Chapter 6 The Staff
Chapter 6 The Staff (Part Two)
Lynn looked down at the staff, where a cluster of eerie purple light was gathering at the top.
It even comes with its own indicator function, but it's too obvious and not suitable for an upright person like myself.
Lynn sighed inwardly, thinking that if he could make a staff for himself in the future, he would definitely make one that could conceal vibrations and light effects.
Which honest wizard would light up an indicator light before making a move?
Lynn walked to the window, took two steps back, and disappeared into the darkness.
Finding the right angle, Lynn raised her staff and aimed it at the people near the gate in the courtyard.
The next moment, the staff in his hand activated.
With a surge of magical energy, a purple light emanated from the tip of the staff.
A large number of elements in the air fluctuated and converged, quickly condensing into a huge, purplish-black liquid the size of a basketball.
Is this definitely just a zero-circle spell?
Lynn was somewhat surprised; the acid missile was larger than he had imagined. He had thought it would be only the size of a bullet, or at most the size of an apple.
The result was that it was as big as a basketball, and the visual effect alone was quite eye-catching.
Once the enemy is identified, a thought arises.
The acid missiles were launched at a speed comparable to that of an arrow.
Given the close proximity, they landed in the area behind the courtyard where the town's security team was located in an instant.
Unfortunately, Lynn didn't control the distance well, and the acid missile hit slightly off-center.
He had originally aimed at the knight, but this time his aim was slightly off.
It flew past the knight's right arm.
Matthew reacted quickly; the intense training he received from the Knights had honed his reflexes to an excellent level. He drew his broadsword and swung it like a straw, easily cleaving the unidentified flying object in two.
No matter what it is, don't even think about it—
The acid missile was sliced open in an instant, like a water-filled balloon.
As the sword cleaved through the air, and feeling the strange impact from the broadsword, Matthew had a vague feeling that he had made a wrong decision.
The acid missile exploded with a bang.
Numerous water droplets scattered and splashed in all directions.
Matthew closed his eyes, and suddenly thrust his broadsword horizontally to cover his face.
Lynn knew that this was a characteristic of acid missiles; when they encountered obstacles or were damaged by external forces, the acid missiles would explode, causing secondary damage.
In an instant, everyone around became the target of the acid missile attack.
The large amount of acid spread, drenching the group of people like a rain shower.
Sizzle~
The acid dripped onto the leather armor, making a hissing sound and emitting pungent white smoke.
A large hole was quickly splattered into the leather armor.
These acids are extremely corrosive.
The acid that landed on leather armor was relatively harmless; some of it landed on exposed skin, corroding the flesh and revealing gruesome remains.
The person in pain was rolling on the ground in agony.
This is different from the frost magic trap we just encountered; the biting cold of the frost has a certain analgesic effect.
The pain from acid corrosion is unbearable.
Knight Matthew witnessed a drop of acid, no bigger than a walnut, fall onto the face of an ordinary person standing nearby.
In the blink of an eye, like a drop of black ink on white paper, the black ink quickly seeped and spread, corroding a large hole in his face. The man collapsed to the ground, convulsing, clearly beyond saving. All his facial features had been completely corroded away, leaving only a large, dark hole; even much of the bone inside had been corroded.
Just then, the blade of the broadsword in his hand fell off with a thud.
The broadsword had blocked the acid flying towards him, but the acid had also corroded the broadsword, leaving only an empty hilt and a broken blade extending less than two or three centimeters from the hilt.
Matthew's expression changed slightly.
This thing is incredibly corrosive; what on earth is it?
According to intelligence, there might be a wizard hiding here, but he's dealt with wizards before; they're just a bunch of pretentious charlatans.
Although he knows some minor magic tricks, they are basically powerless, and he is no different from the magicians who perform acrobatics in the circus.
Could this not be magic, but rather a new type of alchemical achievement created by alchemists?
Just as Matthew was in shock, his head suddenly felt heavy, as if someone had hit him hard in the head with a sledgehammer!
My head was spinning, I felt dizzy and disoriented, and everything in front of me became blurry, as if the world was spinning around me. I could not even control my own body.
Oh no! We've been ambushed!
Matthew had no idea how he was ambushed.
Behind a second-floor window not far away, Lynn, hidden in the darkness, watched the knight staggering in place, struggling to maintain his balance.
The power of the spells was greater than he had imagined; even a zero-ring spell was this powerful.
It seems I underestimated the strength of the wizard and overestimated the knight.
Lynn raised his staff and aimed it at Matthew.
A cloud of acid missiles gradually condensed.
Under the cover of night, he accurately struck the knight who was staggering in place after being hit by a mental shock.
Having learned from the first experience, Lynn shot very accurately the second time.
The acid hit Matthew's head.
Matthew convulsed and rolled on the ground, seemingly no different from ordinary people who had been poisoned by acid.
The only difference is that he persisted a little longer.
It lasted for several more seconds before the convulsions stopped. The iron armor covering its entire body was mostly corroded, and the remaining corpse was pitted and corroded in many places.
After casting three spells in succession, Lynn felt his legs go weak. It seems he should be careful not to deplete his mental energy so easily in the future.
He still has enough mental energy left to cast one spell.
Casting four zero-ring spells in quick succession is roughly my current limit.
Lynn looked at the group of people lying near the courtyard gate.
Not everyone fell to the ground; four people remained standing.
Some were too far away, while others were blocked by acid missiles that missed their exposed body parts, or by other comrades acting as human shields.
Seeing Matthew fall, the rest of the group looked at each other in bewilderment.
The four people who were still standing immediately scattered and fled down the mountain.
Only one person can remain at a time, unless someone is willing to shatter the acid missile, like that kind knight just now.
While Lynn was thinking, the four people had already run quite a distance.
Even if the acid missile explodes, it might not be enough to kill four people now.
Lynn gave up on the idea.
Seeing that everyone behind him was dead, the hunter turned and retreated.
Upon seeing this, the hunter dared not enter the house any further.
To him, the wooden house was a terrifying den of demons.
The hunter slowly retreated.
Lynn's eyes gleamed. He had one last chance to cast a spell, and he wasn't going to waste it. He had heard the hunter's voice leading the way from afar.
"Acid missiles".
Finally, he raised his staff.
The hunter tried to dodge, but he was too close and was hit head-on by the acid missile.
A living person was completely corroded right in front of Lynn, leaving not even bones behind.
