Chapter 19 Fermentation
"Today's Morning Briefing: A major attack occurred in District 24 last night. The two sides involved in the conflict are of unknown origin, while the other side is the recently infamous motorcycle gang from Gotham East. The death toll is 23. Residents of District 24 are advised to take necessary safety precautions!"
Police have conducted a preliminary investigation into the incident, and current findings indicate that it was not the work of the Dark Knight!
At that moment, everyone in the bar stared in astonishment at the news report on television.
"Great! Those damn bastards, finally someone's going to take care of them!"
Someone shouted out first, and shouts echoed all around.
It's unclear when exactly the motorcycle gangs started showing up, turning the once relatively peaceful and tranquil Wallier Street into chaos. As regulars at Emily's Tavern, we were all fairly law-abiding citizens and had long harbored resentment towards this.
But alas, their voices carried little weight. Needless to say, the Gotham police were completely unreliable. All they could do was pray that the Dark Knight would open his eyes and take notice of their small corner of Gotham!
Fortunately, heaven opened its eyes, and finally someone took action against that group of motorcyclists who were causing trouble all day long!
Dam excitedly found Emily, who was constantly organizing the shelves.
"Emily? Where's Lin?"
"Brother Dam, you're not going to ask him to stand up for you again, are you?"
Emily frowned deeply, trying her best to show anger on her delicate face, but unfortunately, her pure and innocent face was not intimidating at all!
"No! Emily, ever since Lin taught those guys a lesson last time, they haven't dared to mess with me!"
Dam scratched his head, looking at Emily somewhat embarrassed. He hadn't expected that Emily would know about the help he had received from Lin Jue.
"Lin is my employee, he's mine now, you can't ask him to do anything dangerous anymore!"
Emily had a serious expression on her face; her fair complexion appeared translucent, like white porcelain, under the sunlight.
"ha?"
Dam scratched his messy hair and left the bar with an embarrassed look on his face.
"He went shopping! He probably won't be back until noon!"
Emily's words echoed behind him, and Dam beamed with joy, bowing repeatedly to Emily in gratitude.
Not far from Wallier Street, in the 29th arrondissement, at a brewery, Lin Jue, wearing overalls and a beret, smiled as he looked at the burly man in front of him, whose eyes held a scrutinizing and probing gaze.
"Hello, Uncle Jodson, I'm Lin Jue!"
"I know you, 'Lin,' who's recently become quite famous on Wall Street. You're known for your helpfulness and assistance to the weak!"
Jordan narrowed his eyes, carefully observing the young man in front of him—no, he could even be called a teenager. He had a handsome face, eyes like stars, and exuded an extremely confident and sunny aura.
This is extremely rare in Gotham, a place rife with robbery, drug trafficking, and murder!
"I hope you can take good care of Emily!" Jordan looked directly into Lin Jue's eyes, but Lin Jue remained unfazed, his face calm, and nodded in agreement.
His calm and composed demeanor made Jordan nod inwardly in approval!
He stretched out his broad, calloused hand and patted Lin Jue's shoulder forcefully. The seemingly frail body did not sway at all. Qiao Desen's eyes flashed slightly, and then he led Lin Jue into his processing plant as if nothing had happened.
As Emily's father's close friend, Jodson runs a brewery with over 20 years of history. He has always been the one supplying beer for Emily's tavern. Because of the building's structure, sunlight can shine through the roof glass into the brewery, where burly men are constantly moving between the brewing machines!
Arriving directly at the pre-arranged collection point of the packing boxes, Jodson casually waved, and soon two burly men in jackets came forward and began moving the boxes toward the truck Lin Jue had rented.
"I've heard about the motorcycle gang incident. Wallier Street should be peaceful for a while. During this time, I hope you won't cause any trouble, because you're no longer alone!"
Jodson leaned against the wall, looking directly at Lin Jue, whose face was calm. He had a rough idea of Lin Jue's character; he was definitely not a bad guy. At the same time, he was also quite skilled and willing to help Emily, which was great!
"Don't worry!"
Soon, as all the wine crates were loaded onto the truck, Lin Jue said goodbye to Qiao Desen and followed the truck back.
"Boss, is this guy reliable?" A burly white youth muttered with a hint of dissatisfaction on his face.
He had wanted to help Emily before, but was sternly warned by Jordson. Now, an Asian man who appeared out of nowhere had received Jordson's approval, which made him feel a little unbalanced!
Moreover, before Emily's father was killed by the mafia due to a gang conflict, Emily was always the darling of their bar gang, even though she had never gained her father's approval!
"Alright, get back to unloading the goods. Stop any thoughts you have about Emily now; she's not someone you can mess with!"
"yes!"
Seeing that Jodson's expression had suddenly turned serious, the young man's expression changed, and he immediately straightened his attitude.
The truck sped through the bustling street, and with Lin Jue's occasional reminders, it returned safely to Emily's little bar.
Along the way, he witnessed two robberies, and this was during the day!
With his mind racing, looking at the tavern filled with laughter and joy, an idea suddenly popped into Lin Jue's head!
"Haha, Lin, you're finally back."
Dam swayed his fat body, munching on fried chicken as he rushed over excitedly. Lin Jue's gaze sharpened slightly as he skillfully dodged a hand covered in grease.
"hey-hey!"
Dam wiped his hands along the fabric covering his chest.
"Lin, did you cause trouble for those guys last night?"
"without!"
"Phew, thank goodness! Last night, those guys were all wiped out by a mysterious person. My friend at the police station told me that they all had their necks broken. That mysterious hero is definitely not human!"
"Oh?"
Unexpectedly, Danmu had this connection. Lin Jue looked at the chubby boy swaying in front of him with a smile in his eyes.
"Furthermore, those people gave that mysterious hero a nickname: The Judge!"
"The Judge...that's a good title!"
"Haha, I think so too! Gotham only has one Dark Knight, how can he possibly manage so many criminals? Now there's a new superhero, our city's reputation will definitely surpass that green-haired guy from Star City next door!"
"Green Arrow!"
"Uh, yeah, Green Arrow!"
