Chapter 440 Beasts

The dense jungle was shrouded in a light mist because it was early morning, but this did not hinder Bella and Alice's progress at all.

Their figures darted quickly through the forest, but soon their speeds caused them to drift apart.

Bella looked at the figure flashing past ahead with a hint of surprise in her eyes. It was the first time she had seen Alice display her speed.

Unlike Edward, Alice was noticeably slower, but still beyond Bella's ability to see clearly; she could only make out a rapidly moving figure.

Seeing that she couldn't catch up with Alice, Bella slowed down and strolled in the direction Alice had gone, curiously looking around at the surrounding woods.

The damp scent of earth mingled with the fragrance of leaves, making Bella feel exceptionally good. Time passed by little by little as Bella enjoyed the tranquility of the morning.

Sudden……

slam-la-

The constant chirping from the dense forest not far ahead instantly interrupted Bella's thoughts. She stared in astonishment at the lush jungle ahead, and a sense of curiosity arose in her heart after noticing the birds scattering in all directions.

Alice hadn't reacted this way when she wandered through the dense forest before.

She quickened her pace and hurried toward the woods, as if sensing something might have happened.

Soon, Bella disappeared into the jungle, and as she approached the seemingly "chaotic" woods, she slowed her pace.

Because the forest here was much denser than before, the tall and lush canopies blocked most of the sunlight, making the surrounding light exceptionally dim. Coupled with the strange, almost imperceptible atmosphere, Bella's heart couldn't help but pound.

"Alice..."

Taking a deep breath, Bella suppressed her inner tension. The dense forest seemed extremely desolate because all the small animals in the vicinity had left.

As she ventured into the woods, a terrifying atmosphere and a peculiar feeling enveloped Bella.

"Alice, are you here?"

Bella mustered her courage and called out again. Suddenly, she seemed to have discovered something. Her gaze locked onto a dark thicket where a hunched figure was tidying up something. Bella, unable to see clearly, couldn't help but walk forward.

However, before she could get a few steps closer, a strong smell of blood filled her nostrils.

Under the mouth!

Bella stopped in her tracks, her face deathly pale. Amidst the heavy smell of blood, she finally saw the creature clearly.

It appeared to be a man who was squatting on the ground, holding a huge elk in his arms, burying his head in the elk's body.

Well--

Bella covered her mouth tightly with her hand to prevent herself from screaming. She slowly moved backward, and just as her gaze was about to leave the man and darkness enveloped her vision, a strange muffled sound came from the man's direction.

!!!

Her pupils contracted sharply as she stared in horror at the figure that had vanished in an instant. Unable to contain her fear any longer, Bella turned and rushed toward the woods behind her.

However, before she could take more than a few steps, she was tackled to the ground by a fleeting figure.

"Let me go!"

Bella screamed, but when she saw the figure lying on top of her, she quickly covered her mouth.

Before her stood Alice, who had separated from her earlier to search for the fruit. Alice's face was grave, and she held a finger to her lips, signaling Bella to be quiet.

Bella nodded frantically, a light mist covering her eyes, clearly indicating that what had just happened had frightened her greatly.

Everything proceeded silently. Bella looked at Alice, who was standing in front of her, constantly turning her head to look around with a look of fear on her face. Then she let Alice pick her up.

boom!

The two were instantly launched into the air. Looking at the tree trunks rushing past them, Bella finally breathed a sigh of relief.

At this speed, it should be...

boom!

The dull thud sent both of them flying. Alice clung tightly to Bella, protecting her in her arms.

Soon, the two fell into a bush.

Alice stood up, revealing sharp fangs, and glared fiercely at her surroundings. She vaguely guessed what had just attacked her.

"What is that? Why is he attacking us?"

Bella was somewhat terrified; she had no idea what was going on.

"Bella, I might not be able to take you out for a while. That guy's target is you. Edward has probably already told you that you have a strange scent that's fatally attractive to vampires!"

Alice spoke very quickly, her face extremely solemn. She tried her best to keep her tone calm, but her slightly trembling hands showed the damage she had just suffered from the impact.

She didn't tell Bella that she hadn't even seen the other person clearly, but she felt she had to fight to the death to protect Bella.

"Alice, what do we do now?"

Bella was somewhat flustered. She also looked around, her eyes revealing fear. How could she not be afraid when she became someone else's prey?

"Bella, I need you to leave here alone and find Lin. That guy is acting very strangely..."

Alice's eyes gleamed with a golden light as she glanced at Bella, managing to glimpse some vague destiny. This made her realize that the key to the current situation lay with the girl before her!

"But……"

"roar!"

The roars of wild beasts nearby silenced Bella. Seeing Alice's anxious urging, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and rush into the dense forest.

Alice clung tightly to Bella's back.

She quickly sensed that aura.

boom!

The blurry figure barely grazed past Alice, and the terrifying aura made Alice's muscles tense. This time, she didn't try to run away, but instead rammed into the other person, sending him flying just before he could miss and pounce on Bella.

"roar!"

"Fuck!"

Behind her, the roars of wild beasts and Alice's screams filled Bella's heart with endless fear and confusion. She ran frantically into the woods, calling out the names of the Allen family members and Lin Jue.

Persistence pays off; in just a few breaths, a familiar figure appeared in front of her.

Emmett!

"Bella!"

Emmett, who wanted to go it alone, appeared in front of Bella.

"Emmet! Quick, help Alice! There's a monster behind me that's got her in its grasp, and it looks like a vampire too!"

Bella looked extremely anxious. She frantically pointed behind her and cried out in a pleading voice.

"What?"

With a hint of ferocity in his eyes, Emmett gestured for Bella to go and get help, while he himself charged straight in the direction Bella was pointing.
