Chapter 68 I Don't Want to Be Batman

Guns roared!

With Iron Man mediating, Gotham City's police force and the National Guard, who were originally forced to assist Bane in sealing off the city, launched a coordinated attack. They transformed into a steel torrent, sweeping towards all the controlled core areas of Gotham City.

Led by the guards' LAV-25 wheeled infantry fighting vehicles, the Gotham police officers, who had been imprisoned for so long, used their AR-15 rifles to show Bane's men what "5.56mm justice" truly meant!

With their superior numbers and equipment, they easily tore apart the first wave of bandits who attempted to fight back.

Bane has a considerable number of men under his command, more than a thousand desperados wearing bulletproof vests and fully armed, plus the thugs and hooligans who gathered after taking over Gotham City, bringing the total number to nearly ten thousand.

If Bane were given enough time to recruit the forces of various gangs and train these outlaws, he might still have a fighting chance.

Unfortunately, Bane was too hasty. He was busy suppressing various government agencies and television stations in Gotham and didn't have time to deal with the various gangs.

Whether it's the Joker Gang or other established underworld families, they're all hiding in their own territories, pretending to be dead.

Now that the police and National Guard have arrived, they simply pretend to be law-abiding citizens and offer no resistance whatsoever.

On Bain's side, apart from his direct subordinates, the rest of the guys are no match for him.

Both their equipment and training were a complete mess.

These thugs, who had no bulletproof vests, were armed with broken guns with almost worn-out rifling, and were completely disorganized, were no match for the federal army.

Even so, the battle was still quite fierce.

In desperation, many of Bane's men set fire to houses or detonated their explosives, plunging about one-tenth of Gotham City into flames.

However, all of this is destined to remain unmentioned in the news.

The key point is that Iron Man and Batman teamed up to raid a convoy containing a nuclear fusion reactor, only to discover that the time bomb on the reactor had started counting down and could not be defused.

In a few quick movements, Iron Man flew up to the stratosphere with the giant iron ball.

Yes, today is a good day.

Residents along roughly half of the US East Coast could see the huge flash in the sky, as well as the giant mushroom shape that spread out.

This mess should have ended there.

The problem arose when Batman confronted Bane.

It was in the square in front of City Hall, Bane with his hands in his pockets, a relaxed expression on his face, waiting for Batman.

"Bane! You're finished!" Batman's hoarse voice trembled with anger as he jumped off the hovering Batmobile.

His anger stemmed not from his own experience with gay sex, but from the fact that he came out to find Bane had turned Gotham City, which he was supposed to protect, into this wretched state.

Bane didn't immediately respond. The giant, wearing a bulletproof vest and a strange black trapezoidal mask, gazed into the distance: "What a beautiful sight, it's a pity it's not happening in Gotham or New York City."

Batman: "..."

Only then did Bain turn around and face his old rival: "I'm finished? No! The grand show has only just begun."

After Bane finished speaking, he took out another remote control, which made Batman feel uneasy.

"call out!"

Batman raised his hand and threw three batarangs that flew in sharp straight lines, aiming straight for Bane's right hand.

From the beginning, Batman didn't expect to hit Bane; he just wanted to stop Bane for a moment, even if it was just for half a second.

Just as Batman transformed into a black phantom and charged forward, Bane did not dodge or evade, allowing three batarangs to pierce his unprotected arm.

Blood splattered!

But Bain still pressed the button on the remote control.

"Bang!"

A massive, cataclysmic explosion.

Dozens of bombs were detonated in a circle around a plaza spanning over 10,000 square meters, followed by another explosion just closer to the center.

It is clear that all the explosions were precisely calculated and designed by explosion engineers.

Even though Batman reacted faster, he could only spread his bat cape and hover in mid-air like a real bat, but he couldn't stop the earth from collapsing.

"Boom!"

The ground collapsed in large sections, raising dust tens of meters high, which completely rendered the encirclement by all the National Guard soldiers on the outside ineffective.

Wearing his glider suit, Batman flapped his "wings" like a giant bat, and the huge airflow dispersed the smoke and dust in the center of the collapse.

It was only then that Batman was stunned to discover that even though the collapse had caused the entire area beneath him to sink by more than twenty meters, Bane was still standing steadily on the central plaza bricks where he had originally stood.

Even more incredibly, right behind Bane stood the portal that exuded an ominous, terrifying, and bloody aura.

What?

Batman's eyes widened; he never expected that after all this time, he would end up back here.

Batman remembered something.

"Hey! You bastard, are you dead?" Bruce Wayne, hiding behind the Batman mask, suddenly felt a little nervous.

"Crackling!"

Behind Batman, there was a sound of rubble breaking, and then a large rock was easily pushed aside by the guy with superhuman strength, revealing a bald head in the dust.

"Pah! Don't curse me! I don't want to be Batman!" Ang spat, his mouth covered in ash. The explosion had really scared him.

"..." Even as clever as Bruce was, he still couldn't figure out what those words meant.

These should be heartwarming words of filial piety and parental love... right?

The only slight shock came from the sheer number of female heroes behind Kratos. Incidentally, there was also a Catwoman among them.

This made the person, whose face was already expressionless after wearing the bat headgear, even more stiff.

Just then, Bane grinned maliciously, raising his arms high and waving them in a highly provocative manner.

There were no followers around him, as was the case.

Who knew that a bizarre and terrifying scene would unfold from there.

One by one, the zombie heroes who had been killed by Ang not long ago stood up unsteadily.

Most of them had lost their heads, and some had lost more than half of their bodies. As the portal overflowed with the stench of blood, their withered and decaying remains began to swell and twist.

At the same time, thick bone spikes and tough fleshy tentacles, like long whips, extended from Bane's burly body.

These tentacles danced nimbly, striking the bodies of the suicide squad's zombie heroes with pinpoint accuracy. Their remains were silently torn apart and reassembled, like giant add-ons embedded into Bane's body.

Not only them, but a large group of Bane's followers emerged from every corner of the underground passage with eerie elation on their faces. They cheered, shouted, and praised, and then rushed towards Bane.

Under the watchful eyes of Batman and other heroes, in the blink of an eye, Bane transformed into a terrifying giant more than three stories tall.
