Chapter 175 Plague
Chapter 175 The Plague (Part Two)
The white-clad gentleman hesitated for a moment, then said, "Sir, do you need my help to resolve the Earl's troubles?"
"The Earl? Trouble?" Lynn turned his head, looking at the white-clad gentleman with a puzzled expression. "Why don't I just crush the Earl to death?"
The white gentleman's expression froze.
He hadn't expected the person in front of him to be such a madman. "But...but the title of Earl was bestowed by the royal family, and Bangor Port pays very high taxes every year. If the Earl dies, the royal family will definitely investigate."
“No, the royal family of Erdoru should pray that this has nothing to do with them,” Lynn said sternly. “They had better pray that it really has nothing to do with them!”
The white gentleman froze, his throat bobbing as he swallowed.
He looked at Lynn with awe.
In his eyes, Lynn had become someone who could not be offended at all.
"It shouldn't have anything to do with the royal family. After all, it was the royal family's subjects who died. The royal family has no reason to release a plague within their own kingdom," the white gentleman said.
"Hmm, take me to the Earl's house. By the way, wasn't the port Viscount Borent? When did it become an Earl?" Lynn suddenly asked.
"It is the newly appointed Earl of Ford by the Kingdom. The Borent family's territory has been replaced with other places in the Kingdom's interior," the white gentleman said.
"Oh, it seems they've changed it." Lynn nodded.
But that doesn't seem so strange.
After losing the protection of the sea god, and with no members of the family ever becoming wizards, the Borent family was left without anyone to lead them. It was not particularly surprising that the once prosperous Bangor Port was shut down.
"Then take me to the Ford family."
Lynn said calmly.
The white gentleman led the way.
The two soon arrived at the Ford family's territory.
It was indeed the same garden of the Borent family, but now it had been doubled in size. A count's family estate was naturally much more magnificent than that of a viscount.
Lynn watched this scene without any particular feeling.
Lynn pondered, feeling that something was amiss.
Suddenly, Lynn seemed to have thought of something.
Lynn looked down at the territory below.
With a slight flicker in his eyes, Lynn appeared in a detached villa belonging to the Ford family.
"Who is it?!" The red-haired man, who was meditating on the second floor, opened his eyes and looked downstairs warily.
The next moment, a terrifying spiritual force enveloped him. Feeling this godlike spiritual force, the red-haired man's face instantly turned pale.
"Oh, I surrender, I surrender, don't kill me." The red-haired man decisively raised his hands and knelt on the ground.
"Are you from the Ford family?" Lynn asked.
"Yes, I am from the Ford family. One of our elders became a formal wizard on the Wizarding Continent," the red-haired man said.
Lynn appeared in front of the red-haired man. The red-haired man looked at Lynn flying in the air and his face turned a little pale. When he saw the wizard's robe on Lynn's body and recalled the terrifying mental power he had just witnessed, the red-haired man's mind went blank for a moment. This was actually a wizard!
With such powerful mental strength, he must be a formal wizard!
If I see his face, will I be silenced?
"I heard your people are investigating me. There's no need for that. I came here myself." Lynn sat on the only chair in the room.
Hearing Lynn's words, the red-haired man was stunned. His own family was investigating him?
I haven't heard of anyone worth investigating recently. Could it be that my subordinates acted on their own?
"I'll handle it right away." The red-haired man was very clever. He had just sensed Lynn's terrifying mental power and knew that the other party could kill him without even letting him see his face.
Since the other party didn't kill me directly, it means that I must be useful to them.
So the red-haired man obediently took the initiative to speak.
Instead of waiting for the other person to speak, it's better to take the initiative yourself; this will leave a good impression.
"Yes, I don't want anything like this to happen again. Next time it won't be so simple." Lynn then tossed over a bottle of potion. "Drink it yourself."
The red-haired man's face turned pale as he looked at the green liquid in front of him, which was still bubbling and being knocked into the bottle.
"I'll drink it," the red-haired man said decisively.
Unscrew the bottle cap and smell the pungent odor.
The red-haired man couldn't help but close his eyes.
He cursed inwardly, "What the hell is this thing that's fallen to the ground?"
It smells awful.
He thought of something, then closed his eyes and drank it all in one gulp.
Then he felt his head become cool, as if it contained something cool.
Mental energy also seems to be active.
The red-haired man opened his eyes, a hint of doubt in them.
Huh, what's this?
Lynn glanced at him furtively, and Lynn said calmly, "You drink first."
The red-haired man quickly began meditating.
As the red-haired man began to meditate, the mental power in his mind continued to grow.
In a short while, his mental energy began to expand.
The next moment, I felt a sharp pain in my head, as if something was trying to crawl out.
