Chapter 30 - Flying by plane is a serious test for witchers.

"You know all that? Seriously, did you really split the bullet in two just now? And what's that shield? When we get to New York, are you interested in letting me study how it works?!"

Despite his playful banter, Tony's actions were anything but casual. In fact, he was remarkably serious, gazing out of the cave, raising his right arm, and unleashing a barrage of fire from the heavy machine gun attached to it. Not only were human bodies blasted through, but even the walls were shattered.

Having completed the initial clearing, Tony strode forward rapidly, propelled by the hydraulic system. Simultaneously, he raised his left arm, unleashing a torrent of flammable gas that ignited through a spark in front of him, instantly transforming into a dense flame that burned the soldiers guarding the cave entrance to charred corpses.

When Tony saw the horrific state of the dead, a hint of pity flickered in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it, his expression turning grave as he continued charging forward, saying to Ethan and Geralt behind him:

"Hold on tight! We're taking off!"

Geralt quickly grabbed the handle on the back of the iron can armor and pulled the thin Ethan up so he could hold on tight as well.

"Hold on tight!"

"Alright! Take off!!"

As he spoke, Tony immediately activated the jet propulsion system. Unfortunately, after only taking off three or four meters, the Iron Can armor stopped in mid-air and could not continue climbing. Because it was a makeshift device and was overweight by two people, Tony was unsure whether the jet propulsion system could achieve the strength he had envisioned when he built it.

With dense flames shooting from behind, Geralt could clearly feel the air heating up. But with two more people added to the load, the armor's thrusters, though activated, were simply not powerful enough to support a high-speed escape carrying three people.

In fact, because it is suspended in mid-air, the metal can armor has become a direct target.

Seeing the terrorists around them raise their rifles and aim at them, Tony couldn't help but curse:

"Damn it! The ingredients here are awful!"

Upon hearing this, Geralt remained calm and asked even more urgently, "Can you manage? Can you still run?"

"Yes! But we need to land and recharge!" Tony said through gritted teeth. "But these guys won't give us any more time!"

Seeing this, Geralt took a deep breath, looked down at the crowd who had already raised their guns, then took a bottle from his backpack and stuffed it into Ethan's arms, saying:

"No need to land, just reduce the weight directly."

Upon hearing this, Ethan's face turned pale—of the three, Tony was piloting the mech, this man could also use magic, so he was definitely the most useless one.

Realizing what was happening, Tony instinctively said, "Ethan saved me—wait! What are you doing?"

Before Tony could finish speaking, the two saw Geralt release his grip.

"You guys go first! Don't forget to spill the solution from the bottle on the ground along the way! Don't worry about giving us away, only the hunter... only I can find this liquid."

"What are you going to do?!"

Realizing something was amiss, Tony said, "Don't do anything foolish! We..."

"Your plan started with only two people, and now there's me, plus weapons and heavy armor. Even if you can run, you can't go far..."

As he spoke, Geralt took out another bottle of alchemical potion and poured it into his mouth, feeling the dual enhancement of his body and energy, and his amber eyes became even brighter.

"I won't linger in battle... If we need to break through quickly, it's easier for me to do it alone!"

As he spoke, Geralt leaped down. With a wave of his hand, an invisible shockwave of psychic energy spread outwards—Sign of Axeshi!

The Axii sign influences the enemy's will through mental impact. Mastering its techniques can even temporarily control the enemy, causing them to attack their own allies and creating small-scale chaos.

As he was doing now, Geralt didn't unleash the Axii sign on everyone at once. Instead, he targeted the leader-like figure in the crowd and the terrorist who was not far away, aiming a heavy machine gun.

Even now, Geralt's heart is still full of doubts, but he can sense that, in terms of the sense of danger, the one fixed to the car is the most dangerous.

As the leader and the machine gunners fell into chaos, the machine gun fire began to scatter uncontrollably in all directions. Amidst this chaos, Geralt threw out a barrage of poison mist grenades while maximizing his senses to dodge stray bullets flying through the air.

Without any intention of lingering, Geralt took out a large number of bombs and threw them toward the armory and ammunition storage area not far away.

As the explosions and the spreading poisonous fog plunged the entire terrorist camp into chaos, Geralt, the person involved, immediately ran to the location of Maguire.

Horse riding is a traditional sport in the Middle East. Even though terrorists prefer jeeps, they will still choose to ride horses when necessary, considering factors such as energy and certain terrain conditions.

That's why, having never driven a car before, Geralt knew exactly how to escape the moment he smelled horse manure.

Geralt swiftly killed the terrorists blocking his path, and before the poison gas could spread, he cleaved the reins of all the horses with a single sword stroke. The horses, already terrified by the gunfire, bolted into the wilderness the moment they lost their reins.

Geralt, positioned among them, chose a relatively docile-looking mare, mounted it, lowered his body, and fled among the scattered herd.

Having escaped the chaotic terrorist camp, Geralt exhaled a heavy breath. Focusing his mind and extending his senses, he saw a sparse trail stretching into the distance through his Witcher's senses.

These are traces left by tracking potion, usually applied to crossbow bolts for hunting down fleeing wild beasts or magical creatures. Now, however, they're used to catch up with Tony and Ethan, who have already escaped.

After riding his horse at full speed for more than two hours, Geralt finally saw a plume of smoke rising from the bottom of a sand dune not far away.

It's not that Tony and the others raised thick smoke as a marker to wait for Geralt's return. After all, under normal circumstances, the smoke would attract more likely terrorists than Geralt.

