Chapter 12 The Journey
Chapter 12 The Journey (Part Two)
"Alright, goodbye, young man." Lynn waved to the little boy.
The startled little boy raised his right hand and waved, "Goodbye, sir."
Old Kim had already driven the carriage outside the yard.
Teacher Anglie also came down from upstairs and boarded the carriage outside the courtyard.
Lynn boarded the carriage and continued his journey south.
In fact, the story Lynn just told the boy was true.
During my journey south, I did experience some things that were beyond my previous understanding.
However, these extraordinary beings do not seem to have the powerful abilities described in those legends, at least not as strong as their teacher.
So far, Anglie is the most formidable person Lynn has ever met.
For example, there's a monster with three heads and five arms. On the side of its neck, there's another head, and at the same time, there's a woman's head hanging on its chest.
The body was like a toy pieced together haphazardly, with several arms growing out of disarray.
That monster was only slightly stronger than an ordinary person, had a better recovery ability, and was more durable.
However, because of its terrifying appearance and the fact that it was transformed from a dead person, the psychological fear it evoked far outweighed its actual combat power.
The fleeing refugees dared not attack the monster. At the time, an old man kept muttering that it must be a monster created by a witch, and that attacking it would incur the witch's curse.
Finally, some of the braver men in the refugee group used long sticks to drive the monster away.
Soon after, a cavalry unit on horseback arrived and, wielding lances and short swords, slayed all the monsters.
These cavalrymen were knights of a nearby lord, arrogant and domineering. Several beautiful girls in the refugee group were easily abducted by the knights like sheep.
Apart from the families of those girls crying and wailing, everyone else could only be thankful that the knight hadn't chosen their family members.
As the domestic situation continued to deteriorate, these nobles became increasingly arrogant.
Lynn was also relieved at the time, because when the knights came, her father skillfully made his sister put on a hat, then smeared dust on her face, and had several adults surround her to cover her up.
Thinking of this, Lynn couldn't help but think of his family.
I don't know if they made it to Bangor Port safely.
Lynn looked south.
That was the place he and his family had agreed to go.
If all goes well, three months should be enough time for them to arrive.
Perhaps he even found a job in Bangor.
I rented a place to live.
They'll be so surprised and delighted if I show up in front of them.
Lynn couldn't help but smile.
Bangor Port was the first port to open in the kingdom, and it is also the wealthiest and most advanced place in the kingdom.
At that time, many of the goods in the town were said to have been imported and transported from the port of Bangor.
Lynn knew that places as prosperous and wealthy as this must also be accompanied by filth and darkness.
But those are things for the rich. For ordinary people like them, as long as they have something to eat and can survive, that's enough.
As for wealth, it's something too far removed from their lives.
Horseshoes made a crisp sound as they stepped on the dirt road.
Lynn sat in the car, leaning against the window.
I turned my head and looked at the teacher with her eyes closed. She must be meditating again.
No wonder the teacher is so amazing; he's always either doing experiments or meditating. Are all wizards like this?
"Teacher, you haven't had breakfast yet, this is what I saved for you."
Lynn took a white bread out of his pocket and handed it to him.
"I'm not hungry," Anglie said calmly, opening his eyes and glancing at the bread in front of him.
"Okay." Lynn put the bread back.
He knew his teacher's personality; he didn't like to repeat himself.
With the bread tucked into his arms, Lynn took out the Alchemy Diary and continued to read its contents with great interest.
Anglie, who had closed his eyes, opened them a crack and glanced at Lynn beside him, watching the boy's hard work.
Anglie seemed to recall something, stared for a moment, and then looked away.
"Sir Matthew hasn't returned yet?" Baron Delin XVI asked his steward at Baron Delin's castle.
"No, we haven't heard from Sir Matthew since he took half of the town's sheriffs up the mountain the night before last," the butler said.
Baron Delin frowned; this Knight Matthew was from the Duchy of Luminous.
He wouldn't care too much if he were just a knight.
His territory housed hundreds of musketeers; even a knight would be riddled with bullets if fired in volleys from dozens or hundreds of muskets side by side.
The real problem is Matthew's identity; the Duchy of Lush Tail is not too far from his territory.
After Matthew the Knight arrived, he conducted a large-scale search in the town, seemingly looking for something.
The night before last, he even brought the town's security officer up the mountain.
They never returned.
"Master, I have already sent people to search the mountain, and we should have a reply by today at the latest."
"Hmm." Baron Delin nodded, his brows furrowing slightly, still somewhat uneasy.
A knight and a dozen sheriffs armed with muskets—such a force is certainly not weak, even in the mountain forest.
They managed to disappear without a trace.
It is absolutely very dangerous.
"Baron, Baron!" came a loud shout from outside the door.
"Master, these are the people who went to search the mountain," the butler said, then turned to look at the blond-haired, freckled man before him. "Tell the master what you found."
"Your Excellency, I have found the bodies of the Knight and the others on the mountain."
"What did you say? They're all dead?" Baron Delin exclaimed in shock and anger.
He was terrified and didn't know what had happened.
All he knew was that his people were dead.
So many people died at once, including a formal knight who had passed the knight's trial.
Delin said, "Prepare the carriage. I'm going to the duchy to report what has happened here to Duke Luminosa."
What happened here was very serious, and Delin decided to report it. He had to find the source of the danger on the mountain; otherwise, it was far too unsafe for him to live here!
The journey continued peacefully for the next few days.
Over the past few days, Lynn has almost finished reading all the contents of the notebook that his teacher gave him.
The gains were also quite substantial, with the progress in mutation studies increasing from 3% to 7%.
The knowledge he learned greatly inspired Lynn and made him eager to try it out. Although it was only 7% of Level 1 Mutation, a small portion of the knowledge was complete and systematic.
Especially the section on mutation catalysis mentioned therein.
Mutation catalysis refers to the fact that many organisms have a certain probability of giving birth to mutated individuals.
These mutated individuals are often those who have awakened their latent bloodline.
This mutation is not necessarily a benign mutation; there is a high probability that it is a malignant mutation.
However, in the end, mutated individuals are very specific and have research value. Therefore, mutation catalysis refers to catalyzing organisms through artificial methods to induce mutations. Theoretically, the younger the individual, the more likely it is to mutate.
However, one of the agents in this mutation catalysis method is a bodily activity activator.
This drug makes the body of a living organism more active and more prone to mutation.
In Lynn's understanding, could this physical activity be the same as cellular activity?
This potion seems to have other uses as well.
If the body becomes more active, will the physical training effect also become better?
There are many ways to enhance the physical body in wizarding, including the mutation science knowledge I have learned so far, which mentions using the mutated bloodlines of certain creatures to create potions that permanently enhance physical strength.
This method of taking it is a one-time solution, and doesn't even require step-by-step, strenuous training.
If there are enough materials, they can even be mass-produced.
For a wizard, it would be better to use that time to learn more knowledge rather than to spend the energy training his body like a knight.
