Chapter 32 I'm a doctor, if I say you're sick, then you're sick!
Chapter 32: I'm a doctor, if I say you're sick, then you're sick!
Holding a donut in his hand, Brother Wang felt his heart filled with excitement.
The abandoned universe is teeming with talent, and Brother Wang is one of them. In his middle age, he suddenly awakens, sells his possessions, leaves his hometown, is robbed of everything at the border, and is injected with the essence of Old Mo Puff.
Even so, Donut still managed to reach the Lighthouse of Freedom by following the trail, and with the idea that people should strive for higher goals, he asked Old Mo to give him a ride to New York, where the wealthy congregate.
Penniless, Brother Wang could only resort to his old trade of making cream puffs to pay for his travel expenses and earn some start-up capital. He didn't have much money, so he saved up to buy half a donut. Out of pity, the shop assistant gave him a free one. Even so, this act of kindness made Brother Wang feel that the air itself was sweet, filled with the radiant light of freedom and democracy.
"Donuts are so delicious!" With his buttocks clenched tightly, as if afraid that the hard-earned protein would be wasted and stain his pants, Brother Wang, with tears in his eyes, vented his pent-up emotions into his phone and clicked send to upload to Little Bluebird.
Then, the security guards at Stark Industries who noticed Wang's strange reaction ran over with sticks to chase him away, fearing that some terrorist fan from the Middle East was playing a game of cat and mouse with their master, Mr. Stark.
"Why are you kicking me out! What right do you have to kick me out! Isn't there another Asian person over there?!"
Brother Wang pointed at Ron with a face full of resentment, but after glancing at Ron, the security guard felt a chill on his neck and then swung the baton even harder.
There are still many good people in this world.
He silently cast a temporary berserk buff on the security guards.
Then, seeing what happened to Brother Wang, Ron felt a warm glow in his heart.
Finally, Ron glanced at Brother Wang's phone and saw that he knew nothing about or had never heard of things like the Daily Competition, AAA National Flight, or Green Slave Couple.
Ron clapped his hands, and an invisible black mist surged around him. Immediately afterward, Ron's presence rapidly diminished. Not only did he fail to attract the attention of Brother Wang and the security guards beside him, but he also failed to notice anyone when he passed through the crowd crowding the entrance of Stark Industries Building—even though the crowd had automatically parted to create a wide avenue for cars to pass through.
Located on the top floor of the Stark Industries building, Tony lay on a soft recliner, his face full of relaxation and peace of mind.
"Phew, home is the best! To celebrate my safe return to New York, I've decided to throw a three-day, three-night no-holds-barred party! Haha! Jarvis, go and slip the invitations into the models' mailboxes! I can't wait... Uh, hey, Pepper, when are you getting here?"
Seeing Pepper approach with a furious expression, Tony, who had been preparing to have some fun, showed a hint of nervousness. Anyone else present would have been quite surprised. It was hard to imagine that Tony Stark, the playboy known throughout New York for his talent, wealth, and approachable nature, would show such nervousness and embarrassment because of a lady's arrival.
Upon hearing Tony's words, Pepper's face showed a helpless expression.
Virginia Pepper Potts. Tony's personal assistant, who worked at Stark Industries before Tony's father was even alive, climbing the corporate ladder step by step to become Tony's personal assistant. Although she's just a personal assistant, considering Tony's position at Stark Industries, her role is almost equivalent to that of a chief steward.
Although they often argued due to differing opinions, Pepper remained the closest person to Tony. She illuminated his life, protected him, cleaned up his messes, and compensated for this tech genius's social illiteracy...
Now, upon hearing of Tony's return, Pepper immediately rushed to the top floor of the building. Watching Tony grinning and talking about holding a grand assembly to emulate the Bodhisattva's incarnation for salvation, Pepper, knowing the genius's nature, paid little attention to his frivolous behavior. Instead, she couldn't help but clench her teeth as she looked at Tony's increasingly tired face.
"You bastard! Why didn't you let me know immediately that you were out of danger! Even the news of your return to New York was only told to me by a government official! Do you think that as long as you're out of danger, what other people think doesn't matter at all?!"
