Chapter 38 Defeat!

Lin Jue moved quickly between the shelves. At that moment, a ferocious-looking creature, resembling a monster, was frantically lifting the shelves.

"Why are you running away? Weren't you having a great time just now?"

Drake opened his hideous, blood-red mouth and let out a low growl, mixed with a faint chuckle. This was the most exhilarating battle he had experienced since awakening.

With a vicious rip, the claws tore apart the metal shelf blocking its path, and the burly, strong body charged toward the grim-faced young man behind it.

Just as his hands were about to touch Lin Jue, a lightning-fast whip kick struck his abdomen. However, Drake did not fly backward. Instead, Lin Jue was forced to retreat due to the force of the impact.

"How did this guy suddenly become so much stronger?"

Lin Jue was secretly alarmed. Ever since Drake transformed, the damage his attacks caused to him had been greatly reduced.

Drake, who had leaned back slightly from the attack, regained his footing. He was thoroughly enjoying Lin Jue's shocked expression, just like he had when he had just woken up.

"I... am the god of vampires!"

Drake roared excitedly, his speed suddenly increasing again, and with a punch and a kick, all the obstacles in his way exploded.

Under his extremely fierce offensive, Lin Jue's body kept retreating backward. In a hurry, he put his arms in front of his chest to block the fist that was as thick as a thigh. Under the powerful attack, Lin Jue slammed hard against the wall.

Feeling the burning pain in his back and arms, Lin Jue narrowed his eyes slightly. The next moment, he leaped up, brushing past Drake's charging figure. His body twisted in mid-air, and he delivered a powerful punch, slamming it down heavily on Drake's ferocious head.

boom!

With a powerful impact, Drake's body fell to his knees. Lin Jue, who had leaped down, seized the opportunity and kicked Drake's burly body away with another heavy kick.

The next moment, just as he was about to rush forward and press his advantage, he was sent flying backward again, staring in astonishment at Drake, who leaped out of the ruins with a mocking expression.

Lin Jue never expected that Drake's reaction speed would be so fast, and even his attack just now seemed to have had little effect on him!

"You're the progenitor of vampires? I think you should be called a vampire turtle!"

With a roar, Lin Jue saw Drake's smug gaze and his anger surged up. He leaped out and charged at Drake with brazen force.

"Turtle? You'll pay for your words, you damn imposter!"

Bang bang bang!

The two figures moved continuously through the dilapidated store, where all the goods were smashed and destroyed. Feeling the increasing pain all over his body, Lin Jue's heart sank deeper and deeper.

Looking at Drake, who was still in a state of excitement and kept bombarding him, even the usually competitive Lin Jue had to admit that he seemed unable to defeat the transformed Blood God at the moment.

Having taken two heavy punches from Lin Jue, Drake's face contorted in rage. He delivered a powerful straight punch to Lin Jue's abdomen, and the intense impact forced Lin Jue to lose control. Blood spurted from his mouth as he crashed heavily outside the shop. He glanced around, noticing the horrified looks on the faces of those around him, and the woman lying on the ground on the other side—the female shop assistant he had casually tossed aside during the fight.

With a slight thought in his mind, a semi-transparent light screen appeared in front of him the next moment. His gaze went directly to one of the option bars, where a longsword with a shimmering silver luster appeared!

Just as he was about to exchange the money, police sirens sounded from the distant street.

His gaze returned to the burly figure rushing into the shop. The next moment, amidst the panicked stares of the crowd, his figure vanished into the corner of the street.

Roar!

With a violent roar, all the onlookers scattered in terror. Drake's crimson pupils stared in the direction Lin Jue had disappeared, but he did not chase after him.

Police cars slowly pulled up beside him. Fully armed special police officers, who were completely covered up, got out of the cars. One of them, who was clearly the leader, slowly walked up to Drake.

His voice, laced with suppressed anger, was deep as he said, "Lord Blood God, why did you expose your true form?"

boom!

With a furious slap, the man was sent flying backward, crashing heavily into the police car and denting it.

The turn of events caused the SWAT officers who got out of the police cars to raise their guns and aim at the monstrous man.

Drake's crimson pupils slowly scanned his surroundings, and he could clearly sense that they were all vampires.

The man who had been knocked to the ground slowly got up, suppressing his anger and trying to maintain a calm and respectful tone: "Ancestor, things are different now than before. We must hide in the shadows. If we are exposed to human society, it could very well bring about our annihilation!"

Meeting Drake's gaze, the vampire leader watched as Drake slowly transformed back into his normal form from his monster form and breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Damn Danika, doesn't he know how to restrain this guy? Does he really think that his status as the progenitor is so intimidating? He's just a catalyst for our race to evolve!

The vampire leader's eyes, hidden behind sunglasses, were extremely sinister. His long-standing life of luxury had made him completely disregard the legendary Blood God before him.

Drake left the neighborhood led by the vampire SWAT officers.

In a dilapidated hotel, Lin Jue slowly wiped the blood off his body. The blood was a mixture of red and white, some of it his, and some of it Drake's.

"You're back?"

The soft words echoed in the hotel room as a middle-aged woman watched Lin Jue slowly approach with a smile on her face.

"How's it going? Have you found your family yet?"

The middle-aged woman looked expectant, but Lin Jue just pursed his lips and didn't even bother to reply, slowly walking towards the second floor.

"Pshaw, so what if he's handsome? Can he be as handsome as our readers?"

The middle-aged woman, not wanting to make a fool of herself, slowly swayed her plump body and returned to the bar to continue her daily work.

Meanwhile, chaos reigned inside a police station. Blade had just been arrested, but was rescued. The chief was loudly berating his incompetent subordinate.

"Boss, the bodies are all cleaned up!"

A police officer rushed forward quickly and whispered.

The middle-aged bureau chief's eyes flickered slightly, he nodded slowly, glared fiercely at the bewildered police officers, and then walked towards his office.

In the once-empty office, a woman sat quietly in his seat. When the middle-aged bureau chief saw this, he was not angry at all. Instead, he smiled and respectfully walked up to her.

"This time, a new threat has emerged, one that's even more dangerous than Blade!"

Danika's gaze was fixed on the director, who was still human, standing before her.

"Please speak!"

The bureau chief handed over a photograph, took it with both hands, and looked at the person in the photo. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

"Asian, is this guy a greater threat to you vampires than the Daytime Ranger?"
