Chapter 38 Matt: Guess why I went easy on him?

As he spoke, Matt took a deep breath and then looked at Illeris.

Upon hearing Ron's words, Illeris stretched his neck a couple of times and then said disdainfully, "Whatever happens, death awaits you."

Matt stretched his body a couple of times, and then his body, covered by the red bodysuit, suddenly swelled up a size—

Through his enhanced senses, Matt could feel Illeris's power. He had no intention of delaying; aside from anything else, the few passersby whose upper bodies had been smashed by a single hammer blow proved that this guy's danger level far exceeded that of ordinary criminals.

Then, with the writhing of flesh, two short sticks intertwined with blood and flesh appeared in Matt's palm. He didn't hold them as weapons, but instead aimed them at Illeris's body from a distance. With a tense muscle in his arm, there was a loud thud, and then the two short sticks shot towards Illeris's front like small cannonballs.

Feeling the force emanating from it, Illeris dodged to the side, his gaze turning somewhat solemn. He raised his warhammer, and the moment it slammed down, his massive and imposing body appeared directly behind Matt.

So fast!

Feeling the sudden gust of wind behind him, Matt's heart sank slightly. In the past, he would have dodged to the side. But after a month of familiarization and detailed development of his abilities—

bump!!

The hammer struck right in the bullseye, and Matt's body was hit hard by the blow. The heavy force made Matt, who was standing in place, as hard as a nail, and he was driven into the concrete road.

However, despite being caught in the middle, Matt's body was not harmed in the slightest. Instead, he used the momentum to leap away the moment Illerith raised his warhammer.

By using the transparent world and shutting down unnecessary organs to use all that energy for enhancing touch, Matt can sense an attack before his dermis is destroyed. He can then instantly solidify a portion of his flesh by generating a weapon from his flesh, creating a sturdy flesh "armor" between the dermis and subcutaneous tissue!

From mid-air, he opened his palm, and a dark red flesh and blood battle staff with its density increased several times over was generated from his arm. Accompanied by a fierce wind, it slammed into Illeris's chest like a heavy hammer.

Struck by the heavy blow, Illeris let out a muffled groan of pain, a dent appearing in his chest armor. He staggered back two steps, creating distance, his initial contempt turning to seriousness as he gritted his teeth and said, "Not bad, but for me now, it's nothing!"

The next moment, Illerith let out a deep roar, and tiny cracks appeared in the surrounding space. Some white dust dripped through these cracks and landed on Illerith, and in an instant, even the surrounding temperature dropped. Although it was the height of summer, a layer of pure white frost covered Illerith's armor and the surrounding ground.

Noticing the white dust, or rather, the fine particles that had settled on Illerith, Ron stroked his chin—that must be the legendary White Frost, right? No wonder it terrifies the people of the Witcher world.

Although the white frost gives people a cold feeling, in reality, the white frost itself has no temperature. Instead, it is constantly absorbing the warmth of the surrounding environment, which is a rather interesting form of secret energy.

Seeing Illeri's condition, Ciri gritted her teeth and said, "Get out of here quickly! Illeri can't hold on for long. He'll just have to wait until he can't take it anymore and it'll end up on its own!"

Meanwhile, feeling the surge of danger emanating from Illeris, Matt clenched his arms. Then, the swelling on his back caused by Illeris's direct attack healed at a visible speed, and even the broken bones were firmly reconnected in an instant.

Noticing Matt's demeanor, Ron raised an eyebrow and said, "Not bad, looks like you're mastering your new ability quite well?"

"Hmm." Matt nodded. "After this period of time, I'm pretty familiar with it now."

As he spoke quietly, Matt glanced at Ron with a somewhat complicated expression.

His opinion of Ron was complicated. On one hand, from any perspective, Ron didn't seem like a good person, and he even had a demon by his side who, according to Ron himself, had probably eaten tens of thousands of people.

However, during Matt's observations, Ron rarely went out and spent most of his time in the mental hospital acting crazy... Come to think of it, it seems that the hyena gang members who died also died because they broke into the mental hospital.

There was no trace of the dead body. Even the police, after a brief search, left. The police dogs couldn't find any evidence of the deceased...

Reason told Matt that such dangerous individuals, regardless of the circumstances, should at least be kept under control. But looking at his own hands… he realized that his ability to become stronger, to see the world, was all thanks to this person…

Let alone others, even Matt himself didn't know what he was thinking. But there was no need to think about it now, since regardless of whether it was Ron's order or not, he would still attack this armored warrior.

Thinking it over, Matt said, "I don't know what your motives were in making me like this, in giving me these abilities. But if you are truly evil, I will stop you, even if it costs me my life!"

"Wow, how heartless." Ron pretended to be sad and wiped away non-existent tears, then pulled Nakime out of the shadows by her hair:

"Nakome has eaten tens of thousands of people, why haven't you made a move yet...?"

After a moment of silence, Matt said somewhat helplessly, "I haven't found any evidence..."

"Huh? You masked vigilantes need evidence for violent law enforcement?"

"Uh... how should I put it?" Matt said somewhat helplessly, "According to you, this long-haired woman has been eating people for longer than the history of the United States..."

"...That's indeed quite frustrating."

Seeing the group of people talking amongst themselves in front of him, Illeris felt deeply insulted. He then growled, "Very well! You've done well! Then die here together!!!"

Roaring, from a great distance, Illeris raised his warhammer and swung it with all his might. With a whooshing sound, the flying white frost froze the atmosphere, leaving a series of frost tracks in the air, and struck Matt like a storm!