Hearing Pepper's slightly agitated words, Tony instinctively wanted to defend himself. But as soon as he looked up, he saw Pepper's dark circles—even heavy makeup couldn't conceal them—dry, dull hair, and bloodshot, fine lines around her eyes…
It seemed like she hadn't had a proper night's sleep in ages.
Seeing Pepper's undeniable weariness, even with makeup, and recalling his own flippant words, even Tony, usually so carefree, felt a pang of sadness in that instant...
"I feel like Tony is a real jerk..."
Ethan, standing nearby, couldn't help but mutter a complaint to Geralt. Geralt nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, this lady is extremely exhausted, and her mental state seems even weaker than Tony's..."
Hearing their hushed conversation, Tony grimaced and muttered, "You guys, even when you're talking about someone, keep your voices down!"
"You're the one who should be reflecting on your actions!" Pepper glared fiercely at Tony, not saying much more, but her eyes clearly told Tony, "This isn't over today." She then smoothed her hair, revealing a friendly yet distant smile, and said to Ethan and Geralt:
"I have spoken with the government officials in detail, and you two are the ones who helped Tony, right? Thank you for taking such a risk to help Tony. We will do our best to repay your kindness to Tony."
Hearing Pepper's words, Ethan scratched his head and then said somewhat embarrassedly, "Actually, Tony helped me the most... If it weren't for Tony, I might still be stuck in a terrorist's den."
Meanwhile, Geralt remained silent, watching with interest Tony, who appeared relaxed but whose eyes were actually filled with confusion, and Pepper, who seemed tired but actually managed everything perfectly, displaying the demeanor of a hostess.
Geralt was quite close to Tony. Besides the kind heart hidden beneath his flamboyant exterior, Tony also resembled one of his friends—Dandelion.
A gifted lyricist and composer, a wandering poet, a graduate of Senfort Academy, a regular performer at the Royal Palace, an unparalleled ladies' man, a playboy admired by ladies worldwide, a skilled negotiator, and an eloquent orator—these are the common images of Dandelion in the stories told by many.
Well, because of this guy's womanizing ways, Geralt has had to clean up his messes quite a bit.
At first, Geralt felt that Tony and Dandelion were very similar... not just in personality, but even in appearance, such as their neat little mustaches. But now, however, they don't seem quite alike.
At least, their inner selves are completely different.
Thinking to himself, Geralt said, "I don't need to say anything. Tony bringing me to New York is the biggest help I can give."
"Um?"
Hearing Geralt's words, and eager to divert Pepper's attention, Tony coughed lightly and said, "Speaking of which, Geralt, both your appearance and your purpose are quite strange. Could you elaborate? What do you mean by 'from another world'?"
"Um?!"
Upon hearing this, Pepper was initially somewhat displeased with Tony's attempt to change the subject, but after learning about Geralt's background, she couldn't help but turn her gaze to Geralt beside her.
What does "from another world" mean?
"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure myself." Geralt rubbed his temples, a serious expression on his face. "It's true I want to change my fate, but that doesn't mean I'll entrust everything to it. In fact, I have many things to do, and the final battle is just around the corner, yet I've inexplicably ended up here..."
After a pause, Geralt took a deep breath and said, "No matter what, I must return to my world quickly. The rallying signal for Kaer Morhen has been given, and the Wild Hunt's army is about to arrive. If my absence leads to..."
"The Kaer Morhen Gathering? So that's the timeframe? I thought you'd already reached the ending like the wolves."
Hearing the sudden sound, everyone was startled and looked around. But no matter how carefully they observed their surroundings, they couldn't find any trace of anyone.
Seeing this, Geralt also focused his attention. As the surrounding space gradually became abstract under the Witcher's senses, some previously unnoticed details also appeared in Geralt's sight, mind, and even perception.
Following the direction from which the anomaly was coming, Geralt looked to the side and then saw a wisp of dark mist drifting in from not far away. This eerie form stirred up some unpleasant memories for Geralt, and he instinctively gripped the silver sword behind him, standing taut on his feet: "Who's there! Show yourself!"
