burrowing underground. Iron earthworms can sense ground vibrations, and footsteps are easily detected by them.
