Chapter 1 Wizard
Chapter 1 The Wizard (Part 1)
"Take care of the magic herbs in the apothecary later, and also clean up the lab, dispose of any unnecessary waste." In the cramped room, under the dim light, a man dressed in a black robe and wearing a mask stood with his back to Lynn.
"Yes, teacher," Lynn said calmly, standing not far behind the man, his hands clasped in front of him as he waited patiently.
The laboratory the man mentioned was a single room that had been temporarily cleared out of this basement.
The decorations were simple, with long tables piled up on all four sides, and glass bottles and jars neatly arranged on the tables, each containing various "materials".
The room was filled with a faint smell of blood and herbs.
In the center of the laboratory was a large table. The man was facing away from Lynn, and in front of him was a horizontal operating table on which a comatose teenager was strapped.
The man took a syringe and injected it into the vein of the unconscious boy on the operating table.
The unconscious boy's body convulsed violently, his chest heaved, and white foam came out of his mouth.
Then the injected arm began to deform to a visible degree.
The arm swelled up little by little, and at the same time, a large number of fine, dark green scales appeared on the surface of the arm's skin.
Lynn had long since become accustomed to this scene, going from initial reluctance and fear to numbness and composure.
He knew that in the face of this man with extraordinary power, all he could do was try his best to survive.
This man, who called himself a wizard, was named Anglie. In the past three months, Anglie went out and captured no fewer than a hundred people to use as his test subjects.
Lynn, who was fleeing with a group of refugees, was captured by the man and was originally going to be one of the test subjects. However, after the man discovered that she had the aptitude to be a wizard, she was taken in as his student after a period of observation.
In the words of men, Lynn, who possessed wizarding qualities, was just like him, born with potential that surpassed that of ordinary people.
Lynn didn't care about potential; he just wanted to survive.
Ten minutes later, the arm on the central table in the laboratory had swelled to its limit, and the dark red veins inside the arm could even be clearly seen under the candlelight.
Lynn skillfully closed his eyes, silently counting to bang.
boom! ! !
The teenager's arm exploded on the operating table.
The flesh and internal organs near his right chest were also blasted into pieces.
The intense pain jolted the boy awake from his coma, causing him to let out a piercing wail.
Seeing that the experiment had failed, Anglie muttered a curse in his native tongue and turned to leave the room.
Lynn stepped forward, picked up the broom in the corner, and began sweeping up the pieces of meat on the ground.
"You demon, you demon!"
The boy, barely clinging to life, turned his head with bloodshot eyes and stared intently at Lynn.
Lynn stopped, took out a dagger from his pocket, stepped forward to help the boy take his last breath, and then lowered his head to continue cleaning up the trash on the ground.
There was no way he could survive such severe injuries; all he could do was help them find relief.
After cleaning up the trash on the ground, Lynn took out a black burlap sack from the corner and put the boy's body into the sack.
He then turned around and went to the next room to get a mop. He took out a large black glass jar from the corner and poured some black liquid onto the floor. The bloodstains on the floor quickly diluted after coming into contact with the black liquid.
The bloodstains on the ground were quickly cleaned up.
Lynn then put the bottles and jars back in their place on the table. These bottles and jars contained various items, including a half-tail soaked in liquid, an eyeball the size of a walnut, a dark green viscous liquid, and a pure white liquid.
Lynn arranged the bottles and jars neatly on the table, as if she had obsessive-compulsive disorder. The order of the arrangement, based on the different materials, sizes, and shapes of the bottles and jars, had a strange aesthetic appeal.
This is also why Anglie entrusted the task of organizing the laboratory to Lynn.
The lab this kid organized was more aesthetically pleasing than the one he organized himself, and the arrangement and use of materials were exceptionally convenient, as if he were a natural-born wizard.
After doing all this, a transparent screen appeared in the corner of Lynn's retina that only he could see.
A line of standard black Song typeface text appeared above.
"Daily task completed: Cleaning the laboratory (Part 1) Clean the laboratory thoroughly to keep it clean and tidy."
Completion Level: Satisfactory
"Reward: 5 general experience points."
This is something that suddenly appeared in his mind after he was given the meditation method by Anglie and performed his first meditation. It is a task panel that only he can see.
However, all the tasks listed above so far are daily tasks.
For example, cleaning the laboratory, cultivating magical plants, and collecting materials.
All tasks are only (one), perhaps a stage, or perhaps the task difficulty is one.
The completion level can be categorized as unsatisfactory, satisfactory, or good.