"We're colleagues, why are you so nervous?" Seeing Geralt's expression, Ron helplessly removed his mental barriers and looked at Geralt, saying:
"Hello, Gay Camel. How are you? Judging from your appearance, you must have found Ciri? Is she alright? Where's your beloved horse, Carrot? Vesemir is still alive, right? That makes sense, the rally at Kaer Morhen hasn't been completed yet, which means the Wild Hunt hasn't arrived yet? So Vesemir probably hasn't died either, so there's no need for Ciri to use that potential burst trick, it's too harmful to her body."
"..." Upon hearing Ron's words, Geralt's previously tense expression faltered slightly. He then took a deep breath, exhaled a stale air, and said with the solemnity of a Hercules, "What do you mean by Vesemir's sacrifice?"
"Literally, your feud with the Wild Hunt."
Seeing Geralt's expression, Ron shrugged and said simply, "According to what you just said, you should have found Ciri's message by now. Next, you should head to Kaer Morhen to assemble and confront the Wild Hunt. During this process, in order to protect Ciri, Vesemir attacked the Wild Hunt commander Eredin and, in a gap in the attack, used the Aard Sign to push Ciri away, ordering her to escape."
"But you know how serious the consequences of being distracted in battle can be. So he was caught red-handed by a general under the Wild Hunt, smashed with a hammer, and then his right hand, which was used to release the spell, was crushed. Tsk tsk, poor old man, two or three hundred years old, still having to risk his life at such an advanced age~"
Upon hearing Ron's words, Geralt's eyes revealed a complex mix of thoughts.
Meanwhile, Tony, though confused, noticed Geralt's complex expression and picked up his glass, gesturing, "Uh... are you making a prophecy? Something doesn't seem right. Aren't prophets in fantasy stories usually cryptic riddle-makers? How come you're speaking so fluently?"
"Because I've read the script." Ron scoffed, pointing at Tony's chest. "Instead of gathering information for Geralt here, you should be thinking about what to do with that thing on your chest. As a scientist, you should know the consequences of palladium poisoning better than I do."
Upon hearing this, Tony's face paled, then he forced a smile and said, "Palladium poisoning? Ha, are you kidding me...?"
Before Tony could finish speaking, feeling Pepper's gaze from behind, Tony's voice involuntarily dropped several decibels.
Turning to Pepper, Tony chuckled and said, "Ha, Pepper! You don't actually believe this... uh, this black-clad sorcerer's nonsense, do you?"
Upon hearing this, Pepper didn't speak, but chuckled coldly a few times, flicked a strand of hair from her temple, and said with a cold expression, "Jarvis, immediately make an appointment with the most authoritative doctor in all of New York for palladium poisoning, and prepare a full set of physical examinations."
"I recommend putting a chastity belt on him!" Ron chuckled upon hearing Pepper's words and enthusiastically suggested.
"Intense partner aerobics can accelerate blood flow and metabolism, which is very bad for the condition! You should add chlorophyll to all your meals, be all green, and preferably wear a green hat too."
"And one more thing! Add a stun gun and put it inside the chastity lock. It's a simple physical way to prevent erections; the one inside a lighter will do, and you don't have to worry about it harming the body~"
Upon hearing this, Tony's expression stiffened, while Pepper, standing beside him, was slightly taken aback before a hint of eagerness appeared in her eyes.
Seeing this, Tony immediately retorted, "Hey! Pepper! You can't believe him! He's completely talking nonsense!"
"This is my certificate from the director." Ron calmly pulled a postcard from his pocket and handed it to Pepper with a smile, saying, "Multi-Psychiatric Hospital, 666 Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. As the director, I assure you that Tony has developed mental problems."
"Bullshit! Palladium poisoning doesn't affect the brain! Especially not a genius's brain like mine!"
"I'm a doctor! If I say you're sick, then you're sick!"
Listening to their argument, Pepper remained silent for a long time. Finally, under Tony's worried gaze, she smiled and looked up, taking Ron's postcard and saying gently, "Does your hospital need renovations? I have a check for five million here..."
