Battle Through the Heavens: Emperor's Son Xiao Yan

Chapter 21 Devouring the Azure Lion Demon Flame

Time passed, and a full half hour later, Xiao Yan slowly sat up.

No, it's still weak.

Feeling that his strength was far less than before, Xiao Yan sighed helplessly.

"However, once I devour this Azure Lion Demon Flame, this cultivation technique should evolve a bit." Thinking this, Xiao Yan summoned the medicine cauldron again.

With a flick of his finger, the azure flames rose again. Xiao Yan casually gestured, and many medicinal herbs flew out of his storage ring and were thrown into the medicine cauldron.

"One more magic core is needed." Xiao Yan threw in another white magic core.

The blazing blue flames began to frantically smelt the medicine, and half an hour later, just as the pill was about to take shape, a loud "bang" was heard from the cauldron.

"Am I so weak now that I don't even have the strength to refine a fourth-grade pill?"

Xiao Yan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Due to the significant decrease in the quality and quantity of his Dou Qi, his control over it was not as smooth as before.

"Fortunately, this is only a fourth-grade pill." Xiao Yan took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and then circulated his Dou Qi several times to make sure that his control over Dou Qi had recovered to a certain extent before he started the flames again.

Fourth-tier ice-attribute magical beast core, Jade Marrow Fungus, Life-Giving Grass, Evergreen Flower

Dozens of medicinal herbs were quickly purified under the scorching heat of the Azure Lion Demon Flame. Some turned into powder, while others became crystal clear liquids. The demonic beast core in the center was also burned into a ball of ice-attribute energy.

Now it was time for the final step. With his mind focused, Xiao Yan began to integrate the purified materials from various medicinal herbs into the central ice-attribute energy cluster in a fixed order.

The mixed colors quickly turned the originally crystal clear ice energy into a clump of paste, but as the flames slowly baked it, the clump of paste was quickly baked into a crystal clear, snow-white fist-sized ball.

Next came the process of condensing the core. Xiao Yan remained motionless, using his powerful soul force to control the floating battle qi within his body.

The blue flames rose and burned continuously in the medicine cauldron, eventually vaguely transforming into the shape of a lion's head, which enveloped the nascent pill in its mouth.

About half an hour later, a glint flashed in Xiao Yan's eyes, and the lion's head formed by the cyan flames suddenly shrank, enveloping the pill within.

A moment later, a crystal-clear, snow-white pill appeared in the medicine cauldron.

A Grade Four Elixir, the Ice Heart Protector Elixir!

This is an essential medicine for refining the fire of the strange fire beast.

After finishing refining the pills, Xiao Yan couldn't help but wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.

If it were in the past, he could refine ten Ice Heart Protecting Meridian Pills in one go without feeling so tired.

"I need to devour this beast fire as soon as possible." Xiao Yan took out another Six Flavors Earth Emperor Pill and swallowed it. He then meditated and rested for half an hour before making sure he was fully recovered.

Next up is the Devouring Beast Fire!

A hint of anticipation appeared in Xiao Yan's eyes. He had gone to great lengths to become Yao Chen's disciple and cultivate this technique, even at the cost of losing a level and becoming weak, all for this moment.

As long as I can successfully devour the strange fire, then everything else is worthwhile. If I can obtain the inheritance of Emperor Tuoshe, what does all this matter?

"Gulp." Xiao Yan swallowed the Ice Heart Protector Pill into his mouth in one gulp.

The pill turned into a snow-white liquid as soon as it entered Xiao Yan's mouth and flowed down his throat.

The feeling was like drinking an ice-cold beer on a hot summer day with temperatures of 38.6 degrees Celsius, making Xiao Yan shiver involuntarily.

"Awesome!" Xiao Yan exhaled a breath of cold air, and a thin layer of crystals had formed on the surface of his meridians.

Next, it's time to devour the Azure Lion Demon Flame!

Xiao Yan closed his eyes and looked inward. His vast Dou Qi sea swirled within him, appearing slightly unstable. Within this Dou Qi sea, a ball of azure flame transformed into a small lion with wings, soaring about.