With a muffled groan, the red-haired man was horrified to discover that scales had grown on his arm.
"What is this?!"
"Bloodline potions, something you don't usually have access to, can extend your life by at least two hundred years," Lynn said calmly.
The red-haired man's eyes lit up.
"Don't investigate things that shouldn't be investigated." Lynn glanced at him.
The red-haired man quickly lowered his head.
"Understood!" He now understood what the mysterious being before him meant.
"Stop crying!" A burly man sternly reprimanded the two toddlers in the room.
The man was covered in thick clothes, his body was covered in blisters, and his face was covered in thick scars from festering and regrowing wounds.
Behind him, two toddlers, also covered in blisters, looked pitifully at the man.
"Damn it, two burdens," the man cursed.
He cursed as he threw the two rabbits from his bag onto the ground.
"Go, skin me alive."
The two children who were sitting on the bed quickly rolled off and ran to the two rabbits on the ground. Judging from their movements, they seemed quite skilled at handling the rabbits.
"Was there ever a plague outbreak here?" A cold voice came from inside the room.
"Who!?" The man turned around abruptly, and the next moment a fierce glint flashed in his eyes as he raised the long fork in his hand and stabbed at Lynn.
As Lynn frowned, the man was horrified to discover that he could no longer grip the fork in his hand. In mid-air, the fork seemed to be held by an invisible hand, unable to move.
"I don't want to ask a second time. If you lie to me again, I'll just pick one of these two kids and kill it," Lynn said coldly.
Upon hearing this, the man laughed loudly, "I wish they were dead, how could I possibly protect them? I'd be happy if you killed them."
"Oh? Then why do you bring rabbits to feed them? You can eat your fill by yourself, why bring two burdens? Wouldn't you be able to eat more by yourself?" Lynn said casually.
The man's face stiffened.
"I just don't want them to starve to death in my house; it's bad luck." The man's voice was clearly weak when he said this.
"Has there been a plague outbreak here?" Lynn asked.
"We had an outbreak of plague here." The man looked up at Lynn.
"Where are the other people in the village?" When Lynn arrived, he found that apart from this family, there was no one else in the village.
This seems a bit strange.
"They're all dead." A hint of sadness flickered in the man's eyes as he spoke of the rest of the village.
"It's all because of these two burdensome children's parents. They insisted on going up the mountain to be assistants to those wizards, and when they came back, they contracted the plague," the man said, pointing at the two children and cursing.
Wizard Plague
It seems the plague here really was man-made.
Do you know the whereabouts of those wizards?
"I don't know." The man paused for a moment, "but I suggest you don't eat any animals near the village. This plague can infect not only people, but also animals. If you eat an infected animal, you will also get infected with the plague."
"You'd better leave as soon as possible; if you stay here too long, you might catch the plague."
"Oh, you actually reminded me."
"Hmph, I just don't want you to get infected with the plague and then go out and infect more people."
"That's what the man said."
"But that's strange, wasn't this place sealed off? How did you get in?" the man asked.
Since the outbreak of the plague, the village and several nearby villages have been placed under lockdown, and people are not allowed to leave.
I heard that anyone who tried to sneak away was killed.
People from outside aren't allowed in either, in an attempt to keep the plague contained here, perhaps hoping they'll all die from it.
The man smiled bitterly as he thought about this.
He didn't know how much longer he had to live.
Because he could feel his health deteriorating day by day.
Perhaps I will die in another month or two.
And these two little guys too.
The man turned to look at the two children.
If they die before me, I can at least dig a grave for them and bury them.
If I die before them, then no one will even help them dig their graves.
Thinking of this, a self-deprecating smile appeared on the man's lips.
"What's your relationship with those wizards who developed the plague?" The man suddenly gripped the fork in his hand tightly.
"It's alright," Lynn said calmly. "I just need to borrow some of your blood."
Lynn took out a syringe, as if by magic, and suddenly another syringe appeared in his hand. Then he started drawing blood from the man's wrist. As the blood was continuously drawn, the man's face turned pale.
Then Lynn left the room.
Before leaving, Lynn left a bag of cakes on the ground.
"Uncle, what is this?" the child asked curiously.
"Cake." The man's tone was complicated; he hadn't even seen how the other man had taken these things out.
It's obviously something wrong.
And these cakes
"Yay! It's a cake! I've only heard that there's a cake shop in town with lots of delicious cakes, but cakes are too expensive, and Grandpa has never bought me one."
One of the children shouted happily.
"Hey, you brat, aren't you afraid it's poisonous?"
"I'm already infected with the plague, so what's there to be afraid of? Even if it's poisonous, I'll still eat it," the child said stubbornly, raising his head proudly.
