Chapter 172 Hometown
Chapter 172 Hometown (Part 1)
After giving his instructions, Lynn stayed on the ship for a while, mainly taking out the nautical charts to observe the route back.
After finishing the experiment that day, Lynn put down the thick black coffee in his hand.
It wasn't a restaurant yet; there were very few diners and almost no customers.
Lynn tapped the table lightly with her knuckles.
bang~
A flash of blue light appeared, and a Bakhoff sprite appeared on the table.
"Hey, long time no see!" The Bakhov sprite in the restaurant floated up and mustered up the courage to land in front of Lynn.
"Have I seen you before?" The little sprite Bakhoff fluttered its tiny wings, approached Lynn, and asked curiously, bringing its head very close.
Lynn looked at the little elf in front of him, a slight smile playing on his lips, and reached out a large hand to land on the elf's head.
A hand, larger than its head, gently stroked its soft green fur.
The little elf Bakhov looked at Lynn with his sparkling eyes.
"Perhaps we met a long time ago," Lynn said.
"A long time ago... I remember now!" the Bakhoff sprite exclaimed in surprise. "You were that little apprentice back then."
It remembered that it was during the last time it sailed out to sea, or the time before that, that it had seen Lynn.
Back then, Lynn was just a junior apprentice who had boarded the ship, but now he is the most distinguished wizard on board!
"Your favorite food, I think it's twice-cooked pork, right? It's called twice-cooked pork, what a strange name." The little elf Bakhoff suddenly clapped his hands and said proudly, "I never make a mistake when it comes to food."
"Is there any today?" Lynn found an empty seat and sat down. Because he was in the restaurant, no other apprentice dared to eat with him at the same time.
After all, they basically know nothing about this wizard's temperament. What if he's the kind of person who's unpredictable and might think it's impolite to eat together with them, and then kill them all?
There are too many reasons for accidents to happen on this sea: psionic storms, deep-sea races, ocean behemoths, and wandering ghost ships.
These apprentices returning home were all losers who had left the Wizarding Continent, and no one would care about their conflict with a formal wizard.
"Of course," said the Bakhoff sprite. "It's available whenever the wizard wants to eat it."
"I remember it was only available for a limited time back then," Lynn chuckled.
"Ahem... Well, you also said it was around that time," the little sprite Bakhoff stammered.
The sound of billiards came from the kitchen next door, and a golden spatula flew out.
There's a mouth on the handle of this spatula. "Welcome to the restaurant, great wizard! Oh, we just caught some red-clawed shrimp during our voyage a while ago. We bought a lot of supplies at the dock before setting off. You're in for a treat, wizard!"
"You shameful thing, you can't even entertain a wizard properly," the Golden Shovel said fiercely to the Bakhoff elf.
"Alright, I didn't mean to blame you." Lynn waved his hand.
He knew that the golden shovel, though seemingly fierce, was actually a way to find a reasonable explanation for coming out.
"Yes, Your Excellency Wizard, I'll go prepare your food." The Bakhoff sprite shrank his neck and vanished in a flash.
Soon after, a dish of fresh twice-cooked pork, though not very authentic, was brought to the table by the little elf.
"Your skills have improved," Lynn said with a smile.
"Thank you for the compliment. After you taught me how to do it last time, I tried it several more times. I'm a perfectionist little Bakhoff!" The little Bakhoff proudly raised his neck.
After a moment's hesitation, Lynn gently patted the elf's head.
"Would you like to leave with me?"
"Where to?"
"Go to my wizard tower and cook for me. You won't be that busy," Lynn said.
"No, that won't do! This is my home, how can I leave? I have so many friends here, I'll be so sad if I leave." The Bakhoff elf shook his head. "If you want more, just ask me, I'll make it for you again. Please don't take me away, Wizard." The Bakhoff elf said pitifully.
It seemed to know that Lynn had the right to forcibly take it away.
Lynn was silent for a moment, then gently stroked its head. "Don't worry, I won't take you away from your home."
Seagulls circled over Bangor Harbor.
A small boat slowly approached the harbor in the glow of the setting sun.
Lynn, dressed in a long robe, stood on the land of Bangor Harbor, looking at the port in front of him, his expression somewhat dazed.
The evening breeze was cool, and Lynn felt the cool breeze blowing.
Compared to the two decades before he left, Bangor Port seems to have remained largely unchanged.
Everything looks just as it did back then.
As dusk approached, Lynn carried his belongings to the place where he had left years ago.
More than twenty years have passed, and many of the houses on the street seem unchanged, except that some moss has grown at the base of the originally new brick walls.
Bangor Port is bigger than before. The port city has become more prosperous in the past two decades, and what was once a new district has now become an old residential area.
Following the shadow of the setting sun, Lynn arrived at the tailor shop.
Looking at the familiar sign, Lynn felt a little dazed.
The tailor shop was open, and customers were coming and going in a steady stream.
Inside the shop, a busy figure was looking down when suddenly, as if sensing something, the figure turned to look outside the shop while talking.
His gaze froze at that moment.
"Sir, sir, I'm going to design this outfit like this, with more green at the neckline. You know, I've always liked green, I love this color."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Esther, I might have something to attend to right now," Borg said, his voice trembling.
Mr. Esther paused for a moment, then scratched his head in confusion.
However, he had known the tailor Borg for almost ten years, and although their relationship was usually that of customer and tailor.
However, the two have actually become good friends over the years.
This was the first time he had ever seen Borg with such an expression.
"I'll contact you later. Come back tomorrow, and I'll give you the best discount." After saying that, Borg hurriedly put down the measuring tape in his hand.
Borg looked out the door, his eyes fixed on the figure standing on the opposite street, as if worried that it was just his imagination and that the figure would disappear if he wasn't careful.
A hint of doubt flashed in Esther's eyes as she looked at the distraught Borg.
He looked in the direction Borg was running and saw Borg run across the street and hug a man.
"Oh my god, does the tailor Borg have such a hobby?" Esther covered her mouth in shock.
He felt he might have discovered some big secret. He had known Borg for so many years, and since Borg's mother passed away last year, Borg's family had only a younger sister and a seriously ill father. He knew almost all of Borg's family members, and he had never seen this man before, especially one who looked like a very handsome young man.