"Stop playing around." With a thought, Xiao Yan pulled the little lion out of his dantian.

"Awoo!" The little lion struggled slightly, but was scattered into a pile of blue flames by Xiao Yan's soul power. Then, it was wrapped by Dou Qi and turned into a thin line of flames that entered the meridian route of the "Burning Technique".

As soon as the azure flames entered Xiao Yan's meridians, he felt a sharp pain as if his meridians were being roasted. However, in reality, the Azure Lion Demon Flame did not harm him at all.

After all, Xiao Yan had refined this beast fire into his natal beast fire when he was ten years old, and Xiao Yan's Crimson Flame Demon Body was tempered with the Azure Lion Demon Flame, making his resistance to the Azure Lion Demon Flame terrifying.

Furthermore, even though Xiao Yan has become weaker, he still possesses the Dou Qi of a Dou Huang of the first star, so he won't be in any danger even without using the Ice Heart Protecting Meridian Pill.

However, Xiao Yan's personality has always been one of either not doing anything at all or going all out. Since he has decided to refine the beast fire, he will fight like a lion hunting a rabbit, giving it his all.

Of course, the benefits of the Ice Heart Protecting Meridian Pill soon became apparent, namely, it greatly reduced the pain of the Azure Lion Demon Flame burning the meridians.

The pain, which was originally at level seven or eight, was reduced to level three or four, making it somewhat uncomfortable for Xiao Yan but still completely bearable.

As the Dou Qi, enveloping the Azure Lion Demon Flame, circulated within the cultivation meridians of the "Burning Technique," Xiao Yan discovered that a wisp of Dou Qi and a wisp of Azure Lion Demon Flame had begun to strangely merge!

No, rather than merging, it's more accurate to say that the Azure Lion Demon Flame is being gradually devoured by the "Burning Technique" battle qi!

"Holy crap, awesome!" Xiao Yan was overjoyed and continued to control his Dou Qi to envelop the Azure Lion Demon Flame as he advanced.

Only at this point could he be certain that the so-called "Burning Technique" truly possessed the miraculous effect of evolution!

With the completion of a full cycle, the two have almost completely merged into one, and the originally pale yellow battle aura has been tinged with an eerie cyan color.

On the surface of the cyan battle aura, wisps of cyan flames rose, but these cyan flames would not cause any further damage to the meridians!

"My fighting spirit has finally become a little stronger, but it's still not strong enough." Xiao Yan kept his eyes closed, feeling the fighting spirit within his body become more powerful.

"I've evolved from low-level Yellow Rank to high-level Yellow Rank," Xiao Yan sighed as he felt the Dou Qi within his body.

Even the best beast fire is still far inferior to a strange fire.

Even the beast fire of a ninth-tier magical beast is somewhat inferior to the Xuanhuang Flame, which is at the bottom of the Strange Flame Ranking. Only by fusing a large number of beast fires to condense the Myriad Beast Spirit Flame can it be slightly suppressed.

It seems I still have to head to the Northwest Continent to find the Strange Flame. The Azure Lotus Earth Core Flame and the Fallen Heart Flame alone are enough to restore me to the Earth Rank, and might even help me break through to the Dou Zong rank.

Moreover, my heroines should already be waiting for me.

Thinking of the many beauties in the Northwest Continent, Xiao Yan couldn't help but feel a surge of heat in his heart, and a smile involuntarily appeared on his lips.

"Hehehe!"

Three days later.

"Teacher, I'm leaving." Xiao Yan glanced at Yao Chen, who was disheveled, and suddenly felt a pang of pity. This old man had gone a bit crazy in his quest to break through to the Half-Saint realm.

"Leave?" Yao Chen shook his disheveled hair and frowned. "Where are you going? You are a once-in-a-century alchemy prodigy, while I am the top alchemist on the continent!"

You are destined to be molded into the most dazzling alchemist in the Dou Qi Continent under my hands!
