Chapter 63 The Vanished Captain America
Chapter 63 The Vanished Captain America
"..."
Boom... Rumble...
Countless grains of sand and gravel rained down from the tent. Lin Jue looked at the tent with a large hole in it and looked helpless. The tent was located at the foot of a hill and was placed there to use the hill as cover.
It was clear that the German artillery fire had reached the American wounded soldiers' camp.
At this moment, Lin Jue was somewhat worried. Sensing the slowly healing bones inside his body, he felt that if the area above his tent were to be bombed a few more times, he would probably be buried alive in this deserted corner without the Germans needing to intervene.
As the only person who was initially declared dead but was subsequently resuscitated, Lin Jue slowly looked at the corpses displayed around him, his lips twitching slightly.
boom!
The ground trembled slightly, the metal bed shook violently, and Lin Jue's body was thrown high into the air before crashing heavily back onto the bed.
"..."
"Oh my god!"
A nurse ran over quickly and pulled Lin Jue's bed, pushing it out of the tent. Soon, Lin Jue was pushed into the noisy and chaotic treatment area.
The nurse pushed Lin Jue's bed to a corner of the room, her face showing apology.
"Soldier, how are you feeling now?"
"This feels really bad!"
"(_)...Dr. Richard will give you a second treatment in a moment, please wait patiently!"
"..."
Lin Jue watched the nurse flee without looking back. Although he acknowledged her current work performance, since the number of wounded recently brought in was far more efficient than the number of wounded she treated, he still felt incredibly frustrated. It was ridiculous to be forgotten in the casualty list.
Although I was already somewhat familiar with the nature of dimensional travel, this was the first time I had been seriously injured and unable to move immediately after arriving in a new dimension!
And so, amidst the roar of artillery fire, Lin Jue endured this agonizing day. Feeling the cracking and popping of his bones, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Dr. Richard and the nurse from before hurriedly came to his bedside. At this moment, Lin Jue's gaze was fixed on the torn part of the cloak, through which he could see the dark night sky outside.
Richard reached out and pressed on Lin Jue's leg, which was wrapped in blood-stained cloth, and then slowly moved his hand upwards. Suddenly, Richard's hands were gripped tightly by another hand.
Lin Jue stared intently at the disheveled doctor in front of him: "Doctor, where are you touching?"
"Soldier, I'm examining you!" Richard frowned, looking at the Asian soldier who seemed to be glaring at him with some confusion.
"I'm doing very well there!"
"Uh... okay!"
Richard pursed his lips, then looked at Lin Jue's upper body and slowly peeled off the blood-red gauze. He wanted to check whether the previous sterilization measures were appropriate to avoid further infection of the wound.
However, when the gauze was removed, a look of shock flashed across his face, and the nurse next to him couldn't help but exclaim.
Looking at the actions of the doctors and nurses in front of him, Lin Jue curled his lips. He knew these people would react this way. After all, with his Primordial Body and Blood God Body, self-healing was so easy.
Richard slowly extended his fingers and touched the wound that had begun to scab over. He lifted his eyes slightly, his movements trembling.
"This...such a big wound...how could it heal so quickly?"
"Ah! My body's clotting cells are stronger, so my healing speed is faster than average!"
Suddenly, Lin Jue seemed to realize something and thought to himself that something was wrong. He suddenly realized that the timeline of this world was not the same as that of his previous life in the DC era, where superhumans were common. There was no sign of superhumans frequently appearing in this world's system!
Of course, the mutants next door are another story...
Seeing the gleam in the doctor's eyes, Lin Jue subconsciously clenched his fist.
"This soldier is almost fully recovered, let's check on the other patients!"
"Ah, yes, Dr. Richard!"
Watching the doctor and nurse slowly walk away, Lin Jue breathed a slight sigh of relief. He had subconsciously wanted to escape from here, after all, according to the plot, the US military had already begun researching super gene drugs that could enhance soldiers' physical fitness.
If I were used as an optimization template and dragged out for dissection and research, that would be unpleasant.
Lin Jue was self-aware enough that even though his physical abilities far surpassed those of ordinary people, he understood that he could not fight against the army.
Needless to say, a few rockets, the sheer tide of metal alone would be enough to overwhelm him.
Relieved, Lin Jue quickly scanned the rest of the people in the tent, automatically ignoring the screams, wails, and cries of the soldiers around him.
He had actually been observing for most of the day, but still couldn't find that familiar figure.
"Where exactly did things go wrong?"
Lin Jue muttered to himself.
And so, day and night went by, Lin Jue watched as stretchers were brought to his side, and then as people were carried away to the morgue. The cruelty of war intensified.
Three days later, during Dr. Richard's final examination, he couldn't help but pat Lin Jue's upright figure.
"Soldier, your name is Lin? Very good. I hope you can contact me after this battle. Perhaps I can unlock the secret of your extraordinary physical abilities!"
"Ah, yes, yes, you're absolutely right!"
Lin Jue smiled and nodded repeatedly in response. There was nothing he could do; although the person in front of him was a doctor, he was a doctor with a military rank, and he had to salute him when he saw him.
Lin Jue slowly took his original equipment from the soldier beside him, which consisted of a short-barreled submachine gun and five grenades. He couldn't wait to walk out of the medical tent.
He didn't notice that Dr. Richard, who seemed to be turning around to treat the wounded, was staring intently at his departing figure.
……
boom!
The intense sound of artillery fire shook his ears. Thanks to his extraordinary hearing, Lin Jue, his face contorted with rage, slowly pulled a mangled corpse off the earthen bed and brought it to the pit where the corpse had been lying, quickly setting up his gun and firing.
As the gun in his hand trembled, Lin Jue's eyes gradually revealed excitement. With his extraordinary eyesight, he could even clearly see the bullets he fired piercing through the enemy's body.
The battle lasted all day, from dawn to night. Lin Jue followed the American troops, constantly carrying out attack and retreat maneuvers.
Looking with some admiration at his comrades who were constantly screaming and fighting beside him, Lin Jue couldn't help but sigh. No wonder so many people suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Such a high frequency of bombing and fighting would be too much for even the most normal person to withstand.
Buzz buzz buzz!
A deafening roar came from the sky.
I don't know who shouted it first.
"Those are German bombers! Take cover!"
All the American soldiers who had been fighting back fiercely in the pits lay down under the earthen beds and crawled into the pits they had dug earlier.
The inexperienced Lin Jue helplessly lay down on the ground, his gaze falling on the only pit beside him, which was also occupied by a trembling soldier.