There should be an even higher rating than "Good", but Lynn hasn't received a higher rating yet. The mission rewards so far are all general experience points, which can be used to level up.
Lynn
Level: 2 (1/100)
Physical fitness: 1.32
Mental Power: 1.9
master:
Earth Ring Meditation (6%)
General experience points: 75
The Earth Ring Meditation Method was a meditation method taught to him by Anglie, the core of which is to construct one hundred Earth Rings in the mind.
These interlocking rings are like an earthen-yellow chain. Once you can completely visualize and construct the entire chain of a hundred rings in your mind, it means you have mastered the meditation method.
According to the promises Anglie made to him, if he could fully master the Earth Ring Meditation Method, he would be able to master a first-ring derivative spell: Earth Ring Chains.
Indeed, this teacher named Anglie possesses all sorts of magical spells and profound knowledge.
Each link on the chain is a complete earth ring. Constructing an earth ring increases mastery of the Earth Ring Meditation Technique by 1% and increases the maximum mental strength by 0.1. If one can fully master the Earth Ring Meditation Technique and construct 100 earth rings in their mind, the maximum mental strength will increase by 10 points.
Aside from this meditation method, Anglie did not impart any other knowledge to Lynn. In his words, all wizarding knowledge has its own value, and there is a rule among wizards—equivalent exchange.
Meditation is the only free gift I, as your teacher, give you as your student.
Other knowledge requires you to earn it through labor.
After tidying up the lab, Lynn turned and left the room. Outside the lab was a long, narrow corridor. She first went to the next room to wash the mop and hang it on the rough wall of the bathroom.
Further down the corridor, there was a wall candle every few meters along the surrounding walls.
The candlelight was not bright, barely enough to illuminate the surroundings. In the dim light, the outlines of doors could be vaguely seen.
That's the cell where the captured "materials" are kept.
There are six rooms, ten people, and one monster.
Lynn was responsible for delivering food to these materials every day, a tedious daily task that his wizard teacher didn't particularly enjoy.
As Anglie's student, after three months of getting to know him, he now understands Anglie quite well.
That teacher spends more than half of his time each day hiding in his room, perhaps meditating.
The remaining time was spent preparing potions, conducting injection experiments, and venturing out to gather materials.
Lynn carried the black burlap sack and walked deeper into the corridor. Along the way, the doors with modified iron railings were all locked.
Intermittent coughing could be heard from the room next door.
Footsteps were heard in the corridor, and noises came from the rooms on both sides.
"Please let me go. My family is rich. I can have them give you a large sum of money."
"My father is a knight. You devils, if you don't release me, my father will come and kill you sooner or later!"
"Handsome young man, you can do whatever you want to me, as long as you let me go."
Behind the iron railings stood a crowd of people—young people, old people, and women.
Lynn remained expressionless; he was already tired of hearing those pleas.
He couldn't save them. Even if he released them from the prison, there were magical traps set by Anglie at every exit of the house, from the doors to the windows.
Letting them out will only lead to their deaths, and it will also implicate him.
Lynn knew that even now, Anglie didn't fully trust him.
He only told Lynn that he had set up spell traps outside all the exits of the house, but he didn't tell him how to avoid or disarm them.
Walking to the far end of the corridor, the room closest to the back was different from the other rooms; it was exceptionally quiet.
Through the door, you could see that it was pitch black inside.
But Lynn had a strange feeling that something was dangerous about him.
Lynn took a key from the keychain at his waist and opened the door.
Then he threw the black sack in forcefully and quickly locked the door.
slam-la-
The room echoed with the clanging of chains and a chilling hiss.
Before long, the room was filled only with the sounds of frantic tearing and chewing.
"Ahem, sir, could you please deliver a message for me?" A rather muscular man appeared from behind a nearby cell.
The man was coughing as he spoke.
Lynn remained silent. "I'm not sure I can deliver it."
"It's okay, at least it's better than nothing, isn't it?" The man covered his mouth and coughed softly.
"My wife's name is Bova. She's a bit thin, with red hair, and only reaches about your shoulder. She went to Bangor Port in the south with the refugee group. If you ever meet her again, could you please tell her that I love her? My name is Lauren. Tell her I've always loved her. This is all the money I have on me. I hope you won't find it too much."
The man took out four somewhat dull-colored silver coins from the insole, his eyes full of pleading.
Lynn remained silent for a while, then nodded, took the silver coin, and turned to leave the corridor.
Watching Lynn's retreating figure, the man clasped his hands together in front of his chest and prayed silently.
The internal review process has been completed, so everyone can read and save it with confidence.
