Chapter 73 Captain America's Attack
Chapter 73 Captain America's Attack
Amidst shouts and curses, Steve walked off the stage dejectedly, realizing why the soldiers below were so agitated.
"Fuck, what new American superhero?"
"Who does he think he is? Fuck! He thinks he can be ranked alongside Colonel Lim Chye? What is the government doing?"
"The new American war hero, which battle did he fight in? And he's doing those ridiculous, ugly dances on stage!"
"Get those ladies on stage already, I can't stand that Steve!"
The hall was filled with shouts and curses. Even though the officers were reprimanding them, the soldiers did not stop their cursing. Some of the non-commissioned officers even joined in!
The entire venue was in complete chaos until a group of girls in cheerleading outfits ran onto the stage. Only then did the furious soldiers slowly calm down and patiently watch the girls perform on stage.
Slowly walking out from behind the stage, Steve gently tossed the cloak he was wearing onto the ground. He was already somewhat tired of this kind of life. From the initial novelty to the current numbness, he didn't know where to go from here!
An attendant quickly came to his side.
"Steve, Commander Carter is looking for you!"
Steve suddenly raised his head, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes, and quickly rushed towards the camp located behind the stage.
A tent.
"The military finally let me participate in the operation?"
"No! I just hope you can participate!" Carter looked at Steve, whom she hadn't seen for many days. He looked somewhat haggard. She had heard the rumors about the military, which was why she had come to see him.
"Perhaps only you can complete this task now!"
"?"
He slowly recounted how Lin Jue had been on a mission, but the information was leaked by spies, leading to their ambush and their current whereabouts being unknown.
"What? Colonel Lin Jue is missing too, and so is Bucky!"
Upon hearing the devastating news, Steve stood frozen in place. One piece of news was like two heavy blows: one was the person who had mentored him, the superior who appreciated him and changed his life, and the other was his best friend from childhood. Now, the two most important people in his life had both met with misfortune because of one incident.
Unable to resist, Carter hugged Steve, unsure how to comfort this upright young man.
"I'm willing to go, and I definitely want to go!"
Steve looked at Carter with unwavering determination; he had never been so resolute in his goals before.
Under Carter's leadership, Steve finally returned to the training camp he had been away from for so long.
Looking at the familiar training ground where he had once sweated profusely, Steve's expression was complicated. He seemed to see Lin Jue's figure, and the affirming and praising look in his eyes when he trained him.
Lin Jue's arrival was like a beam of light piercing through the darkness, illuminating his small world at that time.
Steve's arrival surprised some of his former companions. After not seeing him for such a short time, they almost didn't recognize the once weakest guy.
"The news of Colonel Lin Jue's disappearance has not yet been officially announced, so we hope you will not leak this information. Otherwise, it could easily affect the morale of the current US troops!"
Carter walked up to Steve and said softly.
Steve nodded slowly. As a soldier, how could he not understand Lin Jue's reputation in the army? It could be said that not only the US military, but even ordinary people in the United States often talked about that person's heroic deeds!
Taking a deep breath, Steve walked resolutely toward the group of familiar soldiers.
Under Carter's orders, the Ironblood training camp sprang into action, and soon a military truck pulled up in front of the two men.
Steve got into the truck.
"Are you sure you don't need to send some soldiers with you?" Carter asked again, her face showing concern. Even though she had witnessed Steve's abilities, she couldn't help but worry.
"No need! I'm not the same person I used to be! You know that!" Steve said firmly in a deep voice.
The truck sped away and stopped in front of a military airfield, where they slowly boarded the plane that Carter had arranged in advance.
With such high efficiency, Steve traveled from the comfort party to over German territory in just three days.
At midnight, Steve shouldered his parachute and looked down at the endless jungle below.
"Colonel, did you land here too?"
Steve muttered to himself, then jumped off the plane.
Amidst howling winds, his figure plummeted like a sharp sword. He continued his high-speed descent, only deploying his parachute just before hitting the ground. With a powerful impact, he crashed heavily to the earth.
His gaze swept quickly across the surrounding dense forest. Without hesitation, he used his ability, and with the soil sinking, he stomped out heavily, moving at an extraordinary speed.
What took Lin Jue and the others half a day to travel, he accomplished in just one hour.
Looking at the empty Hydra base, devoid of any patrol personnel, Steve's expression darkened slightly. Thanks to his powerful physique, he felt no fatigue after such an intense run.
He rushed into the factory, and his appearance instantly caused two German soldiers who were chatting inside to draw their guns. The next moment, Steve, who was running towards them at high speed, knocked them both to the ground with two heavy punches.
The two collapsed to the ground and instantly lost consciousness.
Without pausing, Steve rushed rapidly into the Hydra base.
Amidst the rising and falling gunfire and roars, more and more German soldiers discovered Steve's presence, using iron plates they had somehow pulled out to block the bullets while firing rapidly.
At this moment, Steve was fighting against dozens of German troops all by himself.
As the iron shield in his hand dented, the enemy's firepower instantly decreased, and Steve hurled the iron shield away.
With a dull thud, the iron plate sent three German soldiers flying backwards.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Steve leaped onto the railing and rushed toward the German soldiers who were changing their magazines.
Realizing it was too late, a German sergeant instantly drew his dagger and stabbed at Steve. However, his slow speed allowed Steve to dodge the dagger in an instant, and at the same time, a vicious elbow strike hit him in the temple.
Ignoring the German sergeant who was slowly falling to the side, Steve quickly rushed towards the panicked German soldiers.
Amidst the deafening roar from inside the factory, German soldiers crashed heavily against the surrounding walls. As they cried out that it was a monster, Steve broke through layer after layer of encirclement.
Until he arrived at a place where many American prisoners of war were being held...