The metal armor had crashed to the ground due to overload from the long flight. The engine that powered the entire armor shut down, and the jets were also emitting thick black smoke due to overheating.

"Let's run! Get as far away from here as possible." Ethan looked back fearfully and said, "That silver-haired man stayed behind at the terrorist camp to cover our retreat. Although he's strong, he's alone and can't possibly come back..."

"I know, but at least let me rest for a bit!" Tony said, sounding exhausted. "I cushioned your fall, so you're fine, but I'm in terrible pain... Damn it, I'm definitely going to reinforce the armor's cushioning layer when I get back!"

He paused, a serious look creeping into Tony's eyes, and gritted his teeth as he said, "Damn it, even if the company abandons me, I'll avenge that guy!"

Ethan was taken aback by Tony's loyalty and sense of duty, then scratched his head and pointed into the distance, saying:

"Uh... he seems to still be alive?"

"Huh?" Tony was taken aback upon hearing this. Then he looked in the direction Ethan was pointing and saw Geralt riding a white horse at a steady pace toward them.

A moment later, Geralt reunited with Tony. He patted the horse's rump, removed the tack, and gestured for it to leave.

Looking at the two people in front of him, Geralt asked, "Are you alright?"

Upon hearing this, Tony also said, "This isn't a question you should be asking, it's a question we should be asking... How did you even get out of there?"

"I was lucky."

As he spoke, Geralt sat down on the ground, then drew a short knife from his waist, stabbed it into his shoulder, and a bullet landed on the sand.

This was a stray bullet that accidentally hit him while he was traveling to Magai.

The bullet didn't embed deeply; it wasn't even a direct hit, but rather a ricochet from the wall. Combined with the chainmail on the shoulder, the bullet only lodged in the armor, leaving a bruise, and didn't cause an open wound.

Geralt wouldn't even need medicine for this level of injury; his Witcher physique alone would allow him to recover within minutes.

Having dealt with his wound, Geralt turned his gaze to the two people before him and asked, "So, what's next? What are your plans?"

"Let's leave here first."

After resting for a while, Tony felt he had regained some strength and propped himself up, saying, "The distress signal has been sent out, and the military should be arriving in the vicinity soon. However, this thick smoke is attracting attention, so we'd better stay away, otherwise it'll be troublesome if the terrorists spot us first..."

Tony paused, then asked with some curiosity, "Speaking of which, why did you release that horse? Having a horse would have made our movements much easier."

"It's no use."

Upon hearing Tony's words, Geralt shook his head and said:

"The horse is severely exhausted from the long gallop. There's an oasis not far away, and if she goes there to forage, she can survive... provided she can sustain herself to reach the oasis. Besides, I'm not sure if the horse has anything for tracking, so keeping it around would only be a hazard."

"Okay, you've convinced me."

As he spoke, Tony tore off a piece of cloth and wrapped it around his head to shield himself from the scorching sun, then walked in the other direction:

"Let's start running then, hopefully those military guys will arrive soon..."

Upon hearing this, Geralt nodded. Although he didn't know who those guys Tony was talking about were, Geralt was new to the place and could only follow Tony into the distance.

After traveling for about half an hour, finally, accompanied by Ethan's excited cheers, two small black dots appeared in the distant sky. Upon closer inspection, they were clearly two armed helicopters that had been alerted and had rushed to the scene.

"Hey! Is that Tony Stark? Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Through the loudspeaker, the helicopter pilot's voice reached everyone's ears. Tony and the others breathed a sigh of relief, then waved the rags in their hands and said:

"It's me! I'm Tony Stark! Damn, you're finally here! I'll definitely give you a huge investment later!"

Upon hearing Tony's words, the people on the armed helicopter smiled broadly.

Although they're still soldiers, well, isn't the point of military service to earn money and benefits? With Tony Stark's investment, they could easily be discharged. Even if they don't leave, continuing their service would be enough for them to get promoted based on their past achievements.

Although rescuing Tony Stark was an order from their superiors, no one would dislike receiving a substantial reward along with a commendation from their boss.

Thinking this, the attack helicopter quickly descended and hovered, followed by the lowering of the rope ladder. Seeing this, the exhausted Tony Stark felt a renewed surge of strength within him. Without a word, he grabbed the ladder and swiftly climbed up.

Geralt, on the other hand, showed a hint of tension in his eyes when he saw the rope ladder falling from the sky. He paused for a moment, exhaled a breath of stale air, and after mentally preparing himself, he quickly climbed up without looking back or down the entire time.

"Who are these two?"

They saw Ethan and Geralt who had come up with Tony—especially Geralt. After all, in a place like the Middle East, it's one thing to be an older white man, but to have silver hair, a burly build, carrying two heavy-looking longswords, and wearing full armor...

Yes, and those eyes too. Even without expressing an opinion, the amber eyes and those wild, vertical pupils could create an indescribable sense of oppression simply by staring into one's eyes.

In short, no matter how you look at it, it doesn't seem like a normal person.

Wouldn't it be hot to wear that in the Middle East?

"They are my friends."

Tony Stark stated succinctly, "If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have even made it out; I would have been dead during the terrorist attack. Speaking of which, how long will it take me to get back to New York?"

Upon hearing Tony's words, the soldiers beside him glanced at Ethan and Geralt with a hint of envy.

Tony Stark is a world-renowned playboy, constantly making headlines with his numerous affairs, changing girlfriends three times a month, each time with a top model.

But how should I put it? Their generosity is common knowledge. At least, every girlfriend they break up with goes off to pick up a luxury car with a smile on her face.

This was just a one-night stand, not a life-saving favor!