While Matt appeared to be talking to Ron, his attention never actually strayed from Illeris.

Feeling the freezing wind rushing through the air, although it didn't seem like much, at most just a bit cold, Matt's enhanced sense of danger made him keenly aware that he absolutely could not confront it head-on.

Matt leaped to the side, using his ankle to generate force, but in that instant, Illeris appeared behind him like a ghost. And the warhammer he held high swung precisely in the direction Matt had leaped!

It's gotten even faster!

A look of terror flashed in his eyes. With a burst of speed, power, and the white frost clinging to the Illerith Warhammer, Matt's body was sent flying like a baseball with a thud, accompanied by teeth-grinding bone cracks.

His burly body slammed into the wall and crashed into a shop on the street. The blow landed squarely. Illerith ignored Matt and turned his gaze to Ron and the others, coldly and swiftly saying, "Next, it's your turn... hmm?"

As they were talking, Illeris suddenly let out a soft hum and then looked to the side.

Struggling to his feet from the ruins, Matt, still somewhat dazed, vomited several mouthfuls of blood. However, he quickly recovered, dragging his frozen half-body to the ground, where he spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva. He then looked up at Illeris and said, "It's not over yet!"

Seeing this, he was taken aback at first, then Illeris sneered, "Then I'll blast you into dust!"

Matt didn't say anything, but gritted his teeth and tried to unleash the energy brewing in his body as much as possible.

Battle is always the best catalyst. With the continuous rhythm of energy, a deep red glint appeared in Matt's eyes. His flesh writhed, and his stiff body quickly recovered and became active. Dark red blood spurted out from the area that had been struck by the hammer.

He closed his eyes tightly, shutting down all unnecessary organs in his body. As his enhanced senses expanded outwards, a three-dimensional image formed through his multiple senses reappeared in Matt's mind.

He regained his sight, but Matt was already used to fighting in the dark.

Now, with the 3D images regenerating in his mind, Matt's heightened perception allows him to sense details he could only vaguely perceive before, but could never truly capture.

It was at this moment that his body disappeared into the spatial rift, and with the powerful warhammer falling, Illeris could even see Matt being smashed into a pulp by himself.

But it was at this moment that Matt keenly sensed the rhythm formed the instant the spatial rift was created, and his high-intensity neural reflexes allowed him to react instantly the first moment he perceived it.

Leaping to the side, the frost-covered warhammer grazed Matt's face as it swung past. Seeing the blow miss, Illeris's eyes narrowed to slits, but his movements didn't falter. Almost instantly after the missed strike, he vanished from Matt's sight once more.

But this time, Matt didn't panic at all. Instead, he dodged the moment he sensed the spatial rhythm.

After two attacks missed, a look of seriousness appeared in Illeris's eyes. And just as the third attack landed—no, before Illeris could even hit Matt, while the warhammer was still swinging, and he had only just appeared beside Matt, Matt had already launched an attack on Illeris a moment earlier.

With arms outstretched, a pair of sharp, nail-like short clubs instantly materialized in Matt's palms, viciously piercing into the ribs of Illerith's armor.

"Hmm!"

Seeing this, Illeris disregarded the attack in his hand and made a move to grab Matt's neck with both hands. Matt, without any hesitation, pulled his hands away and created distance. Before Illeris could tear open another spatial rift, he flicked his palm, and the flesh in his palm transformed into a dark red whip—actually, a short stick of flesh and blood with the bones removed.

With a swift flick of his wrist, the whip wrapped around Illerith's calf. A powerful tug sent Illerith sprawling backward. Immediately following, Matt charged to Illerith's side, his right leg rising high behind him, a massive bulge forming from the sole to the calf. As the density increased, the flesh and armor clinging to the instep transformed into sharp, armor-piercing spikes. Then, with all his might—*Bang!*

Ron was certain that with a powerful, heavy soccer kick, even a shot put placed in front of Matt would be a beautiful, long-range shot. But at the last moment, Matt restrained his power, and even slightly shifted the direction—

Even so, Illerith, whose entire body was wrapped like an iron can, was still kicked dozens of meters away. Upon landing, blood trickled from the gaps and holes in his armor.

Upon seeing that Illeris had fainted and lost his ability to fight, Matt, who was on edge, suddenly knelt down. His burly body shrank rapidly like a deflated balloon, but his battle suit, which had been stretched to its limit, did not return to its original shape. When draped over his body, it looked more like an ill-fitting robe than a bodysuit.

Catching his breath, Matt stood up, looking somewhat exhausted, and said, "Okay, it's settled... ugh!"

The battle ended, the pain-relieving adrenaline stopped flowing, and the lingering injuries made Matt gasp. It took him a long time to recover.

Meanwhile, Ron simply came up to Matt and said, "Next time you can go ask the Hulk for advice, ask him where he bought his big shorts, and use them to sew a new suit... Oh right, Dr. Banner hasn't become the Hulk yet."

"You're talking nonsense again..." After catching his breath, Matt forced himself to sit up and pointed to the side, saying, "And that guy, he's still alive, kill him... huh?!"

Before Matt could finish speaking, Geralt walked over to Illerith's side. Under Matt's questioning gaze, Geralt exchanged a glance with Ron. After Ron shrugged to indicate that he didn't care, Geralt drew the blade from behind him, pulled off his helmet, and swiftly and viciously stabbed at the neck.
