Chapter 45 The New Potion (Part 1)

Back home, Lynn entered the alchemy lab.

Lynn looked at the glowing mushrooms on the lab table; there was only enough for the final experiment. "We're running out of raw materials."

Lynn frowned. Borg had been buying up Glowing Mushrooms from pharmacies of all sizes in Bangor Harbor, almost emptying the pharmacies' stock. Many pharmacies had even taken the opportunity to raise the price of Glowing Mushrooms significantly.

He skillfully spent an hour preparing the potion. As his potion-making proficiency improved, the experiment that originally took two hours to complete now only takes about half the time.

"Daily task completed: Experiment (1) - Complete an experiment of very low difficulty."

"Completion level: Good (︾)"

"Reward: 20 general experience points, 2% progress in Mutology knowledge."

Good? Lynn raised an eyebrow.

Lynn looked at the completion rating that appeared in the corner of his cornea and was somewhat surprised, as this was the first time he had received a good rating.

What is the reason?

Upon opening the extended section following the positive review, Lynn discovered that she had only made two minor mistakes this time, one of which involved a certain piece of material.

"That must be related to the efficiency of the experiment?" Lynn guessed to himself.

Looking at the bottle of reagent in his hand, Lynn took out a thorn seed from the box next to him.

When you drop the seeds into the reagent, as the thorn seeds sink to the bottom of the reagent bottle, tiny bubbles rise to the surface.

Then Lynn placed the reagent bottle on the stand and fixed it in place. Generally, it takes at least half a day to complete the mutation.

Plant seeds mutate faster than animal seeds.

Lynn cleaned the lab table and came out of the room.

Lynn went down to the next room and entered the next house.

As soon as they reached the neighboring yard, Lauren came out of the house.

"I hope I didn't bother you," Lynn said.

"No, Bova is already asleep," Lauren said with a simple smile.

Since Lauren went to see Beauva in person last time, and no one knows what the couple talked about, Beauva moved in with Lauren.

Just as she said, even though Lauren has become like this, she doesn't feel disgusted at all.

"If your wife is free tomorrow, could she help you buy some medicinal herbs?" Lynn asked.

"Bova has always been very grateful to you, Master, she certainly won't refuse," Lauren said.

"Besides these, there are seven other medicinal herbs and ores you can check if you can buy them," Lynn said, listing a few more materials.

As knowledge of mutations continued to advance, Lynn was able to create several more potions.

Our understanding of mutation is constantly deepening, but many of the materials for new drugs are quite rare.

Lynn compared the ingredients one by one in the plant encyclopedia and found that some of the medicinal materials were available in the Kingdom of Erdoru, but with different names. However, most of the materials were still nowhere to be found.

There are two kinds of medicines that can be made.

The first type is a mutated mental strength recovery potion.

It can restore a large amount of mental energy in a short time after taking it.

However, there are also drawbacks, namely that you can only take one bottle at most in a short period of time, otherwise you will experience body aches, dizziness, and strong side effects.

The core material required is a flower called the Blue King Flower, but it is extremely rare.

The second type is meditation to accelerate mutation.

Taking it can make your mind clearer and slightly increase the efficiency of meditation.

However, it is mildly addictive and requires a metal ore called Silver Seed Ore.

This silver ore is known locally in the Kingdom of Erdor as "fake silver ore" because its appearance is very similar to that of silver.

Therefore, many locals use it to impersonate silver. However, compared to real silver, this fake silver ore cannot be dissolved in water. As soon as it gets wet, it becomes very soft, which is why it is easy to detect later.

Both of these medications are good, but why do they both have side effects?

Is it because these are all mutated drugs?

It would be best if the side effects could be eliminated.

Lynn thought it wasn't impossible. Since it was a mutation drug that could produce side effects, it could also eliminate those side effects. They just needed to deduce the drug in the opposite direction.

Go back to the bedroom to rest.

Early the next morning.

Lynn took out the reagent bottle, and almost all the liquid inside had disappeared.

Only one black seed remained at the bottom of the bottle.

Lynn poured out the seeds.

Then, holding the seed in your palm, activate the Thorn Whip spell.

When the Whip of Thorns was activated, a crack appeared in the black seed in his hand, and the next moment, a slender thorn vine extended out from the crack.

As mental energy was continuously injected into the spell's framework, the length of the thorn whip continued to extend, eventually reaching a length of nearly ten meters before reaching its limit.

Under Lynn's control, the thorny vines slithered and weaved through the air like venomous snakes, acting as another arm.

This seed is good, much more skillful than the other seeds from the past few days. Lynn finds it very easy to use. He has made quite a few seeds in the past two weeks, and the feedback from the previous seeds was somewhat awkward.

This seed, on the other hand, has none of that awkwardness and is extremely flexible to handle.

The spellbook of the Thorn Whip mentions that ordinary seeds are more difficult to manipulate with spells.

However, if the seed contains extraordinary power, it can be manipulated very flexibly.

Because this spell essentially activates the power contained within the seed.

Ordinary seeds do not contain enough power. Forcibly activating them can easily damage the seed's foundation, and the resulting thorny vines will not be strong enough.

However, this drawback does not exist for extraordinary seeds.

So, judging from the feel of manipulating it, this seed has successfully mutated?

It's unclear exactly what aspect of the mutation it is.

Lynn then conducted several more tests, including tests on flexibility, healing speed, toughness, the hardness of the thorns, and other special abilities.

In terms of flexibility and toughness, it is only average, slightly better than normal thorns, and far from meeting the standards of an extraordinary seed.

Besides, the thorns that grow on the brambles are quite hard, and can even leave a white mark on iron.

Finally, there's the special ability. Through experiments on mice, Lynn discovered that the thorns activated by this thorn seed have a paralyzing effect.

It just has some slightly overlapping effects.

Lynn pondered, realizing he possessed the spells of Sleep and Mental Shock.

The paralyzing effect of the thorn seeds is slightly similar to the spells I have mastered.

However, it's not a big problem. This thorny whip can be regarded as an "area attack," and its attack range can be regarded as a group attack.

The other two spells are single-target control spells, so they are not entirely duplicates.
